Chapter 11 - Questions and News

"Ahhhh, that felt so relieving. I think I might be a little twisted in the head though."

Polemos had never felt that type of relief in taking someone's life and it scared him a little. As it made barely, if any, sense.

"I'm not shaking, throwing up, crying, or anything normal people are supposed to do when you take another's life? Well I guess I'm not normal but still is this because of my soul's feeling about life or this body's natural reaction. I'll need to put this in the journal then." Polemos sighed as his eyes glanced at both Idiot A and Idiot B.

He then reached down to grab his axe and pulled it from Ellios's head, as blood, bones, and grey matter poured from his head forming a small puddle of blood, bones, and gray matter.

Polemos then wiped his axe off on Ellios's back and started to walk over to Idiot B to get his harpoon back and then cauterize the wounds so Idiot B wouldn't die but still suffer.

"Hey just as a heads up what comes next will hurt a whole lot more than being harpooned….maybe? Well if we see each other again then tell me because this might also kill you. So good luck."

Polemos then turned Idiot B to his side then proceeded to push the harpoon out his back then pull it out. As Polemos pulled the rest of the harpoon out he prepared to cauterize Idiot B's wounds with a fireball spell. He noticed when he was training that he didn't need to say a chant which made him happy as it allowed him to focus on the function and structure of the spell itself.

"Alright, I need to focus and ignore his screams then go and wake up Idiot A if he isn't already. Alright let's do this."

Polemos made a small fireball about the size of his hand but as big as a softball. And slowly pushed it into Idiot B's stomach to cauterize the hole and ignored his screaming.

Idiot B screamed like a pig being slaughtered as Polemos ignored his every cry as he cauterized the stomach first then proceeded to cauterize the hole on his back.

It wasn't the screaming that was hard to ignore, it was the smell, as it was horrid.

Polemos smiled a little because to him that was normal, but it scared the shit out of Idiot A as the screaming did wake him.

As Polemos finished cauterizing Idiot B's back, he then shook his hands, grabbed his harpoon then looked over at Idiot A.

"Hey, good morning, how are you, did you enjoy your nap?"

Polemos's line of questioning caused Idiot A's brain to short circuit for a second as he had no idea on how to respond.

"I didn't hit him that hard did I, I mean all you lost was some teeth and what a broken nose. Hey, can you speak? Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth? Yo Idiot A, can you speak?"

"Yeath."

"Well I wouldn't really call that speaking so, just listen to me for a little bit ok. You will either nod yes; up and down or no; side to side got it ok." Polemos didn't really care if he could speak at all; he just wanted to know if he remembered his name.

"Do you remember who I am?"

Idiot A nodded up and down.

"Good, now how about my name?" Polemos said with no emotion in his eyes but that devilish smile was present.

When Idiot A saw that smile on his face but those emotionless royal purple eyes, he couldn't have moved his head side to side any quicker, as his eyes scared him.

"Good, very good, that makes me happy. But still to be on the safe side I'm taking a little insurance."

Polemos then harpooned Idiot A's hand, walked over and pulled out his axe then chopped off his first three fingers on his right hand.

Idiot A screamed but, before he could scream any longer, Polemos grabbed the back of his head and then kneed him in the nose and knocked him out.

Polemos looked down and looked at the blood that stained his harem style pants and frowned a little. When he saw the blood on his pants he started to give himself a look over and noticed that parts of his body were covered in blood. His hands, feet, leg, and even on his shirt where his axe hung. Polemos sighed because he knew he had to burn or dispose of his clothes because they were now dirty and would make others distance themselves from him.

"Oh well, not like I didn't know this was gonna happen sooner or later just wasn't expecting today of all days. Well I should go back and dispose of these clothes, then go and see Carl and ask him which monster nest would be the best to train at for my current level. Also while I'm there I should at least ask him what's currently going on in the tribe so I'm at least up to date."

Polemos sighed again then realized that he also still needed to fish so he could get some silver from Carl, as he finished the 2,650 kilograms two weeks ago and was able to get some silver for his work.

"Should I just fish now? No, the way I am wouldn't allow me to fish like I normally do. Let's just go back to the area around my tent and dispose and clean myself off, then come back to fish then go and see Carl. Hopefully Idiot A and B are able to get up and leave but, if not then I'll just go to a different stop to fish." Polemos shrugged as he grabbed both his axe and harpoon then went to grab his bag and headed home to clean himself.

By the time Polemos got back to the water source he noticed that both Idiot A and B were able to get up and leave, but Ellios's body was still there just lying in the sand.

"Why didn't they take his body? Guess they cared more about themselves, I wonder if he has anything on him?" Polemos pondered as he rubbed his chin and walked over to see if Ellios had anything important on him.

As Polemos searched Ellios's body he was only able to find a pouch that had 30 silver coins and a note that showed that he and two other followers of Alyan were going to an Elite monster nest in the next couple of days.

When Polemos saw the note he grinned slightly and started to formulate a plan in his mind.

"Well looks like I'll be able to maybe take out two more, I wonder which two he was supposed to meet with. Guess it'll be a surprise when it happens." Polemos chuckled as he proceeded to burn Ellios's body to ash and then oddly put his ashes in a urn like container.

'Perfect, now that iron chest will be useful, I wonder how Alyan will feel when he sees the ashes of his followers. Will he scream, cry, or will he just focus his rage and fears onto me. I can't wait.' Polemos thought as he then proceeded to put the urn into his bag in the camp supplies slot which didn't really make sense but maybe since it was a container it was ok.

Polemos then decided to fish for a little while before he went to go see Carl and ask what was going on in the tribe so that Polemos could better prepare for what needed to be done before he left to gain battle experience to better handle Alyan and his followers.

When Polemos was all done filling his bag full of fish he then went to go and see Carl to get some information and some tools in order to help him when he went to go and kill some monsters.

When Polemos was reaching Carl's tent he heard Carl roar with anger again but was able to hear what he was roaring about as he was close this time.

"I don't care who you follow or what status he has! You can go and tell that brat if he wants to continue to make me angry he'll be paying triple the amount of money if the dumbass doesn't understand his place!" Carl was fuming with rage as he berated and applied his bloody pressure on the poor messenger.

"Yo-you will re-regret this you lo-lowly merchant." The messenger tried to sound intimidating but utterly failed.

"Yeah sure I will, now I have another customer, leave."

The messenger could only click his tongue and glare at Polemos as he scrambled out of the tent.

"What was that about Carl, someone trying to strong-arm you? Did they hit their head against their tent poles or are they that stupid." Polemos asked as he pointed behind while looking at Carl's reaction.

"Yeah apparently they must have because this is that fool's third time trying this crap. You seem different, Polemos, what happened?" Carl asked while looking him in the eye.

Polemos was surprised because Carl didn't call him 'boy' like he normally did since their first meeting. He actually called him by his name!

"I'm surprised you were able to notice but, I guess I shouldn't as you are a retired soldier. I've finally killed someone for the first time not that long ago and it was different than what I thought I would experience. I was more relieved and calm than anything, is that normal?" Polemos asked as he still hasn't made up his mind why he reacted that way.

"For some ya it's completely normal and then for some it's completely different but, just don't get lost in that feeling of killing as that would cause more damage…." Carl continued the conversation and also inputted his experience of dealing with what Polemos was going through.

"The best thing you can do is to talk to others, write down what you felt, or whatever works for you but, don't ever bottle those feelings as that would make things worse for both your mind and body." Carl finished with wisdom in his words as he was trying to make sure Polemos wouldn't lose himself.

"Thanks a lot Carl, I'll definitely keep your words to heart. Now I was wondering if I could get your opinion on which monster nest, supplies and if there's any worthwhile news going on in the tribe?" Polemos asked as he put his bag on the counter and waited for Carl's answer.
