Chapter 1 - a new world

I was finally ready to go hiking, I thought, as I swung my leg over the bike seat. I had black hair with a red stripe going down the left side. The stripe is my birthmark for i've had it since i was born. My eyes were a dark, soft blue. I was 6ft 3in tall. I had a black tee shirt with a white arctic fox on the back of it and my pants were purplish black, and I had a trench coat on. Yes I was going hiking, but the trench coat is an accessory that is very useful in all kinds of conditions, for this trench coat actually helped with keeping my body temperature where it should be in any outside condition. I know it's confusing but it's hard to explain so  let's keep it at that. I loved to go hiking and exploring with it. When I was settled on my bike with my helmet on, I started pedaling down my driveway that connected my house to the road. My house was a 2-story with 5 bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and a garage. Yea, it might be a little too much space but it is all used thankfully. One room was where i slept, Another was a fully stocked game room for when i wasn't out and about. The next room was a well stocked fishing room and also contained all my first-aid equipment. The 4th was a well equipped hunting room and the last was my hiking and camping room. So yeah my house doesn't have much space left to occupy. As I was describing my house I had arrived at my destination. The trail wasn't very far from my house actually. Only about 1 point 6 miles. I took my helmet off and strapped it to my bike then locked my bike up with a chain and a padlock and started down the hiking trail. The trail had been worn down by so many people who have used it. I was halfway down the trail when I noticed it. It was like I blinked and everything around me changed. I was no longer on a worn down trail in the grand canyon but I was now standing in a forest of trees that don't even exist on earth. They looked like cherry blossoms except the leaves were a blueish color. The trunks of the trees where the same size as a cherry blossom. They where about three-fourths of a foot in diameter. I sat down where I was and took my backpack off. I pulled my phone out of the outermost pocket and checked the signal. Figures, i have no service. I brought the camera up though I took a picture of the trees. Then put it back in the pocket and zipped it, stood up, slinging my bag back on and continued walking forward. I might as well as explore. Besides im probably gonna need some shelter for when night comes. "why am i so calm." I thought to myself.  "honestly, I have no clue."

I was walking for a couple hours when I came across this huge basin-like formation. It was like a plateau except instead of rock coming up it was a huge hole in the ground. I walked around the edge looking down into the hole and on my way on the other side from where I started I saw a den-like hole in the wall. "hmm. Hope there's nothing in that." i thought l. "if not it could so work, but i'd have to dig it a bit deeper and bigger.  So i walked around till i was above the hole and took my bag off, got my 50 ft rope out and tide one end to a tree close by, tossed the other end over the edge with over 39 ft of rope left to spare after it hit the ground, then i grabbed my bag and started rappelling down the side. When I got to the bottom, I cut the rope on the ground so i could have 2 pieces that way I can make a rope ladder. The excess rope which was about 28 ft of rope left which I rolled up and put in my bag and sat it next to the den-like-cave entrance. Then I pulled out my folding shovel and unfolded it. I then went over to the den-cave to inspect it. It looked like an animal had dug this, of which the animal wasn't here anymore thankfully. So I started digging deeper, bigger, and wider. When that was done it was about 10 ft deep, 8ft wide, and 7ft tall. I then dug a little fire pit about 1 ft deep and wide. I put all the excess dirt in a big pile a little ways away from the deen force I planned on making into a 1-2 ft tall wall going in a horseshoe shape around the cave entrance. After that I went around collecting sticks. When i had a decent arm full i headed back and put the wood in the fire pit i had created. I still had a few hours till nightfall, so I collected 8 strong thick pieces of sticks for my rope ladder. After collecting them I started cutting them to the right size for the ladder. When I finished the ladder, which took less time than expected. I grabbed a pot out of my bag and my fire pit stove tray and went to the fire pit. When i got to the wall i thought "this is gonna get tiring stepping over this every time. So later I'm gonna make a little break in the middle of it. That I don't have to step over every time." so starting tomorrow i'll work on that. When I had a decent cooking fire burning in the pit, I sat the tray over it. I took the pot over to the pond and filled it with water, then carried it back and sat it on the tray over the fire to boil. It took awhile before it was boiling but when it started boiling it actually started smelling good. I've never thought water could ever smell good, well that is if it even smelled. Well hopefully it'll make the noodles taste even better. When I started pouring the noodles in the boiling water I heard something land softly behind me on the other side of the clearing. I swung around bringing my hunting knife out faster than lightning. I didn't see anything at first but when I started to turn back to my dinner, I saw something reddish. It was kinda dark now so I grabbed my flashlight and pointed at it, switching it on. The object was not an object at all but a red fox or at least that's what I thought it was for this particular one had 2 tails. It looked at me with pain in its eyes. So i walked over there to check it out. Turns out it had a sprained leg. So i gently picked it up, when i did, i was surprised for it didn't even try to resist. I brought it back to my makeshift shelter and sat it down on my pillow and went to my bag for my first aid kit. This kit just happens to be one for both human and animals. I walked back over to the little fox and sat in front of it. I sat the kit down and opened it. I grabbed the brush first to calm the fox down. After i was done with that i put the brush back up and grabbed some ointment and wrap. I let the fox sniff it first before I started rubbing its foreleg with it. Then I wrapped its leg. I put the excess wrap back in the box and got some water and a bowl, poured the water in it and sat it in front of the fox. Then I went out to check my noodles, or I guessed our noodles for I was gonna give it some. I don't know if it's a boy or girl so it's gonna be an "it" for now. Ok so i made 2 bowls one filled a quarter of the way up and went back into the little cave. I dropped both bowls on the ground stunned for what was once a red-2-tailed fox was now a white-9-tailed fox. "Are you ok?" it said or so i thought fore I had blacked out in surprise.

When i came to, i was slouched up against the wall, with the sun in my face. Crap i thought, it was day time already. I sat up noticing an unusual weight in my lap. I looked down to find the white nine tailed fox in my lap curled up. It was looking at me. "I'm sorry i scared you like that" it said or should i say she for it sounded like a girl. "I didn't know if i could trust u enough to show this form" was it actually speaking, no it was using telepathy. "eh" was all i could say. "thank you." the white fox said jumping off my lap. ``for?'' I asked, dimly aware of what I had done. "u wrapped my leg up instead of just killing me. Which im positive anyone else would have either killed or captured me for the money." she replied. "oh, well where i'm from i actually have a couple pet foxes." i said, sitting up. "by the way where am i?'' I asked. "Your in the deepest forest of the planet Avion. A good nineteen days from the nearest town." she answered. "shit that's far!'' I exclaimed standing up. What's this bag made of? The usual traveler or adventure bags are made of cheap materials. Yet this is material I've never seen." she said, sniffing the bag. "well where we come from we make our bags out of a special kinda woven cloth so that way it doesn't tear so easily.'' I answered, patting her head. She stiffened for a second then relaxed. She then turned to me with a weird look in her eyes. "was i supposed to ask?" she shakes her head and replies "no no i've just never been patted before."she sat there thinking for a bit then asked. "Will u form a partner pack with me?" i was taken by surprise at the sudden question "what's a partner pack?'' I asked, sitting down on my cot. She jumped up to sit next to me. "its a pack that a human forms with a creature that wants to become friends with that human." "i see. If that's the case then sure. But if i may ask. Why me?'' I asked curiously. "well first of all, you're caring. Second there's something you have that no one else has that I can name, but it's kinda like an aura that attracts and is strong. And u have a presence that says im strong stay away.`` I snickered. "what's funny?" she asked, ears twitching. "the way you said i'm strong stay away. I've never heard that one before." "oh, i see. Can you use magic?" "uh, i don't know. I've never done it before." getting interested in where this might be heading. "Are you saying I might be able to do magic?"she looked at me.  "with that aura yes,  you should be able to." I look outside the cave entrance thinking about this piece of info. "crap! It's already dark out. Guess it's bedtime. " I said getting up and heading to my bag for my blanket and pillow. "that bag can hold a lot!" she exclaimed. "yes it is very useful. Hey so how does this pack thing work?" let's get some sleep first." "yeah your right. I'm surprised I'm even tired. Can u hop up for a sec?" I asked her to move over to the cot. "sure." she replied hopping onto the ground. I put my pillow at the top of the cot, and spread my blanket out, folding up one corner so I could climb in. I unfolded the corner and patted next to my side.  "wanna sleep up here?" "yes please." she said hopping up and curling up against my side and surprisingly fast was already asleep. If only it was that easy for me i thought setting my hand on her head, petting her oh so soft fur. As I closed my eyes I felt her move even closer. I smiled as I fell asleep too.
