Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 - Feeling Good

I woke up from my alarm's screaming and decided on another shower. I always felt good after having a shower. I shaved and washed my hair and then I brushed my teeth. I felt good. I dried my hair and put on some makeup. Even if I have to say so myself, I looked really good.

I got up and got dressed in my cute dress. I felt like wearing heels. And I never wear heels. I was feeling confident. I put on my black heels to fit my black dress, took my bags and placed them by the door.

"Good morning," the girls said.

"Wow, Amabel. You look hot," Gwen said.

"Thank you. I'm feeling good today."

After Ella got dressed and did her makeup and things, we left for work. Gwen had to go work with her father the last few months. She said she's making progress with her father and the company. I wonder how that happened...

Ella and I got a taxi and climbed in. "Walker Corporations, please," Ella said. We paid the driver and got to the front doors, only to see Trevor arriving at the same time. I couldn't face him now, so I pretended that I didn't see him. Ella had to go to start the coffee machine. That thing takes so long. And we always greet Mr. Walker with a cup of coffee.

Caleb opened the doors for Ella as I still tried to get all of my things. I had a lot of paperwork to carry as well. "Wow, Amabel. You look gorgeous," Caleb said. "Can I help you with that?" he asked me.

"I got it, man. Thanks," Trevor said, interrupting us and taking the paperwork from him. "Of course, Mr. Walker."

"Thank you, Caleb. I appreciate it," I said. I hate that Trevor is like that. What does he have against Caleb anyway?

"Good morning, Mr. Walker," Jessica and Olivia said. Damn. That's all I was going to say.

"Ladies," he said. We walked over to the elevator and got in. Once again... silence.

"You look beautiful," he said.

"Thank you," I said, not allowing myself to even look at him. I was still upset about what I heard last night.

"Are you okay?" he asked me.

"Mmhmm." Then the doors opened and he walked with me to my office. I put my bags down and took the paperwork from him. "Thank you for the help, Mr. Walker. You didn't have to."

"Amabel, what are you doing? Are you upset about last night's talk?" he asked.

"No, Mr. Walker. I am not. Your father isn't in yet. You can take a seat in the waiting room by the reception desk. If you want some coffee, I'm sure Ella will help with that," I said, plugging in my laptop and organizing my desk.

"Amabel, stop! What is wrong? Are you really that upset about last night? I thought we ended the discussion on good terms."

Luckily my iPad was already on my desk and the recording was on pause. I pushed the play button and continued what I was doing. I watched him slowly closing his eyes. I cleared my throat, ignoring him completely.

"Why did you record that?" he asked me.

"I make recordings of all the meetings your father has. I have his permission to do so, Mr. Walker," I said.

"Well, you didn't have my permission. And what's been said is between me and my father! And- "

"Trevor! Stop it!" Mr. Walker said. He looked at Trevor with anger in his eyes. I felt like crying again.

"My office... Now! Amabel, this is not a formal meeting. You don't have to attend," he said to me with a smile. He opened his doors and went inside. Trevor had this nasty look on his face as he went inside. He faced me as he closed the doors slowly. I knew that he could see the tears in my eyes.

"Are you okay," Ella asked me.

"Yeah. I have to get back to work," I said. She nodded and then walked back to her desk. I put my earphones in my ears to listen to some music to block the shouting out. My go-to song to feel energy for work is Unfamiliar by HRVY. That song's beat... Amazing. Such a good vibe to keep working. I get a lot done with that song.

And the more I listened to the lyrics, the more I realized how relevant it was in my life today.

I wondered if I would miss a call from someone who wants a meeting with Mr. Walker, but luckily my telephone makes this green light when someone is calling. I could work in peace and by surprize, I finished my one assignment in an hour. How long is the meeting with Trevor and his father still going to take?

As if just on time, the doors flew open and an angry Trevor stormed out. I don't even recognize him anymore. I took out my earphones and knocked on the door. I went inside and saw Mr. Walker pouring himself a drink.

(A/N: I would play Conversations in The Dark by John Legend while reading the next part...)

"Mr. Walker. You didn't have to do that. I don't want to be the reason to cause conflict between you and your son. For that, I apologize."

"Amabel, you have nothing to be sorry for. I just gave him the cold and bloody truth. Whether he wants to accept it or not. He can't talk to my co-workers like that and he can't talk to you like that either. You weren't the cause of this. Don't worry, Amabel," he said.

"Thank you, Mr. Walker. Can I make you some coffee instead?" I asked. He looked at me looking at the glass.

He put it down and said, "Yes. Thank you, Amabel."

I nodded and smiled.

After making him some coffee, I took it for him.
