As Polemos was roasting the fish over the fire, he was planning on increasing his body's strength along with his stamina.
'Well stamina is pretty easy. All I need to do is run actually. The sand is a good way to help build the body's stamina. Plus it'll help increase my lower body's foundation also. Now what about this body's strength? Well, I could do basic body strengthening techniques that most militaries used from my world's past life. I mean if that helped them survive then it wouldn't hurt to give that a try.'
Polemos was a little lost in thought, until something was starting to burn in the fire.
"Wait, what's that smell, not another, dammit. That's the twelfth fish. Gods I suck at this, well I still got time." He proceeded to replace the burnt fish and put on another.
Polemos glanced at the sight of the single moon in the night sky that was still slightly bright like coals burning in a fire.
"If I recall when I got here, weren't there two moons in the sky? Are the nights here longer in this world, well that's gonna be interesting. Wait, no it's not. I don't know how to manipulate Mana that way for my eyes, well guess I should do some of those body techniques in the tent for now."
Polemos then glanced at the fish that was burning in the fire, then he slightly squinted and looked at the fish in the fire.
'I wonder how the cooking or how things taste in this world, I wonder how advanced it is.' Polemos thought while he started to gut one of the fish that was a little weird.
"Well, whoever your mothers is, I'm sure she'll surely miss you cause, well damn you ugly." Polemos joked with the dead fish.
With only the wind as his only audience, it was only until he was done with his twentieth fish that he was able to make anything that resembles what was edible.
"Finally some food, I don't care how it tastes that comes later." Polemos really didn't care about the taste as he was already halfway done with the first one to notice. As he was already trying to start another grilled fish.
"Wow, well something tells me these nights are gonna be long, the first moon is now in the sky and I can barely see the second crowning." Polemos exhaled as he just finished his sixth fish, leaving two of the bigger ones that he salted to save for later.
"I really need to thank Elder Spear."
Polemos smiled as he remembered the kind elder who took time out of his day to help someone.
"I feel a little bad for lying to him about my name, if I see him again at the water source I'll make sure to apologize as I have no reason to lie." He said as he glanced again at the sky.
"Finally!! They're both in the sky together. I need a freaking watch, I need to know the time of the days, watches were everywhere in the other world. Really hope they use that type of technology here….maybe?" Which led to no small rabbit hole as he started his workout til Polemos collapsed.
Thud, "Poof"
"Wait, at least let me fall closer to my bed, well sand is better than rocks I guess."
Polemos had a small smile on his face, before he drifted off to the land of dreams and slept….
He didn't wake until a beam of sunlight glare went through a hole in his tent.
"That's bright". Polemos grunted as he decided to get up for the day.
"Wow to be seventeen again, why does that sound like a movie line wait, I wonder what they have in the field of entertainment. Is it advanced or is it that it will be a while away til 'movies' exist?" Polemos questioned as he took a bite out of the salted fish before he went for his run.
'You know these pants could be a lot more comfortable; they resemble 'harem' pants or 'joggers.' Polemos had another thing to add to the ever growing list in his head.
"I also need to write these down in that journal, should I code it? In my last life since I had nothing but time as I got older, I was able to learn and write a few languages."
Polemos still had that ever present smile on his face as many ideas came into his mind.
'Man I really need to write this down when I get back from this run, I wonder if Elder Spear will be at the water source later today.' Thought Polemos, as he then started to focus on the run as it was also harder than he thought.
"Should learn a breathing technique…for running…that could…also help…extremely well for building a good foundation. Need to make these lungs stronger." Polemos was breathing very heavily, as sweat fell from his face.
He continued on for what he felt was adequate for the run as it was better to start off slow then to gradually raise the intensity.
"Alright let's get my spear, put all those ideas inside of that journal, then go and see if Elder Spear is at the water source, apologize for lying about my name, and hopefully he doesn't hit me with his fishing technique." That made Polemos imagine what that would look like and it made him slightly flinch.
'I need to do some more intensive image training, since I don't know how this world actually functions, I might see that type of sight daily, I hope my luck doesn't follow-.'
Polemos stopped himself from finishing that line of thought.
"Dammit, I just gave myself a-. Gods I need to stop that line of thinking. But, why does it feel like it's already gonna happen?" Polemos pondered as he arrived at the entrance to his home. As he spent what felt like an hour before he headed to the water source to increase his food supply again.
"Alright, let's get my spear, grab a couple bites from the salted fish, grab that pot, then head to the water source."
Polemos, although tired from the run, headed to the water source for the rest of the day. 'I wonder how many fish I can catch, hell it'll even help me with trying my hand to perfect the 'Fish Roasting' technique.' He chuckled slightly in his mind as the list continued for his journal. Then focusing himself as he noticed the weight change with the added equipment.
'Do they have spatial equipment, or something similar if they don't, I swear I'll murder the idiot who thought that was a bad idea!' Polemos dreamed until he noticed the water source appear in his vision.
"I can't tell if he's there, it's too far, I hope eye techniques aren't rare…
Stop.
Giving.
Yourself.
RED!
FLAGS!!!"
Polemos berated and cursed whoever the hell this body's first ancestors were as they obviously didn't care about him apparently.
"Oh well, I'll make my own family and build my own happiness in this life with my own hands." Polemos swore, as he had finally reached the water source, put his hood up, and searched for Elder Spear.
It didn't take long for Polemos to find Elder Spear. When he was close enough Polemos called his name.
"Elder Spear, hello. I must first thank you for everything you helped me with yesterday. Thank you, it was very helpful and I will continue to use your teachings."
"No thanks necessary Jason, you sought the knowledge to fish and I just helped you the best I could." Elder Spear smiled as he replied back.
"And for that I must thank you, and I also must ask for your kindness again."
"Oh, why?"
"I lied about my name yesterday, I'm actually not called Jason but Polemos. I'm sorry."
It was quiet as Elder Spear just stood there with the same smile and didn't say anything back.
"There's no real harm done so don't worry, and as punishment, you'll face me in a fishing competition." Elder Spear chuckled when he noticed Polemos was feeling a little uneasy and thought to lift his spirits with a little game.
"I'll also continue to give you some more knowledge; never underestimate your opponent."
Elder Spear was only an Apprentice Acolyte second stage but Polemos didn't really see himself beating the Old Man as he felt the aura of competition from Elder Spear.
"Well who am I to decline a friendly challenge. I'll gladly take you on 'Old man'." Polemos called him by his other name, as that only made Elder Spear reply with a devilish laughter that creeped Polemos out a little.
"Oh, Old Man, really?"
'I should really imprint that statement to memory and my soul like a mantra. Old man, acting ass, from too many anime's to count.' Polemos chuckled in his mind as he looked at the 'Old Man' and prepared to learn and absorb everything he could from him as it was beyond helpful.
As well as to lose, as he was competing against a master of his art thrash an absolute noob who just started. But it never made Polemos frown; it only made him wish to experience all that he could. And see where things would take him.
