Maria could not control the shock that she was sure was plastered all over her face.

The King and Queen casually started eating the croissants and other pastries that were on the plates in front of them, as if they hadn't just started a huge conversation.

Thankfully for her, and much to her surprise, Julien was the first one to frantically respond. "So soon? We all just got back. Surely a wedding can wait."

For some reason, he looked desperate to delay this conversation, and Maria felt her brow furrow in confusion. Next to her, Arthur shook his head as if he knew exactly why Julien would have made that comment.

"When were you thinking we should be married, father? We would need time to ensure Maria's family could be here with sufficient notice," Arthur replied, ignoring Julien's slight outburst.

"December. That will give four months to prepare and it will be a great way to close out the year with one of our signature parties," the King answered.
