Roland was stumbling through the streets in Demacia someday when the king was returning from a campaign and the people gathered at the streets to witness his triumphant return. Of course Roland saw this as a good opportunity to get some money for himself and started to pickpocket one after another and made quite a fortune. One of his victims noticed him and a brawl brake out between the two of them. which ended with Roland beeing thrown into the middle of the street right in front of the King and his royal guard. A man clad in grey and golden armor with a blue cape approached him. Garen, the Might of Demacia. Everyone knew him and his deeds he did for Demacia and the royal family. Garen kneeled down to Roland. "Are you okay?" he asked. Roland only answered with a nod. "Then get out of my kings way right this instant." Garen angrily added. Roland hastily got out of the street and hurried to get on top of a building to keep an eye on the parade.
After watching the whole parade go by Roland had only one thought: "How dare he speak down to me when I was obviously thrown there. Though I know I can't take him on in a duel I bet I can use my skills to take on of his beloved possesions." With the dawning of the next day Roland kept on following and creeping around Garen to get used to his daily routines and to learn more about him and what he loved. He often followed him to a blacksmith and tried to listen in on the conversations but he couldn't quite hear what they were talking about. At least it wasn't about the weapon he was carrying or the armor he was wearing Roland concluded since he entered with them and left too soon as that the blacksmith could have tempered with them. So Garen must have ordered something either for himself or someone higher ranking that him. The next day Roland made sure to disguise himself and be in the blacksmiths shop before Garen entered so he could listen in. What he heard made his heart jump with joy. "So how is it going with my order?" Garen asked. "Ay, well 'tis going well. Though never has anyone ordered something so unique. To think that the first order like that would come from the Sword-Captain of the Dauntless Vanguard is nothing I would have ever thought." "So how long will it take until you finish it?" "It should take around 3 more days. You can come and pick it up early mornin'." After hearing this Garen left and Roland went ahead and purchased a dagger and a couple throwing knives to prepare for something he had waited for.
The next 2 days Roland laid low and stopped following Garen but on the third day when Garen went to pick up the order Roland kept a close eye on him. He saw him exiting the Blacksmith with a large thing wrapped in cloth so he couldn't see what it exactly was but he guessed a new weapon for our oh so powerfull captain. He kept on following him and saw him walking to his estate instead of going to the palace. Roland waited paitently for Garen to return and when he did he saw that he wasn't carrying it anymore. "So that's where he will keep it. Okay then, I guess I will be visiting the Crownguard estate tonight."
