Polemos woke up with a slight headache as he read way more books than he anticipated. He went through at least 33 books of various information and knowledge, but the ones he paid attention to the most were the ones that talked about the world he was currently on, the basic power structure, and the one that gave a basic understanding and ranking of the monsters, beasts, and everything that inhabited the planet.
"Whoever decided to name this world 'The Banished' had to have been drunk off his mind or was great at naming things because some of the stuff in those books definitely fit the bill. Gods I'm in for some hell of a journey, why couldn't I have been reincarnated to my favorite anime world. Oh I know why because that would make things tens of times easier wouldn't it!!" Polemos was a little angry near the end as he gave whatever Gods were watching the bird as he proceeded to make his breakfast.
"Yay, more fish. I'm still quite surprised that I really like the fish here, as I absolutely didn't like fish in my previous world. That book about the power structure for 'humans' only went up to the end of the Acolyte stage, but was very descriptive on the advancing levels. Still it's good to know that this type of information is normal at the basic level or lower stage of Mana. The next stage will be hard especially if I really follow through with what it says." Polemos was a little scared to go through strengthening his bones and muscles for the next part of the Acolyte stage, but was determined to go through with it as it would be the best route for him.
"So glad that Carl gave me five common ranked spells to train, plus a common ranked axe and dagger technique, and it looks like all I need to do is meditate to increase my Mana stages, and the one I was given says it the best one to use to build a very firm foundation for the first mana stage. Well I really need to bring Carl some business or in other words I need to start fishing as well as killing monsters or beasts for their materials." Polemos said aloud as he was finishing his breakfast then went on his run.
'Can't slack off or I won't be able to accomplish what needs to be done. I just hope it doesn't become too hard, oh well I will see where everything takes me.' Polemos thought as he looked at the sun that was just starting to hover in the distance and proceeded to train til, it was time to go fishing.
When Polemos was finally done with his run he had his shirt tucked into his pants while he was covered in sweat, heavily panting as he headed back to his tent with a light jog.
"I really hope this helps, I mean I know it will just, still I'm not a fan of running it looks like. Oh well no pain no gain, right. All right, let's grab my spear and bag so that we'll definitely make transporting everything easier."
Polemos went to grab his spear and bag then proceeded to head to the water source to fish and increase his spearing technique.
"I won't lie, fishing this way is very relaxing and is a lot more helpful than just getting some food and money. I should see how far I can take this, that'll be fun." Polemos grinned while humming one of his favorite songs from his previous world.
'I wonder what music sounds like here, that'll be an experience.' Polemos continued to have new ideas to put into his journal. His journal was filled with countless ideas and things he wanted to see and explore in this wide and dangerous banished world.
When Polemos reached the water source he seemed to notice that he couldn't spot Elder Spear.
"Well that's weird he did say that he's normally here pretty early, did something happen to him? Shit, did something really happen, I mean come on I get what, one person who decided to help me out of pure kindness and something happened to Elder Spear, what type of novel shit is this!" Polemos cursed whoever set this up as he heard a familiar voice from behind him.
"Who are you yelling at Polemos? I do apologize as I was later than normal, but let's not stop that from our challenge of who catches more." Elder Spear laughed as he limped closer to Polemos with a smile on his face.
When Polemos turned around to say hello to Elder Spear, he frowned as he saw that Elder Spear was limping pretty badly, and he had fresh blood dripping down the left side of his head. Polemos felt a rage start to take form inside him that made his frown more intense and his eyes turn harsher.
"Who did this to you, Elder Spear? For what reason was this done to you tell me." Polemos's rage was palpable as his eyes turned a devilish purple instead of the regular deep royal purple.
"Polemos did you forget that I'm a slave, this is normal for us all. I do appreciate the rage and concern but, there is nothing you can do to change what has already happened. Let me give you some more advice and knowledge Polemos; there is good in this world and there is also evil, you can't have one without the other as that would break the balance. You can't stop all the bad from happening, you can only stop what happens in front of you, or what your strength can control. Remember Polemos, even the Gods can't stop everything bad from happening." Elder Spear was calmly teaching as an elder should to the younger generation while smiling the entire time.
"Now, let's kick your ass in fishing!" Elder Spear replied with some force and an unbroken confidence.
Polemos sighed as he shook his head, but made a mental note that when he got stronger to make sure whoever Elder Spears' master was that he got his just dessert. Polemos also made another note to cause some chaos in the slave areas of the world as it looked like a great way to increase his battle experience.
"You're on 'Old Man', but first at least let me wrap your head before we start the competition and then will see who kicks whoms ass." Polemos chuckled as he grabbed a bandage from the military bag.
"Oh you went to visit Carl, he'd treat you well."
"Yes in fact he did, now hold still I'm not the best at this but it should at least stop the bleeding." Polemos smiled as he tried to wrap the bandage around Elder Spears head.
"All right, that looks good enough, is it too tight or uncomfortable."
"It's just fine, now, let's start this competition."
"Eye sir."
After what felt like a few hours went by, Polemos still wasn't surprised when in fact Elder Spear, did kick his ass again.
"You know I think you must be some type of spearfishing masters that no one has heard of because this is just ridiculous." Polemos' left eye continued to twitch as he stared at another small hill of fish, but noticed that there were mostly smaller ones in the pile this time.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, I did beat you again but, you definitely were focusing more on the bigger fish while I focused more on the smaller ones. Alright same as last time, let's sell the remaining after we separate them, then I'll see you bright and early in the morning Polemos." Elder Spear proceeded to limp over to the piles of fish while Polemos helped to make things go easier.
When it was all separated Polemos placed all the fish into his bag and noticed that it was filled to the brim and could barely hold anymore.
'Well at least I was able to figure out how much the first slot can hold, it looks to be just above two and a half weeks, that's quite a good amount.'
"Alright Elder Spear, I'll see you bright and early tomorrow also, look after that leg and I'll see you tomorrow." Polemos waved as he headed to Carl's tent to give him the remaining fish from both his catch and Elder Spears as he wanted to surprise him with a gift from the fish he caught.
As Polemos was getting closer to Carl's tent he heard another roar come from the tent.
"Who continues to make Carl angry? Well whoever it is must not be that smart or is a complete moron the mans a retired soldier." Polemos chuckled as he headed to the entrance of the tent and walked up to Carl to complete the transaction.
"Hey Carl got some fish meat for you, and I would like to only use my catchings for the leftover balance and use Elders Spears catch for some silver." Polemos explained to Carl
"Well sorry to say that I can't do that as he already came yesterday near the end of the day and specifically said that I'm not allowed to do that, otherwise I would. Sorry."
Carl then went on to explain everything that happened when Elder Spear came to his tent late last night.
"That stubborn Old Man, well thanks for explaining everything to me Carl. Well here's the fish and then I'll see you tomorrow."
