It is summer vacation, where little Kaiden is only six years old, who wonders around outside playing with the sticks he found at nowhere. He thinks of imitating as a wizard, where every time he marches forward, Kaiden casts fireballs and imagines that he has bodyguards with him at the back.
He commences his journey to fulfill his challenging task, which is to visit James' house, his best friend. However, someone bothers him. One kid seemed to be a stalker for little Kaiden as he always follows around outside, hiding in a far distance. It happened to him like five times already that he's been followed, so he decided to figure out what's the kid is up to by reverse psychology, where it's his turn to hide and sneak towards him.
"Gotcha!" Exclaims Kaiden, who successfully surprises the kid as he suddenly appears from the back of the tree. His great sneaking ability has paid off.
The kid draws back and slips; there, he falls from the ground as he's startled. He then mutters as what he said was only a word been told repeatedly and immediately whines with his tears, casually dropping to the dry and rough ground, where the place seems to be in high heat as it's early afternoon.
"Woah, you're the bullied kid that I helped." He remembers with his amazed expression, where that time from five days ago, Kaiden barges in to stand up for him as the kid feels hopeless, hurt, and hatred from the bullies. No kid should be miserably put into those situations, where they should be enjoying their childhood and f*CK superiority as they are all equal with one heart and soul as Kaiden's mother thought that to him.
The kid hears his words and still whines as he feels embarrassed for Kaiden to recall those past days. Kaiden surveys him; he looks like the same age as his, much shorter than him, and complete opposite of him in terms of personality, family situations, and way to interact with his emotions, such as that he doesn't smile. He starts asking him if his assumptions are correct but unfortunately, the kid doesn't talk, so he's pretending that he's talking to his loyal soldiers as he has one right now.
"Hey, you and I are now friends. If those bullies try to hurt you again, I'll fight for you as I should protect my soldiers! I-I mean friends!" He exclaims with exaggerated confidence as he even raises his stick, pointing above, where Kaiden imagined that he summoned thunder in random places and caused a house on fire.
The kid's eyes sparkled in mischief with a jaw dropped as he's genuinely amazed and inspired by his bravery. He then nods as he agrees with him, where at least his head gestures will use to respond for Kaiden.
"Great! Let's continue on our task." He recommences marching to the arrival of their destination, and his new friend follows along at the back. The kid observes the way he marches on every step of his way, he tries to sync his movements, and he does it as it's just so easy.
As they arrived at James' house, Kaiden outcries to call them through their simple home, saying that he's here to play together. It is simple like a commoner citizen, not too big or small and either poor or rich because they live between, with their simple and single mom.
James steps outside, looking confused, right after he sees the kid who's with Kaiden. "Uhm, who's that?" They say in a girly accent. James even surveys him at every part, where the way they look at him is pretty feminine. And of course, all of them didn't know about gender expression, sexual orientations as they are too young to understand. What is suitable for at least is that they are trying to be themselves.
For James to understand, Kaiden introduces him in every detail, including how he met him and how he acts. James then agrees to have a third friend, and he even said that the more, the merrier the fun they will be having.
They play a few games and results that they truly are having fun, "This is amazing if we play together as three!" Kaiden says, smiling, where he hoped that this could happen every single day as it counts.
"I agree; let's promise altogether that we should be best friends forever," James suggests, raising his one hand then places it in mid-air between them.
"Okay!" He happily exclaims, placing his one hand above Jaimes, and the new friend follows along. "One, two, three, friends forever!" Kaiden and James say it aloud.
Years have passed, James is about to transfer to a distant place. Because James' mom is about to marry a wealthy foreigner and their mom tells them that James should continue their studies in Manila. Kaiden and the kid waves their goodbyes at him on the heavy rainy day. They even hug and express each other smiles as if they promised that soon they'd meet each other again in person.
"Bye, James." Little Kaiden sobs, so as the kid, where he is besides little Kaiden, and their mission as the three little princes has now come to an end in melancholy.
"Bye," James waves back at the behind of the car, through the back window where Kaiden and the kid, standing and crying simultaneously under the umbrella, which is good enough to cover for the two of them.
Another few years have gone by, Kaiden's parents died from a helicopter crash accident due to the technical malfunction. Kaiden was devastated. His family's company got shut down from few days after the incident since Kaiden can't handle it yet. What is left is the property that is worth half of a billion. Auntie Marites came right after she knew about it and started taking care of Kaiden and decided to move out at her place, where another chapter of his life begins in a simple province.
As they are at the airport, little Kaiden realizes that he has forgotten something. An essential thing that he shouldn't miss out, which is to say goodbye to his friend. Kaiden still didn't know what his name is. However, he made a made-up name after their few days of friendship since he doesn't talk, and he understands that. He called him a knight soldier.
"Auntie, I forgot to say goodbye." He pleases Auntie to go back.
"No, Kaiden. We're going to miss the plane if we go back," She strictly replies, with his head shaking for disagreement.
"But Auntie," Kaiden echoes, try to beg for Auntie.
"Kai, no means no!" She outcries, with her fierce expression turned into a scowl.
Little Kaiden heads down, lowering the curve of his mouth as his face clouded with melancholy. He feels sorry, feels guilt, and what's worst of all is that he also thinks that the kid keeps on knocking from his mansion, expecting little Kaiden to come out and play.
What if he stayed there the whole afternoon?
What if no one will protect him unless it's me?
Will he be okay? Poor Knight Soldier - Little Kaiden
