Dear Amabel,
Happy birthday. You are officially twenty two. But no matter how old you get, you're still as beautiful as the first time I saw you. I'm really sorry about what happened. I hope that you can forgive me and that we can talk. I miss you. Enjoy your day!

"Who's it from?" Gwen asked.
"It's from Trevor. How did he even know it's my birthday?" I asked.
"Oh no. I think it's my fault," Gwen said. Nothing about this is her fault. I'm so confused right now.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"Well, I kinda have a surprize party for you this weekend and I already sent out the invitations. I thought that you might've wanted Trevor there, so I invited him. I'm so sorry, Bells."
"It's okay. You didn't know. And I really appreciate your efforts. Both of you. This kinda made my day," I said and grabbed them both in a hug. We started laughing and then Mr. Walker came around the corner.
"Happy birthday, Amabel," he said, giving me a hug and flowers. Does the entire world know that it's my birthday? I never expected this from him. But come to think of it, he did this for Ella too. Does he do this for every colleague? He really is a kind man. So generous and selfless.
"Thank you, Mr. Walker. I appreciate this so much," I said. Hugging Mr. Walker made me feel sad. I never got to hug my dad. And the fact that he brought me flowers, made tears form in my eyes.
"No, no, no. Are you okay, Amabel?" he asked me.
"Yes, Sir. These are happy tears. Thank you, Sir," I said. He nodded and went to his office. Gwen stepped forward and said, "Bells, I have to go. My dad and I have a meeting in an hour. Will you be okay?"
I gave her one more hug and said, "Yes, I'll be okay. Go, have fun. And thank you for bringing me to work and for the gift and just for being my friend."
"Thanks to you too," she said, hugging me tighter.
Then she left. Ella and I smiled at each other and gave a hug again. Then she went around the corner and started with work. I had no place for the huge box, so I put it in front of my desk and out of the walking area.
I took out my phone from my pocket and started typing:
Me (Today 08:26): Hey, thank you for the gift. It wasn't necessary. I appreciate it. Have a great day at work...
And not a moment too soon, I got one back:
Trevor (Today 08:26): Hey. I wanted to. Can we maybe talk? I want to apologize for yesterday.
Me (Today 08:28): I don't want to talk anymore. It doesn't help. I forgave you for yesterday. It's not to hurt you, but I need some time...
Trevor (Today 08:29): Okay. I really am sorry, Amabel. I never meant to hurt you. I hate myself that I did.
Me (Today 08:30): No, don't. Don't say that you hate yourself. Because I don't. It's okay. I forgive you. Look, I have to go. I'll see you around... Have a great day :)
Trevor (Today 08:31): Happy birthday...
I smiled with my lips tight. I didn't want to smile, but I also couldn't help it. "Amabel, we have to go. We have a meeting in conference room five. Are you ready?" Mr. Walker asked.
"Sir?" I asked. We didn't have a meeting planned for today. We do have one tomorrow.
"Our meeting? Two o'clock with Mr. Conner?" he asked.
"Sir, that meeting is tomorrow. Today we have to go through the paperwork and to draw up the contracts."
He sighed and held his forehead. "Sir, are you okay?" I asked him.
"What would I do without you and Ella. The contracts, of course. Can you start with drawing up the contracts and then I'll go through that huge pile of paperwork?"
He's giving me the responsibility of drawing up his company's business contracts? What if I make a mistake? What if I put something in that he won't agree with?
"Mr. Walker, I don't think I'm qualified to take over in making the contracts."
"Nonsense. I've called your online school. Your grades are excellent. You are more than qualified to do this. Amabel, I trust you. Would you help with this?" he asked. I can't believe he called my school?
"Yes, Sir. I'll start working on it immediately. Here's all the paperwork from yesterday's meeting with your son," I said, giving him the paperwork. He looked at me with pity.
"Is everything alright, Mr. Walker?"
