When I woke up it was still a little dark out. I looked down to see if 'she' (i say she for i still don't know her name) was still down there. She wasn't there. Maybe it was a dream, I thought. Dang that dream was actually pretty cool. I sat up swinging my legs over the side of the cot. I stood up and walked to the cave entrance to step outside. I noticed a pile of stuff on the ground right outside the entrance of the cave. "wonder what this stuff is for." i thought to myself. As i was bending down to pick up one of the weird colored rocks. I heard some rustling up above. I looked up to see the white fox poking her head over, smiling and saying "hey, you're awake." I jumped up excitedly. "thank you!" I said a little too loud. "Um, I thought I had dreamed you up. By the way what's your name?" she replied with "i don't have a name yet. But the adventurers call me the white fox." "I see, so on this partner pack I can give you a name then?" she walked up to the ledge near the rope ladder. "Yes, that is correct."she replied "um can i get some help getting down for the way i came up gave away." I stood up saying "sure." I walked over to my ladder and climbed up a few rungs to where my head was over the top of the crater ledge. She hopped on my head and climbed down to my shoulder. It's a good thing she was small. I climbed down and picked her up off of my shoulders and sat her down on the ground, asking. "So did u make that pile of stuff?" "yes. Thats some of the stuff for the pact." "oh i see." "i think i'm gonna give you your name now that way you can get used to it." she looks at me excitedly. "really?" "yes. Hmm. How about….. Refrig. Cause you don't know what you're hiding." I said, chuckling. Her eyes lit up. "it's perfect."
"i'm glad you think so." I replied. "oh and my name is Yentzi. I figured since I'm in a totally different world now I can have a different name." "true and i like the name you chose." i said "thanks." and let her sit in her cloud of happiness for a bit. I went over to the pile of stones to examine them. There were four rocks, all a different color. Blue, red, green, and brown. Wonder what they're made of. "So how are these rocks for the pact?" I asked, looking up at the newly named Refrig. "yeah about those, here's the last one." as she said that she dropped a white stone next to the other 4. I looked at her questioningly. "How did you…. Where were you holding that?" "wolves have their belly baskets, well i can do something like that too." she replied, "i see. So do these stones go in a star shape then, and what do they represent?" I asked , picking the white one up even after where I head it came from. This stone looked like a crystal but wasn't because of the texter. "good guess and yes they go in a star shape. The blue one represents water, the red is fire, the green is air, the brown is earth, and the white is spirit." she replied as she placed each stone in there spot in the shape of a star. Then she sat in the middle facing the white stone. "stand in front of the white stone." she " chant 'come forth water, come forth fire, come forth air, come forth earth, amd spirit i call the to thy circle to cast this partner pact on my greatest friend'. And that's it." and so i stood in front of the white stone and chanted the words that i was told to chant. When the word friend left my mouth, I along with the stones and Refrig started to glow purple. Then everything went back to the way it was. Except now Refrig had a circle with a dot in the middle and three dots on the outside of it in a triangle and I had that same mark on my right hand along with swirling lines that went up to my neck on both arms. "do they fade away?" I asked in awe at the designs. "no." she replied while jumping up and bounding over to me excitedly and jumping in my arms. "So what do the marks mean?" I asked curiously and caught her in my arms. "well it means you have an ability to control all the elements along with magic. Also there's one I haven't ever seen but have heard of. It should mean you can shapeshift, and one i've never heard of either." she replied looking up at me, smiling. "what!? Really?" I asked excitedly. She waited a few moments for me to calm down before she answered me with a "yes." i fist pumped the air while saying "yesssss!" she giggled at that. "So how does this shapeshifting work?" i asked sitting in front of her patting my lap for her to sit in. "Well it's actually kinda easy" she replied while jumping up in my lap and curled up. "I can do it by just imagining it." I thought about that for a while. While I was thinking about what she said, I laid down on the ground. "it might work for me the same way it works for you?" she crawled up on top of my stomach and looked at me. "maybe." I started rubbing her head and scratching behind the ears. We just sat there like that for who knows how long. We were just enjoying the moment. The wind started picking up then went back down. It was so quiet we could hear the crickets and birds up above, along with the chatter of some squirrels. I even heard a hog a little ways away. It was just a peaceful moment. Then the wind started picking up again, or was it my imagination, but i'm sure that what i hear is the sound of wing beats. And big ones at that. I looked down at Refrig. She was looking up to. So she could hear it too.
"what kind of creature is it Refrig?" I asked, wondering what it was. I mean I had a thought but i was just hoping i was wrong about it. "Well from the sound, I think it might be a dragon." crud, i guess i was right then. "what should we do?" I asked sitting up. "well i don't think we can do anything actually." she replied, "i bet you the dragon was drawn to the magic.....you're awfully calm about this, Yentzi." "Actually I'm kinda excited to see a dragon and if I panicked it would probably make this turn bad." so i stood up, while setting Refrig on my left shoulder and faced the direction that the dragon was coming from. It felt like 4 hours but it was only four minutes before we felt the ground shake, which told us the dragon had landed up above and was huge. Few seconds later a huge purple scaly head came over the edge and looked down at us curiously. "was it you who cast that grand magic human?" the dragon asked. The question actually caught me off guard. First off, the dragon's voice was female. Second, it was curious. Now granit i thought it was hungry for magic and that's why it came. So naturally I just nodded yes. "i see. Wait is that the white fox I see on your shoulder?" "I am now called Refrig, purple dragon of the land." "um are all of your legendary beings called by what your color is?" i asked, curious now. "You're not afraid of me? And I suppose you are right about our names being our color." "What's the point of being afraid, I mean are you here just to check out the magic source, out of curiosity or you gonna eat us?" "um just out of curiosity. I've never met someone who would actually talk with me. And with such…...wonder instead of fear. What is your name human?" I thought about what I heard before I gave my name. "my name in this world is Yentzi. And i've never met a dragon before and it's actually kind of cool to meet one now." she pondered that for a bit. "this world?" she asked curiously. "well i've only been in this one for 3 days. I was exploring in my old one when one second I blinked, the next when my eyes opened I was here. Wait, you said grand magic. What do you mean?'' I asked the dragon but looked at Refrig, who has been quiet this whole time. "yes grand magic. And with the markings that you have, I'd say you have more than just that. You can shapeshift, cast magic, use the elementals, while also being an archer, swordsman, and lancer?" i interrupted her saying "what!? but i've never done that in my life. None of that. All i've done was explore.'' I sat down heavily. "wait your saying your name is Refrig now. Did you tell him about his abilities or did you just experiment with him?'' I looked at her. "yes and no. The name was before the pact. The pact was just a test yes. I actually didn't expect a name though." she sighed and looked down feeling bad. "sorry Yentzi." "it's ok. Actually i'm kinda excited to have magic." they both looked at me thoughtfully. "what kinda pact did she have you do?" the dragon asked. "the partner pact i think. Um is that bad?'' I asked, looking up at the dragon. "no, the fact that you are still full of energy after that is kinda weird. You should be tired. How do you feel." "um i don't feel any different than before i cast the pact." she tilted her head a little, thinking about that. "interesting" i looked at her. "hey do you know what this mark means?'' I asked, showing her the silver half-moon. She eyed it for a bit before opening her mouth. It took me a moment before I realized she was shocked. "well, um yes i do know what it means but i never thought this world would ever see it. This mark means that you are an apostle of the goddess of night, Rory." and my mouth fell open showing I was shocked too. And so was Refrig. "so you're saying I was chosen by the goddess Rory to do what exactly?'' I asked , closing my mouth. "well your gonna have to have her tell you that. And to answer your next question. She'll show up when she is ready for you to start." she replied. "ah i see, so i have to wait then for my orders. I can do that. But that also means i can use this time to learn about her then." I sat down in deep thought. "smart thinking." Refrig said, while jumping in my lap. "But that means you're gonna have to start traveling tomorrow." i said, "fine with me." i looked up at the purple dragon, "would you like to do a partner pact to?" she looked at me with a bewildered look on her face. "M..m..m..me?" she stammered. "you want to do a partner pact with me?" she was about bursting with happiness. But she did a very good job at hiding it a couple of seconds later. "well, yeah i've always wanted to be friends with a dragon. It just wasn't possible in my old world for there was no such thing as a dragon in it." i said standing up and walking over to my cave entrance for the rocks that Refrig had found. "but are these big enough?" I looked at the purple dragon, then at Refrig. "Yes they are, but you're gonna need a few different colors for this one also because she is a different creature." Refrig answered me bounding over to the ladder. "come on let's go get them." I walked over to the ladder and picked Refrig up and sat her on my shoulders then climbed out of the whole. "So what do the other colors represent?" I asked as I sat Refrig down on the ground. "light and dark." was all she said. So we only need two more stones. I thought to myself. And they stand for light and dark, cool. I was finally able to get a good look at the purple dragon when I looked over at her. My mouth fell open yet again. Refrig giggle. "so huge, and so much awesomeness." was all i could muster. All four paws were bigger than your average one story house. Each claw was as long as a school bus. And her tail was longer than five school busses. And her wings when they opened out where probably as big as a football field or two. She was just huge. "do i have something stuck on one of my scales?" she asked, bringing her head down to where one of her huge eyes was looking at me. I shook my head amazed. "no. no i was just amazed at how huge you are." I looked her in the eye', which was as big as two of me stacked on top. She "hmph. You really aren't scared." "I'm serious, why would I be scared of you? I mean you're amazing, and well I've been through a bunch in just two days. Besides, I've always dreamed I might meet a dragon, and that was just a dream back then. For now here I stand in front of one.`` I patted her nose. "hmph, we'll see." she closed her eyes at the touch. I felt something on my left foot. I looked down to see Refrig with two rocks on her back. One looked as black as night, and the other as bright as lightning. And on that white one there was actually a lightning bolt on it, How ironic. "You just say the same thing as last time, just add come forth dark, come forth light before you say the friend part." she said leaning over to where the rocks fell off her back. I picked them up and put them with the other five rocks. "we're gonna need space for this one." i said looking around. The purple dragon hmphed and swept her tail around knocking down trees around her. I was impressed actually. Well, I didn't think of that. "great job, can't believe i didnt think of that." she actually looked pleased with herself. And so I gotta work setting the stones in their places around her. It took awhile because she was huge but then again she was worth having as a friend. Once they were in place I went to the spot in front of her. But before I started the chant I needed a name. "ok so i'm gonna give you a name first." she was taken aback at that. "r..re..really?" She was even happier than Refrig. So I made a little note in the back of my mind to ask them ages later. "well of course. Cant have a true friend without names. Hmm." and so i sat down in deep thought for a name. "ah ha." I jumped up saying. "how about Sungsam." she was thrilled at the name. "i love it." she pounded a paw on the ground making me lose my balance and falling on my butt laughing. "sorry." she said settling down "it's all good. Now i gotta check the rocks though." and so i checked all the rocks to see if they were still in place and they were thankfully. "ok there all good now let's finish this friendship.'' I said getting back in my spot and started to chant. "come forth water, come forth fire, come forth air, come forth earth, come forth light, come forth dark, and spirit i call the to thy circle to cast this partner pact on my greatest friend." and we started to glow green this time. When it faded, Sungsam had a forest green strip going down the length of her body on both sides. And my left hand had a green ¥ on it. "cool. What does this symbol mean?'' I asked Sungsam to show the ¥ symbol to her. "well it means friend of all dragons. And since i'm your friend now that means all dragons are your friend. Where all connected somehow. So you would've gotten that symbol even if you had become friends with a different dragon." she said while stretching her neck and head up into the sky. "even cooler than expected." i said sitting down. "now i feel a little tired. Guess that one was way stronger than Refrigs." Sungsam lowered her head to look at me curiously. "um actually Refrigs was stronger because she is one of a kind she is older than the newer gods." she looked at Refrig sadly. "oh i didn't know that. Well now I'm honored to have formed a pact with you. And I hope our pact never breaks no matter what. Wait you were saying the adventurers would have killed or captured you. Why?'' I asked thinking of our earlier conversation and picked her up. "well they've been spreading a rumor that if they could touch me they'd be able to live forever. But it would only work with the first person to touch me." she curled up in my lap. "really?'' I asked. "thing is it's true." she continued "and no one's ever touched me. Well except you which means you can live forever." she looked at me. "oh." i said surprised yet not really surprised. "i see. Thank you. For choosing me. Well i guess it was fated for me to come here.'' I patted her head. "yeah i guess so." she stretched out on my lap. "hey Sungsam.'' I looked up at her. "yes yentzi?" she asked looking down at me. I stood up asking. "would you be able to fly us to the nearest town?" and walked over to her. "sure, but i'd probably have to leave after dropping you off." she said sadly. "we'll see about that.'' I said while picking Refrig up because she had fallen asleep. I looked at Sungsam, thinking of a way up onto her back when she brought her tail around and picked us up and lifted us to the spot where her body and neck met. "thanks." i said while settling down. She hmphed and I chuckled. She then sprung into the sky snapping her wings out and giving three mighty flaps to lift her up above the forest. "wooooow, this is sooo cool.'' I said to myself in awe at the sheer strength of her muscles. I looked around, I could see forever. There were some mountains to the east. A huge vass of water to the south, maybe an ocean. And forest as far as the eye could see flowing from north to west. We were headed north. I wonder what this town is like. It's probably gonna be small being so close to the forest. Might as well as get some rest before we get to the town. "im gonna get some shut eye.'' I said while curling up with Refrig in my arms. "ok." Sungsam replied.
I woke to being poked in the nose by a small paw. "huh, wassup Refrig.'' I yawned sleepily. "well I'm glad you slept well, but you're gonna have to wake up. We got some company.'' I sat up realizing we had landed and I was on the ground. "What's wrong?'' I asked, looking around and noticing a group of people a ways away from us. I stood up. "i see and i'm also guessing they are afraid of her." i said looking up at Sungsam. "yup." Refrig answered jumping up on my shoulders in her nine tailed fox form. I stood up and walked a little closer to the group.
