Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

"How have you people survived this long?" Terra asked us as he picked out some of the berries from the pile that we picked.

"Honestly? No idea" I replied. The pile of bad berries was growing bigger than the good berries.

We decided that in order to conserve our food supplies, we should gather food in the wild as well. Unfortunately, Terra had no idea how useless we were in the wildernesses.

"I'm surprised you guys are still alive at this point" he said as he threw the bad berries out. Which was most of the pile.

"Well…" Luna said

I gave her a threatening look for her not to say anything.

"Well what?" Cielo asked "None of us got sick"

Luna gave me her puppy dog eyes. I sighed and said "Actually, I did get sick. But I'm not sure if it was from the berries"

"What?! Are you okay? Why didn't you tell me earlier?!" Cielo asked

"I didn't want you to worry" I said

"You're gonna die? Of course you're gonna die! Don't leave me behind!" He yelled

"Too late" Luna muttered

I grabbed Cielo by the shoulders "I'm not dying!"

"I can't have your room then?" He sniffles

I smacked his across the back of his head.

"You should have told Galet. He would have checked if it were serious" Terra said as he started a fire.

"I didn't want to distract him from the boy's fever. I was also feeling much better" I replied

"Hmm. Just don't die on us in the middle of the trip" Terra replied

"She's going to die and leave everything to me?!"

Luna yanked on Cielo's hair this time.

"We should hurry and cook the rabbit before we get rid of the fire" Terra said

It turns out that Terra has lots of experience of surviving in the woods. He even caught a rabbit with the bow and arrows we got from the town of Sud.

We cooked our own pieces, ate and eventually went to sleep.

This was our third night since we left the town. We weren't even halfway there yet.

Looking up at the sky, I realize just how big our world really is. Back at home, I'd never notice these things. I realize just how small I am. I am just a small speck in this entire world and that scares me. Yet, it's comforting to know that not everything revolves around me. The fact that so much is happening right now and I don't even realize it. It changes my perspective on so many things. Yeah...being out here this long has made me crazy.

I stare up into the sky decorated with stars which comfort the lonely moon in this vast sky.

"I'd been meaning to ask you guys this. How are your names so similar to each other even though you're from different places?" Terra asked

I looked over at him "What do you mean?"

"Your name means Star, Cielo's name means Sky, and Luna's means Moon." He explained

I looked back at the sky. "There is a story behind it actually. Mom named me Estrella or Star because I was born under the night sky."

Luna continued the story, "I was born a few months after Estrella was born. Needless to say, my father didn't like that so instead he wanted my name to be something bigger than her's so he named me after the moon."

"I was born exactly one year after Estrella so mom named me after the sky which tied the moon and stars together" Terra finished

"That's actually amazing" Terra said

"Nah" I said "Just a string of coincidences"

"Either way, it's nice to be so close with someone even just in name" he said

"Don't you have anyone you're close with? The twins?" Luna asked

"I've known them a few years back but I was never really close with them until just recently" he said

"How come?" Cielo asked

"I'd rather not say" he said with a dark tone

"Got it" I said "By the way, how did you know what our names meant?"

"I...don't know. I just do" he said "What language are they? I might have known unconsciously"

"They're from a language that's been long gone since the shut down" I said

"The shut down?" He asked

"That's what I call the day technology went out" I explained

"Technology?" He asked

I spent the next hour trying to explain it to him but in the end went went to sleep with even more questions than we actually answered.
