Chapter 3 - (Lian's perspective) Chapter 3: Dinner Chaos

Just as we were about to head off to dinner, Mrs Miller stopped us. "Girls, I've forgotten to tell you that we will be giving the weekend schedules out tomorrow."

Me and Morven question ourselves. "But aren't we supposed to go home and visit our family?" I asked a bit worried because I actually wasn't told how long I wouldn't get to see them…nor was Morven.

"No girls…you will see them on the holidays…don't you know how Boarding schools work?" Mrs Miller asked shaking her head in annoyance.

"Not quite miss, no. We've never been to Boarding school before and as you know, we are new to all of this…sorry for disturbing you, we will head to dinner," Morven said slowly because this wasn't good.

"You better be! Now, off you go girls!" She said walking away in her bright pink high heels. Meanwhile me and Morven hurried off to the other side of the wall. Morven took me by the shoulders and looked right, then left making sure that no one was there.

"One year! We won't see our parents for one year! This is outrageous! How can our dad's agree to this Lian?! How can they allow this?" Morven exclaimed so mad. She had a point, except that I didn't care less that my dad won't see me. I've been living on my own. I make myself food, dinner, breakfast...lunch! You name it. His job is to go out early in the morning for work and come back at 6pm and all he does is say 'hello' and ignore me, sometimes he even comes at 10pm when I am asleep, and on the weekend, I go to grandma Jenny's house. She's the one I told you about, the one who keeps saying that being a detective means sticking your nose 'in other people's business'. It's the best thing ever! She plays with me all day, teaches me and helps me..but of course, I never tell anyone about how my dad doesn't bother do what my grandma does. I tell them the dreams of my dad caring about me.

"I know, this will make my grandma worry so much! She loves having me around a lot, though she mentioned seeing them in the holidays though...which means Christman?" I asked in a very unjoyful tone.

"Either way, why does this have to happen!" She covered her face with her hands as if about to cry.

I put my hand on Morven's shoulder, reassuring her. "Lucky us, we've got something called a phone so, we don't have to worry, we can call them anytime when we are free."

"Yeah, you are right. I shouldn't be this upset. Thanks Lian. It's sad for the both of us…but as long as we are together we will be fine," she smiled sadly. I gently hugged her feeling the softness of her cardigan. Thank god we're not in the 19s. No phones would've meant the end of the world for Morven.

"Let's go and eat, come on," I said breaking the hug and running off.

When we got to the dinner line, there were so many people. Everyone was informally dressed because they just got here, well obviously not us, we had to come early because we are new students…I'm guessing Lilah might be too? I can't wait to meet her!

"Hey, after dinner maybe Lilah will be in the dorm and we will finally get to see her!" I said making us both jog on the spot of excitement!

"Ooooooooh! I can't wait!"

After we got our food we went to sit down. We had a nice Roast dinner, probably a good way to end a day like this. We also had a chocolate delicious looking ice cream cake.

"Hmm, chocolate!" We both said giggling. It was mine and Morven's favourite ice cream cake! Obviously because everything was chocolate, including the cream! And we both thought this is the best desert!

The tables looked fabulously nice too. They were big and had a very long bench for everybody to sit on. There were even sets of the same tables. Like the ones in Harry Potter, except…add one more of them.

There were cups of water there for everyone. The knives, forks and spoons were neatly laid out on the table with a folded napkin. Each table had a layer of red table cover making it look a lot more luxurious.

"Wow, these are better than the tables in our high school, where everyone was all…squished," Morven pointed out in disgust. We seriously HATED eating our snacks all squished up and the thought of that sent shivers which ran down my spine.

While we were eating, a girl and her black haired friend interrupted. "And who may YOU be?" A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes asked us in a sassy tone. I swear if she is another bully I will literally end the world. Well obviously not do that but…WHY DO BULLIES HAVE TO BE BLONDE AND HAVE BLACK HAIRED FRIENDS! I mean I totally know that's how she was born but the point is…Eleri was Blonde and had blue eyes too! In addition to the sassy voice and black haired friends! I feel so silly. Shut up Lian!

"Why do you ask?" Morven mocked her sassy voice making me snort and nearly spit my food out.

"Because this is our space you idiot!" She continued stubbornly making me stare at her. "Stop staring at me!" She shouted and I got up slamming my hands on the table as people started looking at me. Things were getting cheesy, and I had just had enough already.

"Hey listen duck face," I was saying trying not to raise my voice at her and giggle. This is yet to be the most hilarious insult I've said. "Don't talk to my friend like that, this is a public space and there is space right there for you," I said pointing at the bench that is in front of me with a space. "You and your friend can sit here if you want, but WE are NOT moving," I stubbornly answered back. I really hope we are not dealing with another dirty-mouthed bully. I've had enough of those, especially after what happened at Starbucks. We're not repeating that scenario again.

"Look who's talking, you better watch out because I can do what I want! So move yourself and your ugly slug-friend!" She continued like I didn't just say we weren't moving…she started shoving Morven and I got seriously irritated. This time I'm not going to act like a coward.

"Hey, Blondie…I said watch your quack mouth," I began walking slowly towards her, "you're clearly just a spoiled brat, but pushing my friend just goes a step too far," I kept saying taking my last step towards her. "You obviously don't listen to what people say." I said stepping back. The other girl with her went back to Morven and was going to shove her again. I quickly stopped her by holding her hand. "Let go." I said and she didn't budge. I took her hand by force and shoved it.

"What on earth are you girls doing?" Said a dinner lady. Me and The dark haired girl looked at her. "Sit down!" She shouted and me and the girl let go as we were exchanging death glares.

When the dinner lady went, duck face came. "My mum is the headmistress! I'll get her to deal with you, you will see!" She whispered making me more furious.

"Ok duck face," I replied back to her making some people laugh and she just stormed off. Everyone went back to eating and laughing. Has she been doing that to everyone? I can't say I'm surprised. What a first day's meal.

"Well, that was a show," Morven said picking up her fork again.

"You're welcome," I continued nudging her while smiling.

After we finished eating and went to find our dorm again. In the corridor, we saw the blonde girl from earlier and her dark haired friend being picked on.

"Going to mummy again huh Prissy wissy," said the boy to her because she honestly looked like she was going to her mum since the headmistresses door was right next to her. You can see the huge print saying 'HEAD TEACHER'. People started looking, no one was going to stand up for her. I can't tell whether she deserves it or not.

"What should we do?" I whispered.

"Nothing, apparently, her mum wants her to sort out her own 'problems' from what I just heard," Morven whispered back leaving me quite surprised.

"Wait, so, her mum knows that she is being picked on?" I asked curiously. He did look like he was bullying her. He kept on teasing her and it wasn't just him, there were 5 boys all together.

"I have no idea"

While the boy was teasing the girls, me and Morven overheard a group of 3 girls gossiping to each other.

"Isn't that The bad Boyz gang," said one of them making me turn my head at Morven.

"Yeah, they say we shouldn't go near them because they are 'dangerous'," another girl replied.

"They are. He's actually in my class this year. His name is Billy Andrews. He never stops picking on Prissy and Darcy," The 3rd girl remarked.

That was all me and Morven heard.

"What a lame group name," Morven said making a weird face "The bad Boyz gang? Shouldn't it be the spotty Boyz gang?" She continued disgusted. She was right…it didn't look like they took care of themselves…

"Prissy! What are you doing with those…disgusting boys!" The head mistress said coming out. "Everyone! Dorms! Now!" She said sharply.

We hid behind a wall to know what was happening. "Are you sure we won't get caught?" I asked Morven.

"I don't know, let's just pray we won't," she said not making me hopeful at all. I began to feel really rude.

"Prissy! I cannot believe this behaviour," Mrs Miller was saying talking privately to her. "You either behave like a lady and set an example or you are not my daughter…understand!" She said strictly.

"But Mum-" Prissy started to say.

"No Buts! If Darcy is a bad example, I will get rid of her too! Is this clear?" Mrs Miller sharpened her eyes.

"I didn't-" Prissy began to try explain it wasn't her fault but…

"Are we clear Prissy!" Mrs Miller half-shouted.

"I…but…yes mother," Prissy put her head down giving up.

"I kinda feel bad now," Morven said as we were walking back to our dorm room. "Couldn't Mrs Miller at least try talk to her instead of jumping to conclusions so fast," she wondered.

"Hmm, you're correct. She was going to tell on us though…so I think she deserves it," I put my head up.

"Well you're harsh aren't you," she mentioned.

"Mhm, like I totally was harsh enough standing up for you," I brought up the dinner situation.

"Yeah, thanks…" she opened the dorm door. "I wonder if we will get to see Lilah," she said changing the subject. When we walked in, there STILL wasn't anybody.

"Oh," I said upset. "She isn't here yet…perhaps she might not be coming."

"Cheer up, she will come soon. I know it."

I nodded my head. "I hope she does come soon though. I wanna get to know her," I said and Morven agreed. "Look, here is the list of people, and their pictures, they are in our class this year.." I showed Morven.

"Isn't that the boy who was teasing Prissy earlier…Billy Andrews?" She asked, "well he is an ugly old chap," she said making us Burst out of laughter. It's true.

"Woah, that is the girl who was with Prissy…Darcy Wayne..from what I see…" I pointed out on her image on the paper.

"Look at her creepy smile…this Darcy is seriously terrifying…" she shivered.

"I know right…weird of Prissy to want to be friends with her…" I wondered. "Anyway! Let's just hope everything will be fine this year…you never know, we might have a blast!" I reassured her and she jumped in excitement.

Just as we finished talking, someone came in. 2 people.

"Hello girls, sorry for not knocking," said a brown haired lady. From her lanyard on her neck, it seemed like she was either an assistant or a teacher. "This is Lilah Wong, she is South Korean, she can't speak English so she will probably be silent but other than that, here she is!" The teacher said walking Lilah forward.

"Annyeong!" Me and Morven started speaking in Korean. I speak Korean fluently but I don't want anyone except Morven to know that, for now. I taught Morven how to say hi. We were so excited she was here. Our faces lit up like some little kids getting ice cream.

"Annyeong," replied a shy-looking, black haired girl. She seemed to have a sketch book in her hand and a pencil. I'm guessing she likes to draw?

"Anyway girlies. As of tomorrow being your first day of Boarding school, you will be meeting me - your new teacher - in English room thirty as soon as the bell goes. I suggest you make your way there early," she kindly said smiling and turning towards the door.

"It's nice to meet you Lilah! Come on, let's go to English room thirty, we'll take you there," I offered to clueless looking Lilah. Me and Morven smiled at each other ready to go there.

"Hello boys and girls! I'm your new teacher, Mrs Honeywebb!" The lady said as we entered the classroom sitting down. Me and Morven snorted a silent laugh as well as everyone else because her name sounded funny. "We will play some games and I will get to know you, but, first off let me do the register." She walked back to her desk, opening her computer and reading out names. It seemed like someone was missing though…

"Billy Andrews?" She asked.

"Here," he said bored. It doesn't seem someone like him would like school or class. I'm just wondering why he is here.

"Jimmy?" She looked around.

"Here miss," a blonde spotty boy said. Isn't he one of the bad Boyz gang?

"Morven Armstrong?" She said and Billy started laughing.

"I bet SHE'S got strong arms yeah," He snickered. We all just rolled our eyes. The class didn't even think that's funny.

"Silence please!" Mrs Honeywebb said. "Right…Park Lian? Is it Park Lian or Lian Park?" She wondered curious.

"It's just Lian miss, Here!" I said.

"Backward nickname, what a weirdo," commented Billy but no one laughed. Instead everyone looked at him annoyed. He should go to comedy school, maybe he'll pick up some good jokes.

"What?!" He asked,

"Prissy Miller?" She looked up.

"Here!" She shouted in a sassy voice, I'm not surprised to be honest.

After a while of her calling names slowly and so boringly, we decided to take a nap on the table until we heard a name.

"Darcy Wayne?" she asked looking around. "Darcy? Anyone seen her?" She said because she wasn't here.

Ah! That was who was missing!…Darcy isn't here…and something smells fishy, I could tell Morven seemed like she felt it too.

"Oh she is ill miss," Prissy answered. It seemed like she was the only one who knew of her not being there. Of course they're like 'Best Friends' who tell each other everything.

Questions like 'was she lying?' Crept up to me…Darcy was in perfect shape? How is she suddenly ill? Did me standing up to her at dinner make her upset?

Billy was throwing paper at Prissy non-stop and she seemed furious. Me and Morven could tell because of the red face she had. I didn't know people went red when they were angry. Me and Morven giggled.

"Alright everyone! Quiet down please!" She said and everyone went back to normal. "So our game today is-" however just then, when she was about to start the game, suddenly,

The light's shut off.
