"You better have a good reason for ruining my sleep" Xiu Lin Mie -Xiu Hao Tieng's little sister- said joining everyone in the living room. She was still peacefully sleeping when Bing Wen knocked on her door like a mad man, softly commanding her to come downstairs insisting that he had some important family news to deliver to everyone. Now that she was in the living room, she wondered why the Chens were also there, since this was supposed to be a family matter she didn't expect to see the Chens there most especially her brother clinging to Gang Zhi with drowsy eyes as if he wanted to sleep, like a little child clinging to his mommy.
Finding a suitable spot to sit she asked, " No offense intended but if this is a family matter then why are The Chens here?"
"Because this is their family matter." Bing Wen replied standing in front of everyone. Hearing his reply everyone was confused especially The Chens. How was this their family matter? The warlock didn't know anything personal about them. Even Hao Tieng who was alittle bit sleepy before was fully awake now, hearing that it concerned his mate's family.
"Our family matter?" Quang Ho asked the question everyone in the room wanted to ask. Frowning in confusion, he asked again, " What do you mean?"
Sighing, Bing Wen started to explain, "At around three in the morning, I came downstairs to get some medicine for my headache when I found Yung Tang in the kitchen..... and we talked, he told me about the accident that you think killed your parents more than a century ago." he paused, seeing that the three siblings were now facing Yung Tang with deadly glares. Although almost every supernatural knew the story of how The Chen siblings lost their parents, it was still a sensitive topic and a family matter at that, which they never liked to speak of.
Noticing the glares his siblings were giving him for having told the warlock about the most sensitive topic in their family, he quickly defended himself, "Don't look at me like that. I had booze in my system. You think I would've told him if I was in my right state of mind."Yung Tang said ignoring the glares.
Tearing their glares from the lad, they once again faced Bing Wen, urging him to continue to which the warlock did "After our talk, I just felt like something was missing from the information he told me, like something wasn't adding up. So, with the help of my inner detective and alittle bit of magic, I found out something that....." he paused, then added " I think you would like." he said with a smile hoping that what he was going to tell the siblings would make them happy, little did he know that his discovery was only going to cause rumbles in The Chen family.
Hao Tieng, on the other hand ,watched how his mate's expression changed from confusion to anger then to confusion again. He had just found out that his bestfriend was a warlock and he still couldn't believe it.
"After my talk with Yung Tang, I went to the road where the accident happened and with my magic, I replayed the accident. The truck wasn't the only thing that caused the car to flip." he stated making everyone confused once again. Lin Mie, on the other hand, didn't understand what her family was doing there in the first place. Sure her older brother, Hao Tieng, had to be there since he was Gang Zhi's mate, but her, she didn't have any reason being there but she remained still in her seat, waiting for the anticipated shocking revelation.
"There was also a werewolf and a siren on that road that night. The siren was controlling the truck driver that drove into your car but the werewolf didn't do anything, it was just there, waiting for something or in this case someone." he was about to continue but was interrupted.
"Are you saying that our parents were killed.... and by supernaturals? They didn't have an accident." Yung Jen who had been silent all this time, asked.
"Well... Yes and No." the warlock replied making all four siblings to frown. "When the car flipped and your aunt came to remove Gang Zhi from the car, she didn't find the bodies." he added making the siblings to furrow their brows in confusion.
"What do you mean, she didn't find the bodies? She told us she buried them, we visit their graves every year." Gang Zhi said with a calm but threatening expression on his handsome face to which the siblings nodded in response.
"Exactly! I was also confused at first but then I figured that I must have missed something. So I rewound back fifteen seconds before your aunt removed Gang Zhi and...I saw them getting out of the car. I saw your parents getting out of the car unharmed." he said beaming with excitement. He didn't how the siblings were going to react when they saw the guest he tracked down.
"What are you trying to say warlock?" Quang Ho asked through gritted teeth. For some reason, whatever the warlock said made him angry, he didn't get why but he was and the warlock seemed like he was beating around the bush instead of just spitting out what he wanted to say.
"I'm saying that your parents didn't die in the accident. They're alive and I know where they are, well atleast one of them." Bing Wen said flashing his pearl white teeth.
"LIES!!" Gang Zhi growled, then walked out of the room leaving everyone stunned and confused. Gang Zhi couldn't or didn't want to believe that his parents were still alive cause if they were, that means they abondoned them and he didn't want to believe that.
"I'll go get him." Hao Tieng quickly said running after his mate.
"Are you lying, warlock?" Quang Ho asked, this time with a calm expression and not through gritted teeth.
"Why would I lie? If you don't believe me, I have evidence." Bing Wen said and on cue the front doorbell rang confusing the remaining people in the room. The Xius didn't expect any visitors much so, this early in the morning. He ran towards the door and opened it urging the person to enter. The moment the woman stepped into the living room, everyone including The Xius was surprised/ shocked to see her.
To The Xius, she was The Siren Queen-the woman they just signed a peace treaty with-so they were confused to why she was at their home but to The Chens, she was the woman they thought had died more than a century ago, their mother.
Yung Jen was the first to react, uttering the word 'mother' before she lost consciousness. Quang Ho quickly rushed to his sister, holding her in his arms before she hit the ground. "Jennie" he heard his mother's voice call out then later saw her hand caressing Yung Jen's face. Looking up to see his mother's face, there were alot of emotions he couldn't voice out. Anger, Confusion, Love, Joy, Fear. She still looked the same like the last time he saw her. Same dark eyes -caring as ever, black silky hair, pale white skin, thin lips. She was the female version of Gang Zhi.
Feeling a soft touch on his cheeks, he snapped out of his daze. Looking at the hand on his cheeks, he frowned. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" he growled removing his mother's hand from his cheeks. Before she can act like a loving and caring mother, he wanted answers to his many questions. Standing up with his sister in his arms, he trailed his way up the stairs and without sparing his mother a single glance, he said "If you cared about us....like how you said all those years ago, you shouldn't have come back. You could've spared us the pain of knowing that our mother abondoned us." and with those hurtful words, he dashed into the room they had given him yesterday and placed Yung Jen gently on the bed before he broke, crying.
Feeling torn and hurt, she stood to her feet and locked eyes with Yung Tang, a smile formed on her delicate beautiful face as she walked closer to him. "My Dear." she said, a tear trailing down her unblemished cheeks as she pulled him into a tight hug. She loved and cared for him just as much as she did her children. Yung Tang didn't know how to react to the hug. The woman he thought died years ago was standing right infront of him and she wasn't a ghost as he first anticipated when he saw him. He had hated his mother all this while, thinking she killed the mother figure in his life yet here she was. Alive! All this time she despised his mother yet the woman was still ALIVE!!
Overwhelmed with alot of emotions especially anger, he gently pushed the woman away. "All this time I hated my mother" he started, tears threatening to fall any second "Because I thought she was the reason why you died." he added before he was interrupted.
"I'm sorry. I really am but my people needed me. I had----" she tried to explain but didn't finish her words when Yung Tang spoke again.
"Your people?! You abandoned us for your people!! Okay, maybe they needed you. Their Queen!! And what about us? You could've told us, we might have understood. We could've visited, we're all sirens afterall but you went and played dead. I was going to kill my mother. MY MOTHER!!!" he yelled the last part losing control of the tears he was holding back. "You know what. Quang Ho is right. You should've just remained dead." he added and dashed out the back glass door.
