Chapter 12 - Alissa Smith

All of a sudden, the gang leader, Richard Snider's, flames died out. Everyone was surprised. The gang members were shocked. The girl, who Aron thought was mute, gasped. And the gang leader showed an expression of disbelief, since he was sure he had mana left.

However, Aron wasn't surprised.

He groaned and lifted his body up.

Then, unexpectedly, flames started burning from the tip of Aron's hands. Slowly, they traced up to his palms and then his shoulders. Unlike Richard's flames, Aron's flames felt much hotter and brighter.

Aron wondered if it was because his flames were feeding on Primordial Chaos.

Everyone was staring at Aron. He looked just like an Angel that fell from the Heavens. His hoodie had burned away revealing his otherworldly beauty. The flames in his hand felt like holy fire which would vanquish all evil. Nobody could take their eyes off him.

However, Aron was too excited to notice the stares pointed towards him.

Yes. This is it. My plan is a success!

He had successfully managed to make use of the appraisal tool and Universal Shift in order to transfer Richard Snider's skill to his skill board.

Aron rejoiced. He was the first human in the world to have more than one skill. But, he knew it wasn't a time to celebrate.

"Aaargh! Why do you have my skill?" The gang leader roared and got ready to pounce on Aron.

However, before Richard could move, Aron swiftly landed a punch in his guts. Even though Aron had taken Richard's skills, Richard still was a class above him. Each time he punched Richard, it felt as if he was hitting an iron wall. Then, finally, after hitting Richard with several flaming fists, Richard fainted.

He then turned his head towards the gang members who were harassing the beautiful girl, but they had already escaped when they noticed their gang leader was being beaten.

Groaning, Aron fell to the ground. He hadn't left the fight unscathed. In fact, he was barely able to muster the strength to stand up, when he was punched by the gang leader. Without any energy to move, Aron muttered his house's address, hoping the girl would understand. Then, he immediately fainted.

Alissa Smith was a proud, independent woman. At least on the surface that is. She was actually a very lonely and sad girl.

Her parents were internationally known businessmen. They believed work was more important than family. All her life, Alissa grew without love or someone to rely on. Her parents, who never came home, always told her to focus on her studies. And that's what she did, hoping she could get love in return. But what did she get?

All she got was isolation from classmates and ostracization in society. She was on the verge of breaking down.

Today, as she was returning to home from her parent's funeral, she confronted gangsters. She was star struck. She didn't know whom to call or whom to ask for help. Her parents were dead, and even if they were alive, they wouldn't care. All she could do was await doom.

However, suddenly, as a beacon of hope in her sea of despair, a man appeared before her and the gangsters. The gangsters thought the man was a fool and started beating him. But, the man, instead of running away and tending his injuries, was yelling at her to escape. Unexpectedly, rather than a fool, she thought of the man was a hero. The type she had secretly read in comic books when her parents weren't at home.

Unable to take her eyes off the man, she stayed rooted to her spot, trying to understand what she was feeling. She had never felt it before. Each time the man got hurt, it felt as if hundreds of weights were pressed across her chest. She felt as if she would cry. But she never cried, not even when her parents died she thought. She wondered if this was the so-called "love" she had read in novels. She had yet to experience any. After all, nobody, not even her parents, loved her.

By the end of the fight, she had decided.

She wanted to learn more about this man and her feelings.
