Chapter 6 - Training

Cain's POV

The smell of pancakes and bacon brought Cain out of a dead sleep. He opened his eyes and looked at the couch. Sabera was gone!

Cain jumped up, untangling himself from the blanket that had mysterious appeared on him. And he raced to the kitchen. The young girl was standing at the stove, flipping a pancake the size of Cain's head onto a plate. She then turned and placed the food on the table along with two glasses of orange juice.

"Good morning," she said with a smile, and sat down.

Cain took a seat across from her, "How did you get this food? I don't have anything in here."

She shrugged, "I took the car to the store. I had my own money so I bought breakfast."

"Don't ever go out without me," Cain snapped

Sabera looked at him and laughed, "Aye aye captain."

He felt himself laugh, too. This girl was going to be the death of him. He began eating. Everything was delicious. Cain didn't often eat home cooked meals. More time then none it was fast food. Well, fast as in running away from him. He was a demon after all.

Once they had finished eating, Cain picked up the dishes to the sink and washed them. It was as if they had lived together for all thier lives. After everything was put away they went back to the couch. An awkward silence filled the room.

Sabera spoke first, "So, what now?"

"Now we start your training." Cain replied.

She nodded, "And my fake parents?"

He shrugged, "That's up to you. Do you want to go back?"

Sabera shook her head, "No, I don't belong there anymore."

She seemed sad, but happy too. Girls were confusing.

Cain stood and held his hand out, "Well then let's get started on your training."

Sabera placed her hand in his, "Yeah, let's go." The smile on her face made Cain smile.

Sabera's POV

I didn't see any reason to go back to my "parents". Not when they didn't give a shit anyway. So here I am, in the middle of a corn field. Cain had given me books to study for the past month on defense spells. Well, I call them spells, he calls them exponentia. Which is spell in Latin. Demons are weird. Anyway my test today was camouflage. I have to successfully hide my self as a corn stalk. He gave me five minutes.

I ducked down in a row of stalks, thinking of the tall green plant. "Transformatio," I whispered to myself.

I felt myself becoming taller and leafy. Transformatio means transformation. Cain had been teaching me this trick for a week. But some how he always finds me. Once it was my feet,or roots. They weren't in the ground. Then it was the way I moved against the wind.

"You need to move like the object you are," he had said.

I kept my concentration the best I could, flowing with the wind. I spotted Cain not far from me. He was almost as tall as the stalks themselves. His gold and red eyes scanning every inch of the field. I almost laughed when he walked by me, but I stayed silent.

After ten minutes I heard him call out, "Good. Very good. You can come out now."

I stayed quiet.

He looked around, "Sabera? I said you can come out."

I didn't move

Panic flooded his face, "Sabera?!" He ran past me again.

"Sabera, where are you?!" he yelled

While his back was turned, I snuck up behind him and poked the back of his head. Within seconds I was on the ground, my spell broken.

Cain's eyes went blood red and his whole body was shaking.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" he shouted at me, pinning me to the ground.

I could tell I crossed a line. I placed my arms around his neck, "I'm sorry. I thought it was funny."

He shook his head, "Well it wasn't. You scared the hell out of me." Cain then pulled me into his lap and wrapped himself around me.

"I'm really sorry, Cain," I said burying my face in his chest.

In the past few weeks Cain and I have developed feelings for each other. Though he'd never admit it. For the first time in my life I feel something for someone. I cared about KC, but it was a lie. I don't much care for my old parents. Of course they didn't really love me anyway. With Cain it's different. He has not lied to me, or hurt me in anyway. Can someone say stalk home syndrome. Cain provided for me. No matter what I wanted he gave it to me. Last week, my monthly hit. And he went out and bought me the stuff I needed, including Midol and a huge tub of fudge ice cream. So yeah, he was great.

"You ok now?" I whispered.

He stiffened, as if he just realized what he'd been doing. He slowly released me.

"Yeah," he said and stood up.

Shit, I shouldn't have said anything.

Cain started back to the house, "Come on. It's dinner time and you still have studying to do."

"Ok," I said and followed him.

There isn't any reason to get him more upset.

But I hate studying.

Cain's POV

Cain watched Sabera go upstairs to bed. Her hips swayed with every step. What was he thinking holding onto her like he did? She wasn't his. Cain sat on the couch and started flipping through channels. After three minutes he just shut the dang thing off and went to his new room. He had figured Sabera didn't need to walk in on him in his boxers. He used to walk around the place like that all the time. But seance she'd been there he slept in shorts. Over all, his whole life changed. Every morning was spent with lessons and every night was them spending time alone. Cain tried to give her space, but everytime she was out of his sight, he almost had a heart attack. Just like earlier. She had disguised herself so well. He really thought something had happened to her. He was so pissed at her, until she apologized. Then his heart melted like butter. Man love sucked. Yeah he knew it now. He loved her, but he knew he had to hide it. Lucifer would kill him. Besides in October she'd be back with her father. They had to wait till then before the gates were open enough to get in. Cain looked at the kitty cat calendar Sabera had asked for last week. It was now the first of june. Which left....one....two...

four months that he had her to himself. After that the Scholars of Hell would pick up her training. And he'd never see her again.

Cain ran a hand through his hair, "Fuck, Sabera what have you done to me?"
