Faust sat in his hospital bed as doctors and nurses went around checking up on their patients. Across the room there was a television playing the news. Faust watched it with tired eyes.
"After disappearing for more than a year, the Rainy-Day Killer makes a public appearance. They walked out of a burning police precinct and killed an officer who's now been identified as Detective Daniel Lafaille. Then, in line with their M.O., they hung him upside down from a high place with their throat slit and chest cut open. Then, with two more accomplices, who have yet to be identified, set fire to the rest of the police building. The building burned down completely as the firefighters were held as hostages. The three individuals fled on foot before disappearing altogether. Please look out for people matching this description…" The newscaster started describing Leo, Max, and John's general appearances as they showed a censored image of the police building that was on fire.
Faust sighed in frustration and grabbed the remote for the television. He was about to turn it off when he noticed something written on the walls that the newscaster failed to mention. Faust hesitated slightly, but instead of turning off the television, he paused it. He leaned up in his bed to get a closer look.
He slowly mumbled under his breath, "The corrupt are dead."
Faust leaned back and turned off the television. His brows furrowed slightly as he fell into thought. Eventually, his thoughts ceased as his tired mind succumbed to sleep.
Leo, John, and Max sat in John's car that given to him when he got the mission as proctor. John drove the two and they headed towards a meeting point with the others. After they all met up, the other proctors would bring Faust out of the hospital.
The car, on the other hand, was deathly silent. Leo was quiet because he liked the quiet, John was quiet because he was tired, and Max was quiet because he was thinking about what they just did.
He was having a hard time coming to terms with it. In one day, he went from not wanting to do anything bad to burning down a police station. Did that make him a hypocrite? He wasn't sure, but one thing was certain, he felt like a piece of shit.
He kept thinking about the dead officers outside the station. Was he justified in doing that? No, he was breaking out a murderer. But that murderer was his friend, nonetheless. Luckily, John was the one who took out the cops, so Max's conscious wasn't being outright destroyed. His mind was all jumbled up so to get himself out of it, he spoke up.
"Hey, uh, Mathias."
"Hmm? What's up?"
"John mentioned your name being Leo…"
Leo squinted his eyes and his mouth slightly opened. He slowly turned towards John with an annoyed expression.
John coughed and mumbled, "Well, I uh, I was talking with Elinor and she uh, mentioned it."
Leo continued glaring at John, "It seems that someone also lost my bell."
John coughed again, "Yeahhh, fighting is, uh, pretty precarious, you know? Must've slipped off and Elinor picked it up."
The car descended into silence once more as John tried to ignore the obviously annoyed Leo. If John had to compare him to something, he'd say that Leo was like a cat that was just sprayed with a water bottle.
Meaning you know when you go to sleep, that the cat's going knock some delicate stuff off of a table or something.
"I feel like I'm missing a lot of context." Max said suddenly.
"Eh… Nothing crazy." Leo replied.
"I doubt that."
"Okay, maybe it is a little crazy, but I can fill you in on that stuff later."
"Hmm… okay. In the meantime, mind finishing the story about what happened yesterday?" Max asked.
"The story?" John asked.
"Leo was telling me what he was up to yesterday that caused all this mess. Wait, I can call you Leo, right?" Max asked.
"When it's just me, John, or Faust."
"Wait, wait, wait, Faust knows?!" John interjected, turning towards Leo.
"Hey, eyes on the road! And yes, it should be fine though. Oh, and Castille knows. I don't know if that's fine."
"Good gods above, what the hell happened?" John asked.
"Uhm… Elinor... Elinor happened." Leo said with a shrug.
"But can you continue the story?"
"Uh, sure. Where'd I leave off at?"
"You were just thrown out of a window at Myer's Munitions."
"Ah, that's right."
Montague lifted Leo and threw him out of the window. He landed onto the hard ground with a groan as small bits of glass got stuck into him. Leo stood up and started mumbling something under his voice, most likely curses. He turned and walked back towards the window, mumbling the whole way. He hopped up and avoided the sharp glass, griping the window. After which, he pulled himself up and entered the window.
Five minutes prior…
Leo was suddenly tackled by Montague and thrown into another room. Luke chased after him quickly and before Andrew and Faust could, they were blocked off by a hail of bullets. They quickly backed up with Linus and Avery Junior.
Then Andrew, Faust, and Linus began firing back as they forced Junior away from his rescue party. Andrew stayed the closest to the security forces and was firing constantly. Faust was leading their escape and wedged between the two was Linus who kept Junior in check. Whenever they were being fired upon the would duck into the various rooms along their way.
Every once and a while, the group would stop, and Faust would have to ask Linus where to head to next. During this period, Andrew fired the most and because of this, his ammo supplies were running low.
"If we take a right, then another right, we'll reach the parking lot." Linus said as he held Junior.
"Alright, how're you holding up?" Faust asked.
"I'm doing alright. Shoulder's still bleeding, but if we get out of here, I'll be fine."
Faust nodded and the group continued their running. They reached a dead end and Linus told them to go through a door on their right.
"We've got to head through this room. Do. Not. Shoot. In. Here. If you do, we'll all blow up, and that is not something I want to experience. Don't even shoot in here after we've left the room, or, again, we'll all blow up." Linus said as soon as they entered the large room.
Looking around, it was clear why. This was where they were manufacturing what seemed to be artillery shells.
To put it simply, in this room, any little booms would create one big boom.
So, they all lowered their guns and booked it across the room. When they looked back, they noticed all the other's doing the same. Andrew found it strange that after all of that, neither side shot at each other. It was completely understandable of course. He wasn't an idiot, he just thought that it was strange and a little funny as well.
They made it to the second door and quickly rammed through it. They were in another hall and to their right was a large exit sign. They ran towards it and Andrew dropped his current magazine to the floor and put in another. They reached the exit door when around ten people exited the room into the hall.
There were plenty more at first, but Andrew had whittled down their numbers a lot. He didn't really kill that many, but those who got injured, somebody would stay behind to make sure they didn't die. Meaning often times two people would leave the fight for the price of one.
Andrew turned back around as the security personal aimed their guns at him. He lifted his gun and switched it to full auto. He secured the gun as tightly as he could and shot the fresh magazine in light bursts. But the rounds were anything but light. While they had been running, Andrew was making new ammo which Faust would put into a magazine for him.
When he started shooting at the security, they quickly noticed the ammo was dyed a blueish hue and had a trail. This was of course after a few of them got blown into bits by the magical rounds. The rest quickly dove into cover to avoid the rounds that would surely kill them. By the end, there were only three left.
Once Andrew got towards the end of the magazine, by his estimation, he turned and fled out the building. He was lagging slightly behind the others, and they were almost at Linus's car. Andrew caught up with them just as they noticed that Linus's tires had been slashed.
Seeing this, Andrew ran over to another car and shot a bullet through the door's window. It shattered and he reached his hand in and unlocked it. He yanked the door open and jumped in before scooting himself over to the driver's seat. He started tearing the car part and messing with wires.
Linus and Faust looked at each other for a moment before they both ran to the car. They also dragged Junior with them and shoved him onto the seat covered in glass.
"Hey, whenever you're done with that, let me drive." Faust said from the back seat. Linus and Faust were in the back, Andrew was in the driver's seat, and Junior was in the passenger's seat.
"No."
"Let me drive! I'm good at it!" Faust said with conviction.
"No! Look, I know we promised not to argue around Mathias anymore, but I'm not arguing here either!"
"I don't care about that! I'm being serious, if you drive, we are not going to get out of here!"
"Just be quiet Faust!" Andrew said as he touched some wires together and the engine revved to life. "Yes!" He exclaimed.
"Andrew! Let me drive gosh darn it!"
"N-"
"Just let him drive for fucks sake!" Linus suddenly yelled in anger.
"W- Fine!" Andrew hopped out of the car as did Faust. The two swapped places and Faust sat in the front seat.
Faust places his hands on the steering wheel delicately and made an extremely pleased face. A little too pleased…
Then, to their right they heard a loud crash. All of them looked over and saw a mumbling Leo who had just been thrown out a window. Leo stood up with a few small pieces of glass stuck in him, he was still mumbling angrily and climbed back into the window.
They all looked back at each other in confusion and Faust drove over to the window.
Then someone was thrown out the window once more. A mumbling Montague stood up with a few pieces of glass stuck in him. He walked over to the window, still mumbling, and hopped back inside.
"What the fuck…" Avery Junior mumbled while looking towards the window.
"Agreed." Linus said.
