A night where this moment can't get any darker from every minute had passed. Few are a tiny bit more relaxed. They get to go home after this. They also get to enjoy the cool breeze while looking forward to enjoying spotting constellations from above.
We have walked a quarter-mile and still another quarter left to reach the dormitory. Jaime and I are still talking about the famous person officially enrolled to study here in the university with the expected time of 5 days from now.
I don't know why that he is a bit late,
probably he was still on vacation or family matters.
"You're saying five days. What is this a package delivery?" I told a joke to Jaime, then we both laugh together excessively. A little entertainment can strike off the boredom, and Jaime here is very clever in terms of making people laugh.
Then there's something that comes to Jaime's mind, begins asking about it, and her face has changed for being severe, "Hey..." Jaime pats my shoulder, making me focus on them?
"Yes, Jaime?" I asked what is it about.
"What if the famous student will ever try to make a move on you?" Jaime seriously asked me, gesturing their index finger that is pointing above.
"Pfft... don't be ridiculous, Jaime. I mean... no offense." I yawned after. My tone is somehow not getting friendly because I'm getting sleepy.
Jaime gasps in surprise with their hand, gesturing to their mouth, "Oh? I'm saying those words in a serious matter, Kai."
I eyed Jaime and begins to realize that Jaime starts to seek answers earnestly by just observing their expression. "I'm not some sort of deuteragonist in each of everyone's story which is the second of the most important role, especially that guy we are talking about, Jaime." So I keep an eye on the road and into their eyes alternatively as I speak confidently.
You're thinking way too much where I am now getting involved.
I even don't have time for that stuff.
"But sometimes we also consider ourselves as the antagonist in someone's story too, Kaiden. Not all stories from other people describe us a good people. Furthermore, you're generalizing your thoughts." Jaime told me, and it's true.
This rarely happens sometimes from Jaime, where I can truly learn something, and I'm okay about it because, unlike other people, I don't feel embarrassed to be wrong. I'm lucky to be with them as my best friend, and sometimes I include it in my ongoing novels because I have thought about sharing facts coming from Jaime, which can also inform or educate them.
I smile and look at Jaime, "Thanks, Jaime, I have never thought of that deeper until now. Sorry for opposing you. By the way, I'm going to write it down for my next novel." I chuckle after and smile.
I forgot mentioning about my passion and goals. I'm a writer. I always imagine things that will happen extraordinary from my thoughts and write them down and share them with everyone and about the goals. Then, after I graduate, I probably start a business where I will be using my parents' money for the capital or funds. That's all, I guess.
"I'm sure that all of your references in writing a novel are mostly coming from me. Hmph?" Jaime starts gesturing, pointing their finger at me with a joyful attitude.
"You have guessed it right, Jaime." I chuckle, grinning after.
"Well... I can't wait to read it if it's done."
We have finally arrived at our dormitory safely. We both take the stairs to the 2nd floor after letting ourselves in, where Jaime and I live on the same floor in the dormitory.
"So Kayden, see you tomorrow. I'll wait for you at your door," Jaime told me, smiling in tightly-lipped.
"Okay, Jaime. Thanks again." I responded, smiling at the back.
"But I will knock, just in case if you are still sleeping." They said, reminding me.
"Don't mind me to bother. Bye!" I wave my hand in midair. Then Jaime waves me back and grins before going.
Minding my own self's business starts once I have entered my dorm. I'm alone when living here, which is pretty acceptable for focusing on my writing novels, except for my loud neighbor. I start preparing before bed by cooking the rice that serves two meals, one for today's dinner and one for tomorrow. Then I immediately take a bath with cold water peacefully despite the sound of nozzle water from the showerhead. I rinse myself and head to the closet after bath. I wear my pajamas and proceed to go to the kitchen and prepare for my dinner. My meal for tonight's dinner is rice with chicken noodles. I straightforwardly head to wash the dishes and brush my teeth after dinner.
I finally have done the work responsibly, so I turned off the lights and started lying on my bed. Before closing my eyes, I check out my phone if someone messaged me. And it turns out that there is one. It's Jaime.
"See you tomorrow, and I forgot to tell you that there is a reopening of an amusement park. Make sure you'll come so that I won't be alone." I read Jaime's message.
"Okay, goodnight!" I replied. Then I shut down my device and start falling asleep.
Goodnight...
A yesterday had passed for another one to replace. The light of dawn seeped into my room from my curtains. I rubbed my bleary eyes and walked to the window. There was a pearly glow in the sky. I woke up and removed myself off from the bed, stretching before preparing for school. After that, I took a shower, wore my uniform correctly, ate my breakfast with salt-free omelet and rice, brushed my teeth, checked my notebooks, and grabbed my phone after charging. Everything is now ready, including my dorm key.
Jaime knocked gently three times on my door and said, "Kai?"
It's 7 am, the exact perfect time for Jaime to arrive."Coming Jaime," I said, then I commence myself to the door and open. My eye shifted directly to Jaime as I open the door, seeing them using their smartphones.
Jaime immediately shuts their phone once they heard the creaking sound from my door," Let's go!" Jaime said, staring at me and smiles. Then they hold my arm tightly locked before we go, and I'm just getting along with this.
Some people think of us as a couple, well... I don't care
As long Jaime feels comfortable and suitable,
we don't care how other people think.
We rode an uber to our university. They somehow managed it from an app to book a ride, and they already paid online for easy transactions.
Jaime knew about my financial life that I only earn 180 pesos per day, despite having my parents' money, which I already decided it's for my starting business, not for my daily expenses. So they decided to cover it up from me, the dorm rent, uber, etc. The tuition is free because I have a scholarship from being a valedictorian in my senior high school.
We have arrived at the university after few minutes. We dropped ourselves off freely from the car. "So Kaiden, see you later then. I'll check you at lunch," Jaime spoke, left with a bit of reminder and.
"Okay, Jaime, and thanks for the ride." I snorted from nowhere.
"Oh, don't have to thank me, it's my fault that I don't have a car. Besides, you can save a little more of your money, right?" Jaime told me, smiling.
I nodded to respond and smiled back. Then, we start walking in different directions to our first class. I hope this another day would feel the same as yesterday.
