Chapter 10 - A Walk in the Park

Birds chirp while the insects buzz as we arrived at the school's park. It's a place with lots of flowers. The hedges were shaped like a maze. The amount of effort students and teachers put in resulted in this magnificent park financed by the principal. The smiles, sweats, and complaints that we felt that week is something memorable.

We stared at the park maze's entrance. There were 5 different paths. There's still one hour before returning to the dormitory. We decided to go in separate directions to take some fresh air before gathering in the center of the maze-shaped park. We split then wandered in our own ways.

Farina wandered past a birdcage. She turned back and steps towards the birdcage. She gazes at it. Adoring the charm of nature. The birds fluttered while chirping with various rhythms as she touches the glass enclosure. As someone who loves nature, she would relish treasuring the moment. She sighed, standing up while tapping her uniform. She turned her body to continue her tour. She glances at the birdcage then resumes walking.

The buzzing sound of bees grows louder as he was approaching it. Rahim saw an insect vivarium as soon as he walked past a hedge decorated with bulbs and wood planks. He stares at the bees, gathering pollen and honey from flowers, appreciating it. Rahim took a liking to insects since he was little. He never forgets to catch bugs if he went to his village. Suddenly, he heard a rustling sound in the bushes. He focused his eye at the rustled hedge from afar, nothing. He continues to stare at the bees.

"What a time to be alive," we all thought.

Farina and Rahim arrived at the center at the same time. They crossed eye with each other. They then directed their sights toward the main attraction of the park, an enormous Luminaks flower. The biggest species of flower in the world. A flower that would glow at night thanks to its fluorescent property. They can't see the glow since there's still sunlight. Yet, parts of the flowers that were covered with shadows were showing some of its fluorescents. Rahim dropped himself towards the flower, trying to hug it. The flower is so big Rahim only put his hand on the petal, not hugging it. Farina laughed at Rahim's childish behavior.

"Where's Charle?" Farina asked.

"How would I know about your boyfriend. I just arrived here," Rahim replied, teasing her while still trying to hug the flower.

"You're searching for me?" a voice can be heard.

Taken aback, Rahim flinched from the flower's petal. Rahim and Farina looked in the direction of the sound. It's coming from the flower's stigma. Rahim and Farina were confused about who got there and how. They both peeked at the flower's stigma from the petal. Suddenly, something touched their back. Rahim and Farina turned their head towards their back.

"Surpri-"

Farina slapped the guy while Rahim punched his stomach. The guy fell over. Rahim and Farina tried to kick him.

"CHOTTO MATTE!!! IT'S ME!" he wailed.

Rahim and Farina stare at the guy with a piercing eye. They both were shocked when they see the condition of that guy. That guy was bleeding and coughing blood. Farina and Rahim crossed eye at each other since they cant recognize that guy. A surge of guilt felt in them. Rahim attempted to give a helping hand to that guy. Suddenly that guy went static and disappeared into thin air.

"Are these my friends?" I spouted sarcastically. I was sitting on a chair in the direction Rahim came from.

"We... Anyway, why did you do that?" Rahim demanded an answer.

"Yeah, why?" Farina supporting him.

I glared at those two. "I'm just testing you. If there were really a terrorist attack, you guys would be dead by now. That's all," I answered briefly.

Both of them are still bewildered by how I managed to pull that trick. They stood silently, thinking what just happened. Their brain blanked while staring in the direction of the sound they just heard.

"Who's there?" Rahim pointing out inside the flower.

I sighed. I pulled out my phone attached to a fishing line, practically invincible, from the flower's petal. Rahim and Farina stare at my phone being dragged on the ground. They gazed at the sky, nodding. They finally understand how I pulled the trick. I felt relief as they finally understand basic things.

I gaze at the Luminak. "Isn't it beautiful?"

"Yeah," Rahim responded. He turned his head towards me. "Yeah, it is."

I took Farina's palm. She smiles. We all stare at the flower together. After some time, Farina rushes us to the parking lot. We ran, leaving the flower. Hoping to see it again sometime.
