I woke up feeling good. I don't know why when I lack sleep but I feel so full of energy. It's Sunday, so there's no work. I'm just meditating here at home. I also don't have anything else to do because apart from not having a Television to watch, I also don't have anything to do, I only do reading books as a pastime like when I don't have a job.
Time flies so fast and it's Monday again. As usual, there is work. I smiled as I walked into the building I was working on. I greeted Good morning everyone I passed by.
I was just about to get to our quarters when Lea suddenly approached me, "Angel, Madam is calling you,"
"Why?"
"I don't know, just go to her office,"
"Okay, Thank you,"
I wondered what I had done, nothing? So I wondered as I walk into the office of Madam Grace, the Head of HR.
I knocked first before entering. "Good morning, Madam," I greeted.
"Good morning, Ms. Joaquin. Please take a seat," he said.
I smiled at her before I sat down, "Uh, Madam why did you call for me?"
"Oh, regarding that Ms. Joaquin, You can't work here anymore."
I stiffened at what I heard. It didn't process right away but I had to respond.
"H-huh? Ma'am... why? Wh-I don't remember breaking any rules in this company," I said tearfully and then bent down to hide the threatening tears.
"God," Madam Grace said laughing, so I looked up at her.
"Ms. Joaquin, don't cry, okay? What I mean is, You've been transferred to another company, so you don't have to worry and most especially, don't cry," I was relieved because Madam said, I'm not going to lose my job yet, it's a good thing.
I immediately wondered why I was transferred? So I turned to her to ask.
"What do you mean? Why did the company transfer me?"
"I don't know about the real reason, our CEO just called me to inform you and he didn't explain why."
I thanked her and was about to leave when she called my name, "'Ms. Joaquin, go to this address tomorrow," she wrote on a piece of paper and handed it to me, "That's the address of your new job, that's where they'll tell you whatever your job will be, you can go home as for today," I thanked her again and said goodbye then left.
I'm wondering what's going on but I think it's going to be well. A new company, new environment, new people. I just hope I can have friends there.
I held onto the piece of paper that Ma'am Grace had given me while staring across a building. I think this is the building of my new work. I know she said "tomorrow" but I can't be bothered anymore so I went straight to it.
"Uhm... Good morning," I greeted the security guard.
"Good morning ma'am,"
I went straight to the front desk after greeting the guard.
"Uh, good morning miss."
"Good morning, ma'am what can I do for you?" a smiling woman greeted me at the front desk.
"Uh, I'm Angel... I was sent here by... J.E Real Estate Company?"
"Wait a minute, ma'am," he said and she looked at the computer for a moment and turned to me still smiling.
"You can proceed to the 25th floor ma'am," he said and then gestured to the elevator.
"Thank you," I smiled at her before heading for the elevator to get to the 25th floor.
The height of this building. I was a bit taken aback on the elevator ride to the 25th floor.
When I got to the 25th floor I didn't see a single person. Was the woman at the front desk playing a prank on me? There is no one here.
I walked further and looked around, I saw a chair and table that I think was the secretary's seat and a door.
I approached it, I knocked three times before entering. The first thing I noticed was the beauty and spaciousness of this office. He has a clear glass wall that when you lean on you will feel like it will break. There is also a leather couch that you'll be scared of sitting on because you know for yourself that it is more expensive than what you earn.
I hadn't finished looking around when someone talked, "You're just on time, Miss Joaquin"
I looked at the man sitting in the swivel chair that I didn't notice because he was sitting with his back turned.
When he turned the chair I sighed, "Y-you?"
He nods at me as an answer.
"A-are you the owner of this company?"
"Hmmm..." he smirked in response to me.
"W-wait, I'm confused, I'm was sent here because they told me I'm going to work here. What will be my job?"
I expected him to say janitress but my whole being was shocked when he said, "Starting from now, you'll be my secretary."
My jaw literally dropped, "S-secretary? Ha ha ha! What do I know about that? Tell me you're just kidding?"
"I'm afraid, I'm not."
My whole being was startled, I wanted to sit down but I didn't want to touch his leather couch with my cheap clothes.
"Just sit first miss Joaquin?" he offered me and got up from sitting in the swivel chair and sat on the couch near where I was standing.
I sat down in front of him, not caring what I was thinking about the expensive couch.
"Here," and he handed me a white folder, I immediately opened it to look inside.
"That's your contract, kindly read the terms and conditions. If you have anything to ask, go on."
I read the contract carefully. I'm just afraid that I won't understand something and I'll break something.
I felt that he was staring at me intently, I could no longer concentrate on reading the contract so I lowered it and looked at him.
"Ballpen?" he smiled and handed me the ballpen, when I reached it I immediately signed the contract.
After signing, I glanced at what was written before finally closing it and looking at the man in front of me. I glanced at the desk he was working on and I read from the plaque, Architect Nathaniel Wren.
Architect, huh?
"So, when do I start?" and with that, I see the humor in his eyes.
