Chapter 5 - First Day

"You can start tomorrow, but If you want to be more familiar with your new work, I suggest you ask my old secretary, John. I bet he's still out there."

"Okay, sir," I answered and got up from my seat to go out and interview Architect Wren's former secretary.

"Ahm ... hi?" I greet the man who seems to be in his mid 30's who is slightly putting away his belongings.

"Oh, are you the Architect's new secretary?" he said as he adjusted the mirror.

"Yes, he said I'll ask you how I'm going to do it,"

"Ah, yes! First, obviously as a secretary, you need to check and fix his schedule. You should always bring a small notebook with you every time there's a board meeting you need to take down notes. Second, when he calls you whatever you're doing you have to stop, he hates waiting. Third, as soon as he arrives you should prepare coffee right away, take note. black. with 2 teaspoons of sugar."

"Fourth, you need to dress appropriately and presentably. Fifth, he wants his workplace to be neat and properly arranged. So far, that's all. It's up to you to find out more in the next few days," he smiled at me. I just nodded at what he said and carefully remembered what he said.

I helped him clean up when I remembered, "Uh if you don't mind, why did you quit this job?" I slowly asked him,

He stopped for a moment to fix his things and think for a moment, "Hmm ... let's just say that I found a better opportunity," he replied and continued to fix things.

When we finished arranging his things, he said goodbye and left. He first entered Mr.'s office. Wren to say goodbye, after which I took him to the elevator.

"Uh, lastly miss Joaquin, don't be late. Mr. Wren really hates latecomer. Especially when he's the one who came in earlier than you." his last reminder to me before entering the elevator.

"Noted! Be careful!" I waved at him with a smile, he nodded at me and smiled before the elevator door finally closed.

I went back to my new workplace. Exactly after I took my seat Mr. Wren went out into his office. He looks like he's about to go somewhere.

"You can go now, Ms. Joaquin," he said before walking towards the elevator.

When he got on the elevator and left I sat in the swivel chair and felt the chair.

I also stood up immediately when I remembered that I needed to buy the things I would need for my new job.

I went straight to the nearby mall from the company. I went to the bookstore to buy a nice notebook and ballpen for taking down notes. I also bought a planner for Mr. Wren's schedule, sticky notes, and index cards.

When I paid for all the items, I went around the mall to wander. I remembered that I didn't have anything to wear properly on my first day as a secretary.

I left the mall and waited for a cab. I will go to a thrift store near where I live to find something to wear.

There are lots of beautiful clothes in the thrift store. Just a little wash it will look expensive again.

When I found a few pairs of clothes that looked decent and nice, I went home immediately to wash the purchased clothes. It's still early so it's definitely going to dry until the next day.

When I finished washing the items I bought at the thrift store, I took out the ones I had bought at the bookstore and put them in the bag that I will use for tomorrow.

I have also written all of the reminders that I remember. With nothing left to do, I got ready for bed early.

I feel like I will be tired tomorrow on my first day as Mr. Wren's secretary.

The next morning I woke up early and got ready for my first day as a secretary. I was nervous and I feel the excitement for today.

Secretary, huh? I am the CEO's Secretary! Go for it, Angel! You can do this. Fighting~

"La," I approached the photo of my late grandmother lying on the side of my bed. "I'm not just a Janitress now, I'm a Secretary," I laughed bitterly.

"If only you were still here, I know you're happy for me. I know you'll be proud of me, you're my number one fan, right?" I smiled and at the same time, my tears were falling which I immediately wiped away.

"Grandma, can you guide me always? I love you, grandma," I said and kissed the picture before standing up.

I was about to walk out the door when I caught sight of the coat hanging in my cabinet. I remember it wasn't mine, It's Mr. Wren's coat.

I first looked at the cheap watch I was wearing, and when I saw it still early, I quickly move to find a bag. Can't I just put it in a plastic bag? But it's not fair because I know that coat is more expensive than the clothes I'm wearing right now.

When I found a decent paper bag I carefully folded the coat and put it in, and left immediately.

I got to the office quickly, and it's good that I got there first before Mr. Wren.

I was just sitting when the elevator opened and my handsome boss walked in, wait... handsome? Yes, he's handsome, but get your senses, Angel! You're here to work and not for the love life! I chastised myself.

I stood up to greet Mr. Wren with a smile, "Good morning, Sir."

He just greeted me with a nod and went straight into his office. I just shrugged it off. I was about to sit down when I remembered what Mr. John told me, yes a coffee.

I made him a coffee. I really remembered Sir John's reminders.

I knocked on Mr. Wren's office to deliver his coffee and of course, I also brought his coat to return.

"Come in," when I heard that I immediately turned the door lock and entered.

I went straight to Mr. Wren's table who never looked up from reading. I carefully put down the coffee for fear that it might be spilled on the important documents.

When I put down the coffee I didn't leave right away. I stood there for about a minute or two before he looked up and turned to me.

"Yes?"

Instead of answering I handed him the paper bag, I was carrying. He immediately reached for it and looked at the content before laying it on the side of his table.

"Thank you for the coat, Sir," I said with a smile, "Have a nice day!" I added and bowed slightly before finally walking away.

When I closed the door my eyes caught him shaking his head with a slight smile on his face.
