Chapter 32 - Chapter 30: Suspicious

Elizabeth wasn't sure if she did say the proper name of the person Diana introduced her to, hence she asked looking straight at Marcus.

"It's Marcus isn't it?"

"Yes ma'am, it's Marcus"

"I couldn't really tell if it was Marcus or Martin..."

"Martin is my bodyguard"

"Bodyguard? Mmh-hmm interesting. I'm Elizabeth" Diana's mother stretched her hand and she shook Marcus's hands.

"Marcus Orlando"

"From Orlando Inc?"

"I'm the Chief Executive Officer and founder of the company"

"So you rich?" asked Elizabeth and the way she asked, it made Marcus nervous he remained silent not knowing what to say, however Diana joined them and he was safe from Elizabeth's questions.

"It's time" said Diana.

Elizabeth was the first one to leave the cemetery in Martin's car, followed by another car which carried Marcus and Diana. The funeral wasn't that much hectic and neither crowded, just four people including Marcus, Diana, Elizabeth and Martin. After all there was no body and they were burying the remains of Linda which were only bones.

"I told my mother that you were my boyfriend" Diana started a conversation inside the car as a way to get Marcus to talk.

"You did?"

"Yeah"

"Well, that's a huge step for you Diana. I'm proud of you"

Diana chuckled softly "Stop with the jokes"

"What next, you gonna buy me a ring?" asked Marcus, then he busted out laughing. Marcus stopped laughing when he saw Diana wasn't chuckling like before, he remained silent and reached out for Diana's hand.

"What is it?"

"She didn't like it though, the idea of me dating after a month since the demise of Jacob. She said people will think I dated you even when Jacob was still alive"

"Who are these people Diana? Since when do you get affected by people's words? I mean you are a goddamn lawyer, you must be blamed by people on daily basis"

"You are right... I shouldn't be worried about that, I am a grown up woman"

Marcus smiled on the inside even though he remained calm on the outside, he didn't want to show Diana how happy he was that she was actually choosing him over her mother's opinions.

Later on Marcus and Diana reached the airport where Marcus's private jet was waiting for them. They boarded the jet alongside Martin and flew away from Boston - it was just three of them and they talked about life, luxuries, beautiful cities and even Diana hinted out that her best friend was in Africa. The part where Diana experienced multiple occasions which left her without a husband and a sibling was neglected, she enjoyed the whole trip but everything crashed down as soon as they reached the airport at midnight.

Diana wanted to go home but Marcus wanted her to stay, he suggested she even moved in at his house.

"Move in? With you? I just knew you for five minutes Marcus" said Diana.

Marcus erupted "Five minutes? You knew me for way more time than five minutes Diana"

"Calm down, it's a figure of speech"

"You said I'm your boyfriend, don't I get a say on what I want from you without having to be constantly interrupted"

"You are my boyfriend yes, but not my controller. This is absurd Marcus I am not moving in with you"

Diana took her bags and she walked away, Marcus went after her and only this time he didn't beg anymore. He swept her off of her feet and had Martin take the luggage. Diana fought back, she hit Marcus with her fists but it didn't work.

"Let me go... I said fucking let me go!" she cried out trying to kick him.

"I can't let you out of my side Diana, I just can't..."

"Have you lost your mind? I am not your puppet Marcus, let me go..." She kept kicking but it was all too late when Marcus tossed her to the back seat of the car and stayed there with her, as Martin switched on the car and off they went away.

The scenario was new to Diana, but also she remained silent when she knew there was no way for her to get out of the car, Marcus intended on keeping her and he meant it.

"Is this a kidnap situation? Are you kidnapping me?" she asked.

"No, no, I would never do that Diana"

"Then why are you taking me against my will? Why are you doing this to me Marcus?"

"Diana, can't you see... the apartment where you want to go to, gives you nothing but sad memories and I don't want that for you"

"That is my choice to make. I have every right to grief over my late husband, you can't take that away from me"

"Actually I can Diana, and that is what I'll do. He didn't deserve you, he was a piece of shit and you are..." Marcus paused, but he didn't finish it.

Diana didn't even tell Marcus to finish what he wanted to say, all she knew was that he was crazy and manipulative and controlling. They fought inside the car as Martin was driving, it was all hectic to the point Marcus wanted Diana to leave and Martin turned over the car and took Diana to her apartment, then they left without saying anything.

Something about Marcus's mother which Diana mentioned earlier had a strange impact on Marcus. Not only was he sad and panicking about the whole situation, but also he experienced an episode as soon as Martin started the car.

Marcus vomited inside the car and he couldn't stop saying that he felt nausea and he couldn't breath. Martin made sure to get him home first and then he took Marcus out of the car and injected him with a heroine syringe immediately before he lost himself, then he carried Marcus inside the house and called the other bodyguards to take care of him while he went back outside and cleaned the car. Five minutes later Marcus was knocked out and it was a relief to Martin.

It may have been a relief to Martin, but a wake up call for Diana. She had never seen Marcus like that before, and if she hadn't said anything about Marcus's mother then it was possible she wouldn't have been let go. Her heart was racing and she felt as if she was kidnapped, or almost kidnapped by someone she thought she was safe with. The night was long for Diana and it's because she couldn't stop thinking about the situation early on.

There was a time she wanted to tell Jared, but she knew the first thing Jared would say was "I told you so" because ever since the first day Jared wasn't team Marcus and he thought he was a bad person who kidnaps women and kills them. Diana was confused if all that Jared said once was true, perhaps. Then she remembered Linda and the fact that she was found buried in the forest near Marcus's house.

"Could it be? Is it possible that Marcus killed Linda?" she asked herself lots of questions but then none of them made sense, but then exhaustion took over and she fell asleep right there and everything was blur and felt a bit distanced.

Early in the morning Diana went to Glory Johnson's house to prepare her for court, but honestly she wasn't there for that.

"The widowed lawyer..." Glory said with excitement upon seeing Diana, she was wearing white pyjamas and had a mug of coffee on her hand. "It's seven thirty in the morning, what woke you up so early. Am I going to jail?"

"Good morning senator"

"Good morning lawyer... sit" ordered Glory and Diana took a sit on the couch, they were sitting in one of the living rooms.

"Do you want coffee?"

"No, I'm good"

"You look anxious, and worried. Honey, that is so bad for your skin"

"My skin is the last thing I'm worried about now"

"Oops!" Glory took a sip of the coffee and then she placed the mug on the table. "What's the first?" she asked.

"You and Marcus, how do you two know each other"

Glory had a moment of silence, and then she started laughing, it seemed funny how Diana asked that like she was jealous of the friendship she had with Marcus.

"Darling, he is a billionaire and I am a member of the congress. All rich people know each other in some sort of way. It's like the dollar connects us all"

"Or it could be murder" said Diana and she wasn't shaking, her eyes were fixed at Glory.

"Careful little girl... are you telling me your boyfriend is a murderer?"

"You are a murderer, you killed that boy in cold blood"

"Oh for fuck sake Diana! I told you the reason why I had to do that"

"He just told you the truth about your vagina, and somehow he had to die?"

"Some of us take sexual offense very serious lawyer. It may look like nothing to you but it's everything to us, if you gonna sit there and blame me for killing that boy, then wait until you are sixty and alone. Then perhaps you'll understand" said Glory and at this time she wasn't having that smile she had early on, she stood up and walked outside.
