Chapter 34 - “Here it is, Baby. Your Killer Track.”

Montague, Luke, and Leo were in a room with stairs going both up and down and Montague had kicked Luke down these steps. Luckily the steps wrapped around so Luke didn't fall that far.

After Leo had kicked Montague out the window, he noticed Faust and the others in the car, so he quickly went to help Luke up the stairs. He practically dragged Luke over to the window and as he was starting to help him down, Montague had popped up.

The three of them looked at each other. Then Montague rolled his eyes and pulled himself into the building. As Leo and Luke left as quickly as possible, Montague quickly searched the ground for the gun so he could finally shoot Leo.

Leo helped the struggling Luke down the window, and Luke began making his way over to the car very slowly. Leo turned around and saw Montague picking up the gun and turning towards Leo. Leo's eyes widened as he jumped backwards through the window.

Once more he landed on the glass, but he ignored it and turned around, running to the car. As he was running, Luke was about halfway there so Leo lifted him up entirely to mitigate the problem.

Linus opened his door and Leo threw in Luke. Since there was only one seat left and Montague was now at the window aiming the gun at them, the two just piled onto the others. Linus quickly closed the door. Montague fired a shot and there was a yelp.

"Ah! Fucking, fuck, fuck!" Linus yelled as he got hit in the leg by a bullet. Faust stomped on the gas and the car whizzed out of the parking lot.

Faust drove practically perfectly, avoiding all the parked cars and people trying to block them from leaving. If there was one problem, it was that the car's passengers were being thrown around like there was no tomorrow, especially considering two of them weren't seated yet.

Faust made it near the security gate and quickly noticed the security forces blocking the way. Luckily, they weren't firing since Junior was in the car, but that didn't mean it would be easy to leave. Faust turned and instead, he started heading towards a portion of the gate itself.

"Thank the gods everybody in this city is so cheap!" He chuckled as he began speeding up.

"Slow down!"

"Slow down! Slow down! Slow down!"

"Slow down, please…"

"Slow down, you dumbass!"

"Go faster!"

Linus, Avery, Luke, Andrew, and Leo all shouted at the same time in panic, and in someone's case, glee. Faust ignored them all except for the last as he started laughing while pressing the accelerator all the way to the floor.

The large chain link fence with barbwire on top never stood a chance. The car ripped through it sending the fence's metal everywhere.

The car landed, surprisingly, and they were even heading straight down a road without a need to turn.

"Wwhhaatt… tthhee… ffuucckk…" Junior mumbled very slowly as his body trembled. "I was kidnapped by crazy people…"

"Don't lump me in with that level of crazy." Andrew muttered.

"Someone's knee hit me in the balls." Luke groaned weakly, "You can also get off of me now Mathias."

As Faust drove, they reorganized themselves, but the car only had five seats, including that tiny one in the middle. Since nobody wanted the glass seat either, Junior got a spot for himself. It was between Leo and Luke getting a seat, but Leo knew he didn't need it as much. So, Leo was sitting awkwardly on the floor of the car.

"Suck it up, you rode all the way to Linus's house in his trunk, you're used to it." Luke said with a slightly smug face.

Leo looked irked when he saw Luke's expression, but he didn't mention it, "You know, despite being in small spaces all the time. I actually despise them. I used to have claustrophobia but shoving your body into vents constantly is nice way to get exposure therapy. Also, don't take the shoving my body into vents thing out of context."

"Wait, you were in my trunk that whole time?" Linus asked.

"Mhmm." Leo hummed with a slight nod.

"Wait, why did you do that?" Avery Junior suddenly asked.

"I was gonna kidnap him, but he just decided to go along with it."

"Huh? Are you stupid?!" Avery said as he spun around in his seat to look at Linus.

"No, you are. You and your father, your father especially, are morons."

Junior was about to say something, but instead he just leaned back in his seat with an annoyed expression.

"But you used to have claustrophobia?" Andrew asked.

"What's there to like about small spaces?" Leo replied.

"I- Hmm… Fair enough." Andrew said after thinking about it for a moment.

"Hey, uh, Linus, we need to drop off Avery, you wanna come with us or do you want me to drop you off. It's not gonna be safe for you in the city anymore."

"I'd like to come with you, but I need to see my son. Just go to," he mentioned the neighborhood where he lived, "and drop me off there."

"Oh, here's your phone by the way." Leo said as he took Linus's phone out of his pocket, "You should call your son and tell him what's happening."

Linus nodded and took the phone. He called his son and they talked for a bit.

When he hung up, he had a frown on his face, "He called the police when you took me, and the police didn't do anything. Now he's saying that there are people waiting near the house."

Leo thought for a moment and took out his phone, he called John, "Hey, I need your help with something."

"What is it? I can't help unless you want to fail."

"I know, but this should be fine. The scientist, Linus, the one from the intel, wants to get protection from the Abyss. He helped us get Avery and he'd know the most about what they were working on at the plant's lab."

John was silent for a moment as he thought, "Hmm, alright, I'll send someone to pick him up."

The two worked out the details for a bit and Leo eventually hung up the phone. He looked towards Linus and gave him a slight thumbs up. Linus smiled a bit in response.

Some time went by with the car being silent. Everybody was resting while gently nursing any of the wounds they received. Of course, they didn't have much to nurse themselves with considering they were in a random car, but they did tightly wrap up any of their wounds.

"Infections? Never heard of them." Luke said proudly as he wrapped his leg up in his shirt. His leg, due to being a blood angel, was already healing nicely but it didn't hurt to wrap it up in dirty clothing.

Oh wait, it does.

"We're here." Faust said as he pulled the car over, "I think they're waiting for you over at that building if the address Mathias gave me is correct.

"Gentlemen, I'd like to say it was an honor, but since I was shot twice, I'm allowed to say it wasn't. Maybe I'll get to see you all sometime soon." Linus said as he got out of the car. He gave a slight wave as he started walking away with a limp while holding his shoulder.

Leo tried to get up from the floor, but everything was cramped. When he tried, there were a few pops coming from his bones and a groan escaped his mouth. "Someone help me up please."

Luke reached out and helped lift Leo up. Leo made his way over and sat in the seat. He stretched his legs as Faust started driving again. Faust tapped on the steering wheel in boredom as the car once again descended to silence. Faust hummed slightly and leaned over, turning on the radio.

A song came on and Faust's face distorted in disgust, and he began to change the stations. Avery Junior looked out the window in acceptance of his situation. Might as well see the sights of the city one last time.

Eventually Faust settled on a song.

"Ooohhh. Bright Town Rock by King. Nice, I haven't heard this song in a long time."

The song started with some festival music and Faust began tapping the steering wheel with a smile. The car kept driving as the song started to pick up. The festival music stopped, and a guitar started playing instead. When this happened Junior's brows raised slightly as he noticed something outside the car.

He looked back at Faust for a moment and quickly thought. Then, suddenly he leaned over and yanked the steering wheel, causing the car to almost swerve out of control. Andrew hit Junior in the back of the head as Faust recovered the car.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" Andrew yelled at Junior.

A police officer's siren erupted from behind them suddenly.

"Shit!" Luke exclaimed as Andrew leaned forward and punched Junior again, this time much, much harder, knocking him out. Faust stepped on the gas and the officer quickly followed suit.

Faust smiled as he looked out the rearview mirror and spoke, "I haven't done this in a long time."

The song began picking up significantly and Faust cranked the radio all the way up.
