Chapter 6 - Mysterious Enemy

"Master, we need to run immediately."

Curtis stated as they both knew that they had been exposed.

"Yes, leave this body here."

Zaiden had been sitting on the muddy ground when the young boy instructed.

"No, kill this man and leave the body here. He has seen us and the situation might get troublesome if he stays alive."

Zaiden had no weapon on him now but the boy pulled out a thin sharp branch, since pulling out the arrow was not a chance.

'I have to hurry and the arrow could have been the easiest way.'

He shook his head and held the branch while the boy positioned himself to stab. Killing someone was not a big deal for him anymore now.

"Leave this body immediately when you feel the stab, we have to remain careful since no one of us is allowed to die."

Zaiden inhaled and felt a sudden wave of energy within himself and charged at the man's chest.

Curtis left the body from the man's head when the royal informant came back to his senses and groaned in pain. Zaiden felt a sudden pressure within himself, the thirst to suck the blood from the royal informant's chest.

"Run, master!"

Curtis yelled at him and they both ran in the opposite direction from the king's procession, when Zaiden spotted a blue bar at the corner of his eye.

[Drink B+ blood group of a royal vampire within ten days.]

'What is this system implying now by stating this?'

Zaiden saw the notification popped up stating that he had to drink a royal vampire's blood. Due to their running he completely failed to focus on the certain blood group.

Back there on the spot, a different moment had been taking place.

The vines of the trees that the soldiers were grabbing at, taking shelter under them seemed to be moving unnaturally. The vines and the branches of trees suddenly coiled around the limbs and necks of the soldiers, strangling them to death.

Some of the vines started growing thorns and instantly caused death to two of the soldiers as the thorns Pierced their neck slowly and painfully. Perhaps mocking to them the pains they have given to others,  since the vampires had been oppressing their own kind.

"Your Majesty! We should help our soldiers. I will stick close to you and will protect you." Theodore chipped and strode towards the soldiers.

Suddenly a hand pulled him by grabbing the arm of Theodore. "Theodore are you dumb? Protect me. You should not leave your king in solitary."

Lyre Theon yelled while his eyes showed scared expressions with brows in fraction.

"My lord! Do not get out of the carriage. I will be right back!" Theodore stormed off to the soldiers and started cutting the vines in a hope to save a few.

The vines however were so sturdy and hard to slash as if they were controlled by powerful dark magic, even with a strike from an experienced soldier.

On the other hand, some vines had approached the carriage of Theon and started encircling it, crushing the walls.

Meanwhile a man had been hiding in the highest branch on some tree, he could see the whole scenario with his purple eyes.

"The coast is getting clear, hehe!"

His hysterical chuckle indicated that the mysterious man was responsible for the chaos.

Theon got off the carriage out of fear and ran towards Theodore, who got himself stuck in a group of vines. Theodore's mouth got stuffed with thorn growing vines as the blood dripped off.  He was not able to move his body but his arms were reaching out to his king's, he was sure he would be saved in some way by his almighty king.

Theon glanced at the two soldiers Theodore tried to protect, they were almost saved with most of the vines slashed. Theon grasping the situation takes the sword from the hands of Theodore. A hint of happiness could be seen on the face of Theodore that his king was going to protect him.

But Theon moved to the two soldiers who were fighting against a lesser number of vines and set them free. Theodore was left dumbstruck that his long old friend whom he taught sword skills, just went back to the middle of the muddy road with the two young soldiers he saved from the vines.

Theon traded the life of his so-called friend who was old and strength-less with the lives of two young and full of vigour soldiers.

The vines split the neck of Theodore into two with the rest of all six soldiers and then loosened their lifeless bodies on the ground.

"You both better protect me with your lives, or I will torment your families at home."

Theon ordered the last two soldiers who were beside him on their guards with swords out.

Lyre Theon and the two soldiers were puzzled because of no normal vines like those had existed, they vanished from their sights in the thin air.

Suddenly a strike of lightning hit the carriage behind them setting it on fire. The heart of Theon almost stopped with the loud sound behind him, the soldiers were also taken by surprise.

The abnormalities of nature did not stop here, the very land that the three were standing on suddenly split in two. The last of two soldiers completely fell into the endless pit below.

Theon however was holding the edge of the earth and tried to climb up, his feet could not find any support to push his body up, the mud seemed to come into play while dragging Theon slowly into the pits.

"N- no save me! Somebody save the king, I can not die this way." Theon yelled on the top of his lungs as his hand got slippery making his vision blurred.

"Are you okay? Can you hear me?"

Theon who thought he fell into the endless pit of hell was saved by a mysterious man holding his arm. He pulled Theon up with ease, his clothes did not distinguish whether he belonged to royalties or was an assassin.

Though he had been wearing dark black clothes with the same shaded cheap fur robe on his shoulders.
