Chapter 12 - 12. 'It's time.'

When Sophia opened her eyes again it was almost 6 in the morning. She had slept for about 3 hours, making her eyes slightly red but she still slept more than she thought she could so it's fine.

Getting off the bed to wash up and seeing that Rohan was still asleep, she left the house for a morning run.

Luna's body was f*cking weak. In terms of strength and stamina for an average person, Luna was better than average, but that was nothing when Sophia compared it to her past self.

In less than 48 hours of arriving in this body, she had plans to stay. It would be a very troublesome process dying here, then waiting in the white void for another body then dying again.

She wanted to live life to the fullest, to see the world as more than a filthy place full of even more filthy people. She was given a second chance so she couldn't be a picky person even if it was tempting to just switch worlds and start over. There are a few reasons to stay, like it being faster but she didn't want to finalize her decisions too soon.

She had the patience and determination to endure the torture put on her by those people until they decided to killed her so she can live through a couple more years until her death. There was no need to change worlds and start something even more complicated.

Also, she wasn't really affected by the events that happened, just deeply disappointed on a numbing level. She still has time till the last mission so before then she would just... live.

She was Luna Grey right now so regardless of the final outcome, she would just live.

She was the best at it after all.

By the time Sophia finished running around the neighborhood 3 times, it was about 7 in the morning. She bought some food for Rohan and herself and headed back to the apartment.

After taking a quick shower, she readied the food for Rohan.

Opening the door, Luna was greeted with the pale face of Rohan. He was covered in sweat and his face as pale as a ghost.

'oh boi'

Luna exited the room and called an ambulance. Though Rohan was still fine at the moment, he had a high fever and with all those bruises covering his body, Luna didn't want to keep Rohan in the house.

The house was dirty and had more dust than normal. It was humid and not sterilized. She wouldn't be able to rest knowing that Rohan was in the house all alone.

She had to earn money for Lillian and even if Rohan didn't go to the hospital she had called in sick leave from all his part-time jobs on his behalf early in the morning.

He wouldn't be going to work; it was better for him to stay in the hospital near Lillian and the nurses that can care for him while she was away on the mission.

The ambulance arrived not long after and Rohan was taken away. His wounds were re-checked by the doctors and cared for. They said to keep him in the hospital on an IV drip for the next 48 hours which she gladly complied with.

Rohan wanted to protest but she just shut him up. When the doctors left the room, Luna spoke to Rohan about her plans.

"Brother, just stay in the hospital until the drip is over. Alright?"

"Stay with mommy, okay?"

"I got this elite delivering job that would pay to get me the money we needed without much danger or effort. So just stay here and take care of yourself brother!" Luna's voice was music to the ears, very comforting and full of worry. The way her eyes looked at him as though to say just-trust-me and let-me-take-care-of-you were enough to melt down Rohan's resolve of going out of the hospital.

Despite her tone and speech being filled with worry and reassurance, Rohan felt like trusting and depending on Luna because of the faint domineering aura she gave off.

The feeling wasn't blunt nor was it detectable but Rohan just felt like Luna was more independent now, independent in a way that he can just depend on her like he was agreeing to do now.

Besides, the way she spoke left him no choice but to accept her arrangements!

Seeing Rohan nod his head in acknowledgment, Luna gave a bright cheerful smile. "Okay brother. if you feel bored just go and talk to mommy, alright?"

She was pleased with herself until she gave off an expression of a kid forgetting to say something. "Don't visit her with the drip on brother. She'll be worried."

Rohan let out a hearty laugh when he heard her last words. Putting a hand on her head to ruffle her hair, Rohan eased her worries. "Alright. I'll make sure to be careful."

"Don't you have work? You should get going. I'll take care of mommy and me."

Hearing Rohan's words, she was dumbstruck before she seemed to have realized that she had to go to her job. Hurriedly looking at her phone she realized that it was already 11:30 in the morning!

Quickly getting off the side chair near Rohan's hospital bed, she looked up at Rohan apologetically. "I'm late for work brother!

"I'll get going now, take care of yourself!"

Without waiting for Rohan's reply, she waved at him in a hurried manner before rushing out the door. As she left, a burst of hearty laughter reverberated around the ward. Though she was in a much calmer state when she stepped out of the hospital.

She wasn't rushing to get to her job nor was she panicked about the fact that both her brother and mother were in the hospital.

"You should eat and head out for the delivery mission. Money is urgent right now." Sachi looked at Sophia who was walking down the streets without a care in the world. It pissed him off for some reason. Shouldn't she be panicked about the huge sum needed for the surgery?!

{A/N: "You think she doesn't know that?"

Sachi: "..." [Don't talk to me.]

A/N: *insert evil smirk + squinting eyes* "You sure?"

Sachi: "Mommy, I'm sorry. I was rude. Please forgive me." }

Not taking any offense from his annoyed expression or his blunt words, Sophia nodded her head calmly.

It was around a 30-minute walk from the hospital so running back home would be rather beneficial for her. Plus she would be all warmed up for the mission.

So she ran. She ran past the people walking on the streets, and the many stores that lined the streets.

It was a good 15 minute run from the hospital to the Asian restaurant that she got food from yesterday. She dropped in to have some lunch before walking towards the apartment.

When she got in the house it was already 12 so she quickly cleaned up the house a bit. Mainly her room, Rohan's room, and packing the laundry clothes.

There was a laundry service that came with the apartment but her family never really used it because it was pretty expensive but she didn't care right now.

She handed the laundry to the laundry service and left the rest since she needed to be on her way and since no one else would be home except her in the next couple of days, she had plenty of time to fully clean up.

Taking a quick shower to freshen up, she dressed herself up in a simple black t-shirt over black leggings and a pair of black worn-out sneakers. Grabbing her phone, money, and the house keys, she left the house once more.

While she was walking down the street towards the parking lot Sachi had chosen, a cunning smirk played on her lips.

'It's time.'

Her head was hung low as she was staring at the floor ahead of her and she had worn a black face mask, so no one really saw that smirk that was bound to give one the chills.
