Curtis' attempt was all in vain because apparently no one could see him except Zaiden himself. The vendor immediately grabbed the cart and went away without glancing back.
"Tsk, out of the frying pan into the fire. Great!"
Zaiden mumbled to himself and stood up while dusting his clothes.
"Are you alright master? I'm really apologetic that I can't protect you like this."
Curtis popped besides him like a blob of smoke while talking.
"I'm aware of our situation, Curtis. This is not the time for this kind of sorry and thank you chat."
The young boy rebuked him and looked around him, while Curtis' guilt had been increasing.
A marketplace was in front of him with various shops and people selling stuff on foot too. Zaiden sighed and analyzed his surroundings which seemed normal like his own world.
'We have to find a shelter first before proceeding with anything.'
The young boy who had been handling everything on his own after his father became ill and mother disappeared. Zaiden had been aware of his current situation and the fact that he had to support himself all alone now.
It wasn't difficult or unusual for him to think of basic things he had required at that moment. Moreover he had acknowledged the list the young boy had to follow in order to live decent in that realm.
'I need a quiet place to do some inquiry and search about how we teleported here?'
"Keep an eye on people's activities Curtis and see what is in demand to sell and what is the currency."
Zaiden whispered to himself acknowledging that Curtis could hear him.
'We have to buy a place to stay.'
His running brain had been continuously murmuring to him.
They both set off to roam around the marketplace where people had numerous items to sell.
'It seems there's a barter system or perhaps only this market is supporting it.'
The condition of commoners was bad and since they were poorly dressed it aroused curiosity within him.
"Master, what should we do now because we don't have anything on us to exchange?"
"Didn't the system say that you can possess a human being?"
Zaiden halted at one shop to look at the meat hanging from hooks then moved on.
"Why don't we test your abilities?"
A smirk appeared in his lips while Curtis gulped. He had known that look since Zaiden's childhood and it was definitely alarming.
'I don't want to know how it feels like wearing someone's stinking shoes.'
The butler muddled to himself waiting for his master's command to select the target.
"How about that middle aged man?"
Zaiden halted again in front of a shop when Curtis approached the man wearing a decent attire. He touched the soldier on his shoulder, who seemed a royal guard with all that fancy dressing and slipped inside his body.
The young boy became satisfied with the results when he saw Curtis wink at him soon after he possessed the body. Although only Curtis knew how giddy he felt during the process when a strange force tried to pull him inside the body.
'So, he is a royal guard or someone related to the king.'
Zaiden knew what he had to do now and abusing Curtis's ability was not written in the rules. Apparently no warning was present in the system's guidelines.
And one wouldn't have thought that Zaiden could figure out the loopholes that soon!
The vendor handed over the money to Curtis (in the possessed body of the royal guard) and he hopped over the horse. Zaiden walked towards him and after exiting the marketplace, they both rode towards a certain direction.
"This feels great, feels 'human' to have a body. Finally I can do things physically now."
Curtis mumbled to himself when Zaiden stopped him in the mid way of their ride.
"Does this man have some identity or not? We have to be sure about the people and their backgrounds here before possessing their bodies."
Zaiden's concern was valid that Curtis bothered to peek inside the bag hanging around the neck of the horse.
"I believe we are playing safe, master. He is a royal servant from King Lyre who collects tax and other amounts."
Curtis read his information from the golden seal which he found in the bag.
"Perfect, now we found a shelter. All you have to do is to brew an excuse to take me inside the palace."
Zaiden Rivers thoughtfully narrated the whole plan to him leaving Curtis speechless.
"Oh, I think I have found a way to let you in, master."
Curtis smiled evil as he took out a scroll reading that the king was supposed to come back today.
"We have to ride towards the south. Are you able to use the serum powers, just like you did back there in the restaurant?"
The butler had to made sure that Zaiden would be able to help himself, if they fell a prey to some peril.
Zaiden paused for a moment before replying and nodded assuring himself that it would be a great experiment to test the results of the serum.
"Perfect!"
They both rode towards the desired destination and waited for the king's carriage to appear. They hid a few miles away from the road, in the middle of the forest.
'Let's see how can you stop me from achieving my goal!'
A lopsided grin reeked evil from Zaiden's face, he planned to 'hijack' the whole procession.
