Chapter 2 - (Morven's perspective) Chapter 2: Settling in

"Bye Da- oh," I said realising that my dad was already gone. As we turned around to face the school, which was in the middle of nowhere. Even if we were to escape soon, there would be nowhere to run. It was big and very posh. Is it really nothing like the 1980s?

"Well hello girls," said a very posh woman with blonde hair that was neck-length and creepy like. Who is this?! I mean I would've been impressed if it was a homeless nicely dressed person, but that perspective changes when it comes to knowing that there is a school right behind. A boarding school, where you sleep, learn, eat and repeat.

"Hello Mrs…" Lian said trying to get her to introduce her name. From what I know, Lian is very cheeky and can go undercover many times without people realising. Except me of course. I've seen her multiple times, why wouldn't I know? I've known her for 6 years.

"I'm sorry girls, how very rude of me, I'm Mrs Miller. The headmistress. Now if you follow me, I'll give you a tour of the school," Mrs miller said in a weird accent that is just so posh.

"How amazing," I said mimicking her voice. Lian snorted.

"Excuse me!" Said Mrs Miller turning around sharply. She looked like she wanted to kill us.

"Oh," I stammered "I just said uh…that…umm…I can't wait! The school…looks…lovely," I said clearing my throat. Turning around, and walking again, Mrs Miller continued the tour. Lian looked at me and started acting out what she did, making me laugh.

Soon, she led us to 2 large, solid oak doors.

"Doriato Opiano!" Mrs Miller practically shouted in my ear making me frown like…'what? Excuse me?' And also causing me to put my hand on my ears of pain. "I'm just kidding, you pull the handle to open it, look!" She continued making me and Lian want to jump off a cliff of annoyance.

"SO amazing!" Lian whispered sarcastically, rolling her eyes.

Once we got out of the whole door malarky, Mrs Miller ushered us inside and my frustrated mood stopped straight away. My eyes dropped open in amazement! The crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling and 2 golden staircases leading to a grand balcony and a corridor.

"Oh my Jaffa Cakes!" Lian gasped. "It looks like a…palace!" She uttered in excitement. I guess we might like it here. The atmosphere and view is nice but that might all be ruined when we see too much posh people and stuff…

"I know right!" I said so fascinated by the whole view of this place. I wonder what else is in surprise for us next.

Up the stairs and along the corridor we went. Peering down I noticed that we were levitated.

"Now this is a separate building but you don't have to go outside, genius isn't it?" Said Mrs Miller making Lian look at me.

"Does she think we are dumb?" Whispered Lian to me in a 'seriously?!' Tone.

"I think she needs medical attention!" I whispered back to her making her laugh silently.

"Isn't it ladies?" Mrs Miller asked waiting for an answer.

"Umm yeah?" I hesitatingly agreed. Honestly, even I could've invented something like that.

Mrs Miller brought us to a halt through a slightly smaller door. "Now." She said. "This is the dorm wing. You girls are in dorm eight, on the left hand side, with, let me see, ah yes, Lilah Wong," She said "that annoying Korean-good for nothing!" Mrs Miller continued muttering under her breath.

"Thanks…" said Lian with a slight hint of uncertainty in her voice.

"Oh girls," Mrs Miller called as we were going to the dorm. "Before you go, you just need the daytime schedule!"

"Ok," I said reaching out for the piece of laminated sheet of paper.

"Oooh posh," Lian remarked.

"I know, we don't waste trees here at Kay hill," She said confusing me and Lian….Isn't there paper inside the laminated sheet?

When we got to the dorm, our roommate Lilah wasn't there. Lian and I took our pick from the remaining 2 double very neatly tidied beds. Which meant that Lilah has the bed by the door, Lian in the middle and mine by the window, yay!

We each have our own dressing tables and chests of drawers. There were 2 doors to the bathroom, one between Lilah and Lian's bed and one between mine and Lian's beds.

There are curtains between each bed (only to be drawn at bedtime). A massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Wow! I didn't know that we would have one ourselves! And the carpet was red making the room glitter in such a warm royal way. It felt really historic.

The bathroom was wide and big and had 3 showers, one sink and one toilet. We also had a big cabinet-probably to put our toothbrushes and toothpaste and skin care products and all that…Phew! Let me breathe.

The coolest thing in our whole room was that, get this, we all had keys to our room (dorm 8). Which means, we can lock our room and Party! That's until we find out who the person in our dorm, Lilah Wong, is. Just to avoid any snitching...you know?

Me and Lian sat down and I started to read the big schedule sheet.

"Wake up on Bell, six-thirty am" I said reading it out.

"What?! That is SO early…I normally wake up at eight! That's an hour and a half wasted from my beauty sleep!" Lian complained so sad because her 'sleep' was so important to her.

"Oh Lian! It's just an hour and a half! What can hurt?" I was saying trying to wind her up, and it worked. She looked at me like 'don't EVEN try Morven!'

"Hey! Keep on reading, stop laughing, your 'plan' didn't work okay!" She said frustrated making me try so hard in pulling myself together.

"Breakfast at seven-thirty and first lesson starts at eight-thirty am," I continued with Lian nodding her head.

"That sounds normal, jeesh! Who wakes up at six-thirty?! Well whoever does is a total loser, I bet you that." Lian kept uttering.

"You know that's gonna be us," I answered her making her more mad, she tumbled on my bed and then got up again very quickly.

"Give me that," She said snatching the laminated sheet off me looking wound up.

"Why are you so mad just because an HOUR and a HALF are gone from this 'beauty sleep' of yours." I asked curiously. It's always fun to watch her moody like this.

"Because Morven! It clearly doesn't matter to you, you stay up watching murder mysteries!" She continued making a slight flush of embarrassment rush through me.

"What? It's not my fault! Plus I've stopped that habit now," I said trying to shut that subject.

"Hmph!" She pulled a face. "Anyway! Seems like we have two lessons in the morning. Then we have break which goes from ten-thirty to ten-fifty five am," she read out.

"Cool! We have twenty minutes of break, add the five extra minutes of course," I said smiling to her. Seems like she was cheered up now.

"I know, It's nice isn't it! Our old high school only had fifteen minutes, this is an update," She continued. And I came to sit next to her and read out the rest since I felt a little useless just listening to her.

"After break we have another two lessons before lunch. Which means two hours before, because every lesson is one hour right?" I said questioning myself.

"Yes, but we have to wait two hours!" She said annoyed again. She really had a point. Apart from sleep...the food is just as crucial.

"Ugh, seriously…but I think it's better than having to have to go home to have lunch, like we did at our old school," I continued making my point.

"Oh don't even remind me! I had a hard time surviving. It's true though, you have a point."

"After lunch is our last lesson which ends at three pm," I remarked.

"Hey, it says 'Extra study time until five-thirty', which is dinner!" Lian said so excited. "That means we can do what we wish after that right?!"

"Duh! We as Boarding school girls have to have time to ourselves too." I said being serious. "And really? Extra study? Ouch!" I continued making Lian nod in agreement.

"We'd also probably be detecting and getting to know people," Lian was saying in a cheeky way which made us both smirk. But, we quickly snapped back to reality and continued reading.

"Prep seven to eight. When we get into our dorms, we must change to go to bed at eight-forty to nine pm."

"She said we had to be in bed, but we weren't told to sleep" Lian remarks to me "And…We have locks to our doors," she finished holding up her key.

"Didn't you literally just say that you needed this 'beauty sleep'," I said winding up Lian again.

"Morven. Shut. The. Hell. Up," Lian said back to me clapping every word, whispering it very loudly.

"Sorry!" I put my hands up in the air for her not to pillow attack me.

"Anyway, we can stay up all night if we wished" she told me again. I think she wants to lecture me on how not to wind her up now. It's fun though, entertainment is my key to life!

"True…Well, it is a long schedule. But for now, since it's five-thirty pm, I think it's…"

"DINNER TIME!" We both shouted excited that we would go eat food after a long ride on the tiring car that my dad owns. Seriously, my butt was very numb from sitting there for 1 hour!
