The carriage pulled up to the front gates of the castle and Maria felt her mouth drop in shock.
The gold gates were intricately fashioned to look like vines, and they stretched taller than twenty feet into the sky.
Once the gates opened and the carriage made it down the dirt path to the castle, she was shocked to see that the grounds in front of the doors were tiled.
"If the outside is this fancy, I can't wait to see the inside," she said with her eyes still glued to the carriage window.
Arthur placed a kiss on her temple and chuckled in amusement.
Based on all of the windows that lined the grand structure, Maria guessed that the castle, that stretched too far for her to see the end of, was either four or five stories high.
Suddenly the carriage stopped, and Maria's heart stopped with it. She turned back to Arthur, the fear in her eyes as clear as the beautiful Parisian day.
"Together," he reminded her.
