Chereads / Balance and Chaos: Changing my damned fate / Chapter 52 - Taking advantage of the unthinkable

Chapter 52 - Taking advantage of the unthinkable

Xin Feng sat on the floor beside his sister's bed, cross legged. "Do you remember the time when you said that there would be a zombie apocalypse in twenty-twenty three?" He began the conversation with a question, which she replied with a nod. "Well, you were not wrong by a few years…" He continued with a look of seriousness that Jessica knew was serious.

"How do you know? And are you certain?" She became serious as well.

"Yes, but I'm not certain what type of undead may appear. Still, I'll try to solve the problem, and let you be the prior survivor second to me. Mom and dad are already past sixty, so I don't know if they'll be able to survive with little to no recourses. I'll try to keep them safe as well as I can though. So, do you trust me?"

"Of course, I trust you. But I only trust that you'll try… Your fists won't be able to back away dozens of teeth anyway."

*Sigh* "You're right… But at least, I have this." He summoned the vial, to show his sister. The vile had some glow to it that gave her heart a soothing feeling. The feeling and the performance of something humanly impossible, ridded the small doubts that she still had. "Will that help us or something?" she asked with full curiosity.

"Yes… Unfortunately, this is nothing but a healing item that only works on me. Still, If I can stay alive, I can keep others alive. I hope…"

Since he was done telling her the important information, he stood up and headed for the door after saying his good nights. Jessica stopped him, when he held the doorhandle. She seemed to be in a dilemma, and after a few seconds of stuttering, she was able to complete her sentence.

"Can you sleep with me tonight…? This might be our last peaceful night, so I was thinking… I'm lonely and worried for the future. Please…"

"You know I could smell it when I sat down there, right? And you want to sleep with me, like that? Didn't you already sleep with me a few days ago? Just get a boyfriend to cuddle with, you spoiled brat." Xin Feng sighed, as he got annoyed of her clinginess. She would often go to his house to use him as a body pillow when she sleeps.

"Please… It would be the last time if what you said is true."

"Fine, but wash your hands first." He sighed once more, as he thought how he should've not let his sister enter his bed when she was five.

From that day on, she stopped clinging to her parents and clung to him instead. His parents didn't even correct her when both of them were teens, which annoyed Xin Feng a lot, since they weren't so tame before she was born.

When it became too much, he dealt with the problem, and only through begging on her birthday, he would reluctantly agree. After he moved into his own home, she took it as an opportunity to visit him often to persist him to sleep together, and she even moved together with him for two years when people weren't allowed to go out due to a pandemic.

Xin Feng, who respected his parents and cared for his sister, didn't mind it as much anymore since she stayed persistent for more than ten years. He knew that if she ever went too far, he wouldn't mind kicking her out of his bed with all of his strength. She was truly a weirdo, who was satisfied with a close brotherly love instead of a relationship. Especially after she saw a lot of situations from other girls where their boyfriend cheat on them or threat them harshly. "My brother treats me better than a boyfriend would" Was her motto, whenever Xin Feng told her to get a boyfriend.

Filled with excitement and glee, Jessica jumped on her bed, and immediately clung on to her brother. "You forgot to wash down there, didn't you?" Xin Feng asked with a monotone voice, uncomfortable from the wet sensation on his leg. Jessica didn't bother to reply, and stayed silent with a satisfied smile, acting as if she was asleep.

The sun didn't even come up, but Xin Feng was already up when it was five, since he was used to waking up at that time to train with Hua Mei. He stepped outside the house, to start the usual outdoors training from Hua Mei, instead of going to the gym in the evening.

'Looks like I can still perform some special sets of martial arts that wifey taught me. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to do it so well with a mere two times increase of gravity.' Xin Feng sighed, as he thought about the days he had spent with Hua Mei, and that he'll never experience such amusement anymore, since he lost her and his magical powers.

After he had checked out his martial skills, he followed with workouts, before completing a thirty-miles run within two hours. His muscles were completely damaged when he got back, as his body malfunctioned near the yard of his parents. His mind was used to running thirty miles within a quarter of an hour, but his body wasn't. Sure, his body was almost comparable to a body of an athlete. But in comparison to a body that's trained with the help of magical recourses, his body was nothing but an old and busted car that had a good engine.

'I hope this works…' He popped open the cap of the vial, and placed it near his nose. The scent of green nature and sunlight went through his nose, as it rejuvenated his body. Not only was the pain disappearing, but his body was fixing itself and getting stronger at the same time. His muscles had become more visible, and his body had gotten heavier. The chance of having no improvement after staying in bed for more than a week because of internal injuries, had turned into a massive improvement that shouldn't have been humanly possible.

'It actually worked! Hehe… Sorry miss goddess, but I won't use your divine power just to heal visible wounds. Lowering my chances of getting wounded is better than lowering my chances of dying after all. You need to get wounded to die, so it's best to have a good defense…'

"Yo dude, you good?" A passerby that was doing his morning routine, asked when he saw Xin Feng lying with his chin on the ground. You need help with your medicine or something? He continued when he saw the vial near Xin Feng's mouth.

"Thanks, I'm good. My body's just a little shocked after not working out for a week." Xin Feng assured the young man.

"Sure dude, no problem. Be careful where you place your nose though. You can never be too careful when it comes to diseases. Last year my uncle died from inserting his cock in snow. Doctor said he got infected by some untreatable disease, which is why he died before a month passed."

"Oh… Well, my condoles I guess."

"Meh, there's no need. He was sick in the head anyways."

"Aight, gotta finish my run before eight. See yah dude." The young man waved his hand, before he continued with his jog.

Xin Feng checked his skin, and found out that it was a bit tougher compared to before. His body was covered with thick sweat that had some filth with it, which was why he didn't smell pleasant at all. When he entered the house, Jessica wanted to reprimand him for not waking her up, but her words were stuck between her throat, as she ran to the sink to not throw up at the floor. She threw up, and when she had time to breathe, she yelled at Xin Feng as aggressive as always, to take a shower. Fortunately, his parents were still asleep at their room.

After thirty minutes, Xin Feng had finished washing off the filth from his body with lots of shower gel. When he was dressed properly, and came out of the bedroom, the smell had already disappeared thanks to Jessica opening the windows. The horrid smell was replaced with the delicious smell of a warm breakfast instead.

"Good morning, my sweet brother." She greeted him with the kindest smile, when Xin Feng entered the kitchen. On the dining table there were plates of food and cups of tea prepared for the two of them. As food, there was a fried egg that was surrounded with boiled long beans, and a few slices of raw union on top of it. A bowl of rice and blackberries were near the plates, and the chopsticks were perfectly aligned. A perfect breakfast that Xin Feng and Jessica would often eat, since Xin Feng only cared about the benefits of the food and Jessica about nutrition. It made it easier for Jessica to make breakfast for him as well, whenever she felt like spoiling him for being a lovely brother.

"How caring of you little bluebird. You made breakfast for your brother, and not for us." Her mother made a remark, when both of them were having a conversation while eating their breakfast.

"No need" She patted the shoulder of Jessica who was about to stand up, before she told her that she would simply warm up some milk to make some oatmeal for herself and her husband.
