Lea struggled to knit the bunch of wool on her laps into a bag. Her dad thought her how to knit ever since she was ten years old.
It's not her thing, so you can guess why she's struggling for just a minor thing.
"Lea..." Landi called but Lea kept quiet, and continued doing what she was doing, wanting to avoid to have any conversation with Landi because of what he said the night before.
"Lea?" he called from inside his room, until he came out from his room, just to see his beautiful brown haired daughter, knitting a bag, he knew he taught her how to make.
"I am calling you" he said and Lea didn't reply, instead she adjusted and stopped the knitting.
She then turned her attention to her dad, because her conscience was judging her. Especially since she didn't want to talk to her dad.
To Landi, it's all his fault for allowing Lea to have a friend from childhood. But who was he kidding, who knew something like this would happen.
"I will be leaving for another meeting with the elders of Maneth" he announced, his old and wrinkled neck bending from one side to the other as he spoke.
"Is it about the supplies?" Lea asked and Landi shook his head.
"No. It's about traveling out of Maneth with our families without anyone knowing" Landi said.
Lea's eyes widened, but she held the excitement so that she would not disgrace herself in front of her dad, so she just sighed and nodded.
Her attention went back to knitting. Piercing the knitting pin in and pulled it out as what she had in mind to knit started forming.
"Okay then. I'll be at the door to bid you a farewell. I shall be right there" Lea said and Landi sighed aloud.
At first, he saw the excitement rise in her. And he noticed the sudden hidden expression, but he didn't say a word. Instead, he left the corridor to gather his things.
Immediately he left, Lea sighed in deep and shook her head hard with tears falling down her eyes, down her cheeks.
She looked at her mum and dad picture and sighed.
She misses her. Even if she never knew her.
She slowly stood up from the bed she sat on and went out of the room, just in time to see her father walking out of the door with his bag and his hat on his head.
"Wait, Papa!" she called him and ran to where her father stood which was at the door post.
When she was at his front, she held out a piece of paper to him and said;
"I'm sorry for last night. But wherever you go to, remember me with this" she said and her father took it from her hand.
"Don't open it till you get to the elders place at Maneth south shift edge" she said and her father smiled in wisdom and smiled elderly.
"I will do as you have said" Landi said and hugged his daughter with a quite tight and tired smile on his face.
"Goodluck papa, I wish you a safe trip!" Lea yelled as Landi climbed unto the other horse they had.
Lea stood beside Lorn and both of them watched as her father being carried by the other horse, left to the south edge shift in speed and strength. She inhaled deeply and unconsciously kept rubbing the body of Lorn.
"Let's get you something to eat, shall we?" Lea asked with a smile as she and Lorn went into the stable.
Lea gathered much hay and fetched water from the little stream they had beside their house and placed it in front of Lorn, watching him eat it and with a smile, tapping on his body.
Lea departed from the stable and from Lorn, into the main cottage to get something to eat herself. She had legume soup and veggie potatoes, garnished with carrots and some green peas.
Her mouth started to become watery. So she turned the food and fetched very little for herself, she got somewhere comfortable and started eating her food and staring out of the window.
"What a day" she said while the food she stuffed into her mouth was gradually grinding as she chewed it.
Not later or after, a knock was heard at the door.
Lea stopped eating and stared at the door, assuming that her ears didn't hear well. But then, a bang was heard on the door three times.
She quickly rushed to the door and opened it and...
Her eyes met the eyes of Lamina.
"Lamina? What's wrong?" she asked.
"This is no time for questions, Lea. You have to let me in" Lamina said and wanted to force his way in, but Lea resisted.
"What? Why? I can't do that" Lea said with confusion imprinted on her face as she stared at Lamina's dark eyes.
"They're coming, Lea. I have to get in" Lamina said and forced his way some more but Lea closed the door and locked it.
"I can't do that! My father has warned me!"
Lea didn't get a reply but heard a thud.
She panicked and wondered what happened in front of the door.
Quickly and with a speed of lightning, she unlocked the door and opened it just to see Lamina on the floor, red liquid falling down his arm.
"Lamina!" she yelled.
She quickly went on her two knees and hovering her hands over his body, she had ran out of ideas.
"I knew I'd get you"
A male deep voice was heard and Lea quickly stood up, stepped inside, closed and then locked the door, but she stared out through the window.
A man in a sweater that got a hoodie over his head, walked gently towards Lamina.
Lamina, thankfully, didn't die but he was likely to.
The man nodded and pulled out a syringe from his pocket, bent down and pierced it into the skin of Lamina.
All throughout the scene, Lea has been watching.
As he pierced it, he pressed the syringe with a little of his might and the green liquid that the syringe contained reduced to nothing as it flowed into the veins of Lamina.
Lea stared at Lamina and then at the man then back at Lamina and watched with anxiety and curiosity of what will happen next...
Lamina coughed and opened his eyes...
Lea gasped silently as shock took hold of her at the sight of...
