Chapter 40 - 39. Their relationship

Sophia naturally understood Rohan's train of thoughts. If it was Luna she probably wouldn't know what was happening as she had never seen a hickey before nor did she know about such matters. To her, there was only family and work to support the family.

There was no time to learn such things.

Hence, even if Luna saw those marks, besides being a little bit suspicious about their origin she wouldn't really care. After all, it looked like some kind of rash and bug bites. What more was there to it?

Even when Sophia was helping Rohan out of the barn, Luna had also seen the marks but she didn't show any reactions to it. If one didn't know what they were, how would they know what to feel about it?

Sophia on the other hand didn't need a second glance to know that those were some hickeys on his body.

Why?

She had them too. Though her memories were a bit vague on that aspect she knew that she had once had them too. Ones that wouldn't disappear for weeks on end.

There was a nagging feeling inside her that said she should get too close to anything related to that, but she felt nothing but disgust at the moment.

Was that how most people feel about these things after experiencing them?

Sophia didn't know and didn't are. All she knew was that she didn't like the feeling she gets when she is close to men? Or was that just an illusion? She was totally fine with touching Rohan.

Perhaps it was because they had those things with them? The last time when she was trying to save the girls she also saw some toys inside the small room and instantly felt disgusted towards those men and it was the same this time too.

Was it related to those toys then?

Sophia was currently sitting down on the chair and leaning back lazily as she thought about why she shouldn't be getting close to those things. Those toys...

It seemed as though they would be the fall of her but at the same time it made her feel... powerful?

Confusion marred her eyes and Sophia couldn't think properly. Luna's worried thoughts of Rohan overlapped with her doubts on her situation. With two different voices singing two different tunes inside her head, Sophia couldn't focus on anything.

The six men who were on the ground with blood covering them in a miserable state did their best to suppress their presence after sensing Sophia's irritation. However, soft whimpers and moans still resonated within the big and empty barn.

Staring into nowhere, Sophia tried to focus on something but she was only met with frustration. She just couldn't make sense of anything.

"Master..." Sachi's rather doubtful voice caught Sophia's attention. However, despite looking at Sachi, Sophia didn't respond to him. Something just felt wrong. She felt pained when she hard him call her 'master.'

It felt as though he was never with her. Like it was never him who shared those painful memories with her on the void. Was she mistaken? Perhaps she was overthinking things?

Her bloodshot blueish grey eyes stared deep into Sachi's greenish blue ones. Hidden deep inside those blueish grey eyes there was a tiny hint of hurt and disappointment.

Noticing something off about her, Sachi felt bad. He wanted to connect to Sophia and help her but he didn't know how.

He wasn't the same Sachi from the void. Currently he was but a mere hologram that could talk to Sophia and help her with small things like sending messages or checking some live footages for the desired information.

However, all of those required him to do it virtually while the Sachi from the void was an actual physical being. One that could cuddle up to Sophia whenever she needed comforting or give her a ride on his big back when she just felt like roaming around.

Inside that void, he wasn't able to talk but now he did.

Some might think that their relationship would've been deeper after this change in a way but it was actually the opposite. Despite being so close and with an easier method of communication, they were both lost.

Neither knew what to do with all the changes that has happened.

Although for a short while until the fist ten missions are completed, Sachi can no longer physically touch Sophia whenever he wanted and vice versa. Though they could talk to each other now, things were rather awakard.

Sophia was no longer Sophia. She was now Sophia inside the body of Luna. Both of their souls inhibited the small body of Luna Grey. Sachi couldn't address Sophia as Sophia since 'Sophia' was dead and Sophia's soul is meant to inhibit another body and live like it.

Currently, Sophia was neither Sophia nor Luna.

Coming out of the void, both Sophia and Sachi had ratrained a new relationship. A master-helper relationship. But was that all there is?

Was he only Sophia's helper? If so what was the countless days that they had spent together inside that white void? Was it nothing?

Sachi also didn't like calling Sophia 'master' but that was his job. What was their to help his distinguish when to call her master and when to call her Sophia?

Despite the closeness they felt when together, the were still lost.

However, at that moment Sachi really didn't want to call her 'master.' Calling her 'master' was giving him a helper status that would only go to show how not invested he was in her condition.

"Sophia..." His week voice followed by a rather sad meow softened Sophia's heart and she replied with a 'mn.' Sachi felt his eyes tear up as she forced himself to continue his words.

"Please stop doing this..." His voice was weak but his words hurt like sharp knives. He wanted her to stop?

A mocking sneer started forming at the corner of her lips but Sachi whose head was lowered didn't see it. Rather he mustered up some more courage to continue his words. Despite so his voice was very tiny and almost inaudible but Sophia managed to catch it.

'Stop hurting yourself..."

A peal of joyful laughter broke out and daughter everyone's attention. Sachi looked up and wondered why she was laughing so suddenly but the laugh was rather genuine so he didn't care. He was happy that she was happy and just smiled along with her.

The men on the ground who barely managed to stay conscious were in a sheer state of confusion. 'Why the f*ck was the maniac girl laughing?!'

Despite their confusion they didn't care as long as she was happy and could forget about torturing them. They could feel their hearts slowly stop beating...

Sophia stopped laughing gradually and reached her hand out to airpat Sachi. She said no words but after taking a final glance at the men on the floor, she stood up and grabbed her things.

Standing at the doorway where the the setting orange sunlight fell on her lonely and bloody silhouette, Sophia turned her head towards the side. "Go and tell you boss that Luna is coming back."

When her cold voice fell on their ears all of them started trembling and they all subconsciously started nodding their heads. F*ck. They didn't care what they had to do as long as she could let them off!

Sophia on the other hand just started walking towards her baby once her words left her mouth. She didn't wait for their confirmation because they had no choice but to agree. And even if they didn't relay her message, she was still coming for them so why did it matter?

This is the regular chapter of the day. There will be four special chapters uploading at the same time today in honor of the four birthdays that took place for my family.

P.S I'm currently traveling outside of the country so it's taking a while to edit due to the many circumstances. I'm sorry for the delay in this but I hope the five chapters that comes out today will be enough to make up the few hours delay!
