Chapter 9 - B+ Blood Food

Zaiden felt a strange kind of hunger rsiisng within him, which had been becoming uncontrollable. The young boy turned his head with confusion towards Valos.

'Hungry!'

His mind spoke while darkness had engulfed his vision and Zaiden could only see a blue screen in front of his eyes.

Zaiden focused on the screen with the immense hunger rising within him. He felt famished and dehydrated all of a sudden, Zaiden spotted the written instructions over the screen.

[Drink B+ blood of a royal vampire in fifteen days.]

'What does it mean to drink blood?'

He thought for a moment and then realized his situation.

'Didn't I have the identity of a vampire, is it because of that? Or the serum I had injected in me?'

Among both the conclusions one was accurate but Zaiden did not know with which one he should proceed.

The certain blood group was not hard to search but the problem lied in the other condition. Zaiden had to drink the blood of a royal vampire, it was evident that the person should belong to the palace.

Whereas he had been occupied with the thoughts, Valos could only see Zaiden's reddened eyes, which scared him due to multiple reasons.

"This can't be. My potions and calculations had never been wrong."

The man assumed the worst deciphering that the smallest miscalculation could produce a greater damage.

"What did you do to him?"

Curtis confronted him in a worrisome yell, he wished to strangle the old man. But helplessness took over all his thoughts that he was not able to harm Valos.

Zaiden could sense a tremor running throughout his body, as soon as the blood scent of Valos hit his nostrils. He moved his body towards Valos and grabbed his robe by the collar.

"What are you doing, kid?"

Valos tried to negotiate in order to buy time so he could pull out another pill from his pocket. Zaiden growled as his canines grew into fangs, Curtis shouted to bring him back to senses.

"Master? Master, don't do this."

The boy leaned towards him and sniffed Valos' neck but didn't bite him in the veins. Zaiden somehow recognised that his blood group was different.

In every type of hunger Zaiden could sense that specific type of blood group, which had been highlighted by the system. He tossed Valos away due to Zaiden's newly found strength the old banged into the wall.

Curtis realized the emergence of the situation and floated closer to Zaiden. He could clearly spot that he seemed hypnotized by some inner rush of power.

"Master! Wake up, master."

Feeling helpless Curtis could only speak and yell at him, Zaiden shifted his focus from Valos towards Curtis and snarled.

"He can't hear you, there is no use of yelling."

Valos somehow managed to get up from the ground, even after the blow he didn't have any scratch on him.

"What do you mean? Why is he behaving like this?"

During their brief conversation they failed to see that Zaiden had summoned dark energy. Black smoke began to curl around his feet and like a hissing snake it moved towards his neck.

"It is a part of his awakening. The boy is going through the session of embracing his vampiric powers."

Valos narrated the theory to him while Curtis had no clue about any of the stuff he said.

'What vampiric powers is he talking about? Master Zaiden is not a vampire. Is...is this because of the serum? That's the only possible theory.'

Curtis knew that Zaiden was definitely a human and the premise Valos calculated was plausible.

"He needs blood to satiate his hunger. Maybe it's my healing serum which triggered his awakening."

As soon as Valos completed his words the door of his chamber slammed open.

A few soldiers clad in iron armour intruded but the one in the front knelt immediately with his weak limbs. The rest of the guards halted seeing his coming which was caused by Zaiden's powers.

"No! We have to feed him before he goes rogue."

Valos dashed towards his blood bank and fetched different blood groups obtained from humans. He waved the blood bags and opened the seals, expecting that Zaiden would stop after smelling the desired food.

But to his surprise the boy lifted his hand up and the guard floated in the air, Zaiden clenched his fist and the royal guard's head burst like a balloon.

His flesh spread across the room and the remaining intact abdomen slumped on the floor. The guards imminently retreated since none of such incident had occurred in years.

Zaiden lunged towards him and lifted the dead body, the boy stuck his tongue out and licked the steam of blood. Valos became satisfied with the outcome even if cost one life, whereas Curtis felt the urge to puke.
