Chapter 8 - Still thinking.

Kaylee had tried her best to warn Justus about what was about to happen but she knew he would not believe her. She watched him go back into the cafe to his friends as she walked away to follow up with Ricardo and Rhoda. As she walked on the grey pavement her mind was deep in thought. She wanted to help people with her abilities but how could even help someone who doesn't listen?

She reached school as she walked to her locker only to find Ricardo and Rhoda waiting for her eagerly while standing. "What did you tell him? Did you give him a beating? A psychological one of course. So did you?" Rhoda asked with quite an inquisitive tone.

"No, we just talked," Kaylee mumbled as she tried to avoid eye contact with her friends.

"Thank you for standing up for me guys, I really appreciate it," Ricardo lamented in a low tone with a huge smile on his face.

"Don't worry we got your back, and the next time anybody tries something, Kaylee and I are gonna ruin him," Rhoda said while hitting her left hand with her right hand in a fist as her pigtails moved back on forth.

All of them started smiling at the mere idea of being involved in kicking and hitting people or as they called them bullies. As they continued their conversation Rhoda's phone rang. Chirping sounds were heard which indicated that notifications were being sent. She ignored it at first, but the notifications continued which made Ricardo and Kaylee look at her in a very curious manner. She took her phone out of her pink glimmering bag and left her bag on the floor.

She looked at her phone for a few seconds before gasping and putting her hand on her mouth, " you guys! Oh my god! I can't believe it."

"What!" they both screamed.

"Justus..... He was in an accident...He is bleeding on his head.....Oh god! It happened just outside Cafe Mocha. Holy!..."

Ricardo and Kaylee just zoned out as they tried to bring themselves to grasp what had happened. Kaylee's heart shattered as she remembered the images she saw of Justus running over. She felt something stuck into her throat as she tried to swallow it but it was all futile since the lump of bitterness was because of Kaylee's guilt. She felt her head heavy as she heard a ringing sound suddenly. She felt like puking as she ran to the bathroom.

She swung the door open as she puked and felt her intestines rumbling and tumbling. She rested her head on the bathroom wall as she looked at the opposite side and gasped for air. She felt disgusted and confused as she remembered once more how Justus would have felt when he was thrown into the sky and back to the ground. His depressed emotions and the pain he felt Kaylee knew it all too well.

She spent the rest of the day hiding in the library and returned back home as soon as class ended. She quickly took her bicycle and cycled home as tears fell down her almond-shaped eyes. Her one-sided bag which was rested on her shoulder slid to her wrist. But she never stopped to return it back to her shoulder for her to be comfortable.

She reached home and threw her old grey bike on the curb as she ran to her front door. Anna who was just coming back from work was coming out of her taxi. She saw Kaylee crying in distress as she came out of her taxi in order to ask her what was troubling her. She leaned towards the driver of the taxi and tried to thank him as she turned towards her home. The taxi continued driving and Anna foot which was still on the road got run over.

"Ow! Oh my god. My foot! My foot!" Anna yelled as she fell down on the tarmac road and grabbed her right foot.

The driver stopped his car and hastily got out as he checked to see if Anna was okay and then offered to take her to the hospital. Amidst the pain and the yelling Anna agreed.

Kaylee reached home and closed the door as she ran to her room and cried profusely. She blamed herself again and again for everything that had happened. It might not be me the one who directly hit him with a car but I definitely have a part in all of it. She continued crying on her fluffy bed for hours before she slept.

When she woke up, it was dark outside. She wondered if her grandmother had already come back and went down the stairs to check up on her. "Grandma! Grandma! Are you back?" she yelled.

"Am in my room sweetie."

"Grandma, are you okay? Sorry I slept early. Am not feeling very well today," Kaylee said while trying to hold back her tears. She could feel her body was warm due to all of the crying but she shook it off and said to her grandmother," Do you want me to make dinner? I'll be quick"

"Sweetie, come here. Now, you know that I raised you for more than fifteen years, if anything is troubling you, you have to tell me. Don't let it sit on you forever. Am your family, Kay"

Kaylee looked at the carpet before she started wailing and moved closer to her grandmother who was on the bed and hugged her. She wanted to tell her but she did not want her to worry. Hence she cried for a few minutes before stopping and decide to tell her.

"Grandma,... I can see the future."

"What? You can see the future?"

"Yes, grandma. And I know it's really hard to believe it but I can. I... I... I have been having these episodes of the future.... and today I saw a guy die in an accident. He was someone I knew in school..... And I..... I warned him about it but he didn't believe me."

Her grandmother took some time to process what her granddaughter had just said as she then comforted by telling her that it was okay and that the guy who got into an accident was going to be fine. But deep in her heart, she knew that her granddaughter seeing the future would only hurt her. She would face oppression and seem like an outsider to most people. But most importantly as she progressed the episodes of the future would only hurt her emotions and feelings.

Kaylee cried herself to sleep once more as her grandmother covered her up with a blanket and lay beside her. She looked up at the ceiling as she remembered her mother words. Her grandmother's words were still stuck on her mind like an epitaph.

'Most people wish for such abilities but the abilities rob people of their happy lives. They rob you of the chance of being surprised. Whether good or bad the dreams come to you anywhere. And when witnesses someone getting hurt, it hurts you too. My grandmother even got a scar after seeing a dream of her husband getting killed by a sword. She then saw herself getting hanged which is exactly why she ran away. They are not a blessing, they never were and they will never be.'

Meanwhile, Justus's parents Samantha and Tyler are at the hospital in which Justus is in. He is laying subconsciously on a hospital bed with his mouth full of pipes. His body is surrounded by wires and life-supporting machines. The hospital bed is in the middle of the white room with a small table near it. It was a private room his parents got to avoid any inconveniences. There was a gold couch on the right side of the bed facing the huge 75 inches smart TV.

Samantha was seated on the couch looking at his son in his terrible state when suddenly Tyler entered the room. He walked to where his wife was seated and held her hand as he stared at the floor.

"He's gone Tyler, our small boy is gone," Samantha said whilst in tears.

"No, honey. He's not gone yet. We still have him, he's going to be fine. He's my son. I know it. And..."

"You really think that after this incident finishes and he wakes up, that's it. He's only in this state because of you. Because of what you do. And don't you dare tell me, you're trying to feed us, no! No kind of feeding goes to this extent. You know that it is one of your enemies who did this. To find him. Whoever did this to my son, find him and kill him. And if you don't it's over between us."

Tyler gazed at her wife who had removed his hand from her palm and stood up and looked at her husband while wiping her tears. He was confused and flabbergasted by her wife's reaction. His son was nearly dying and he was in agony, grief as he remembered the day before when he was holding his son by his shirt and breathing down on him. He regretted his actions. But he could never tell anyone how much he regretted it. Because he had an image to maintain as a hardcore boss.

The only thing he could do for his son was to find the person who tried to murder him and brutally break him. That would not help Tyler with anything but he would feel the guilt lessen in his heart. The guilt of not telling his son that he loved him and cared for him his whole life. The guilt of treating his son harshly in order to turn him into a guy who was the opposite of his father.
