"Just one phone call, Fausto", says John.
"John even if we call her, there's a 99% chance that she wouldn't even know where she was at. Anyways, why do you care so much about it? Can't we just leave it to the police. I mean they found Isaac, Im sure they'll find Katya by tomorrow", says Fausto trying to calm down John.
"And what if they don't?"
"Then they'll find her the day after."
"Ok fine, give me her phone number. I'll call her myself", says John defiantly and annoyed.
"What?", asks Fausto.
"Her phone number, I'll call her to see if she knows something."
Fausto doesn't know what to do, he didn't think that far. "Um, no... I don't think I can do that either", he says to John. There was a moment of clarity and right away, John goes back to asking about getting the phone number.
After some more convincing, or begging, Fausto gives in to John's pestering. "Can I call on your phone?", asks John but Fausto tells him, "No you can't call on my phone, She won't pick up if it's me calling!" Smiling, John says, "Never mind, I found it-"
"No! No! Put my phone down right now!"
John looks over to Fausto with his cell phone already next to his ear.
"Yes, hello is this Rachel?," says John as he stares at Fausto. With a quick swipe, Fausto grabs his phone from john and looks to see if he really called her or to see if John was joking with him. But before he can look at the phone he can hear a faint voice coming from the phone. "Faust, is that you?", the voice ringed out. He looked to see that John did call Rachel and Fausto without thinking, hangs up.
"Why would you do that?! You come into my home, scaring the hell out of me! Then come into my business and call my ex!", yells Fausto at John with frustration in his voice. Without taking a hint, John says, "Well at leasts she picked up, I thought she wouldn't."
"Get the hell, out of my house, Frank."
"Sorry", John says as he gets up and walks to the door but before he leaves he tells Fausto, "You know when she picked up... She sounded like she was excited to get a phone call from you..."
Fausto doesn't say anything about her , he just waves goodbye at John and says, "I'll see you at work on Monday." John says the same and leaves.
After the door closes, Fausto takes a second to process just what, frank did. It's been about 4 months since he last heard her voice, just hearing something so warm and familiar filled him with such terror. He feels his heart beat suddenly get faster and his chest tighten to the point of pain, another familiar feeling Fausto has forgotten about. He gets a cigarette, puts it to his mouth and comfortably lights it, filling his apartment with smoke.
