Nathan's
I was scanning some papers when suddenly my phone vibrated. An indication that someone is calling me. I looked at my phone and I saw Zach's name.
"Yes?" I said.
[Mr. Wren, we have a problem.] I can sense the panic in his voice.
"Hideout. I'm coming." I uttered and ended the call.
I stood up right after the call ended. I grab my coat and keys.
I saw Angel and I told her that she can go home and after that, I proceed to the elevator.
When I got in the car, I immediately started it away. Gladly, there's no traffic so I got there right away.
Before I go out, I opened the dashboard and get my gun on it. I stared at it for a moment. It's a Colt CZ-40. I put it in a secret pocket in my suit.
Upon entering the hideout my staff scattered. They greeted me and I nod at them as a response.
I stayed in a room. This is a private room, where all of our meetings are being held. It's soundproof as well. Here in this private room, there's another door, a secret passage going to the interrogation room.
The interrogation room has a table and a chair. The seat that hundreds of people have gone through, and died there.
I immediately sit as I finally arrived.
"What happened?" I asked without further ado.
"Sir, about the transaction that happened days ago," Diego said.
"What about it?" My brows furrowed, "Our transaction with Mr. Lao is already done and successful. What about it?"
"According to that, Sir," Leon interrupted, "They say we tricked them. They received a wrong item. And I guess, someone sabotaged us," he concluded.
I fell into deep thought. What the fuck happened?! First, someone tipped the police that there would be a transaction in that parking lot and it was almost chaotic. That transaction, shit. It is possible that someone sabotaged us.
"Zach," I called him as soon as I gathered myself, "Look deeper in this situation," I ordered him.
"Noted, sir."
"Leon, look for the possible person that may betray us. Only in this organization."
"Copy that, Sir!" he salutes at me.
"Diego, look for Mr. Lao's people. It's possible that one of the people he sent could have sabotaged us."
"Settled," and nodded nod further.
I nod, "We should start investigating. Even before there is trouble between us and Mr. Lao's group." I stated.
I'm already in my room and reading some papers. When I received a call from Mr. Lao on my burner phone. I answered it immediately.
[Mr. Wren,] He greeted me.
"Mr. Lao,"
[I guess, you already know what happened?] He said and still laughed.
[That's so wrong, Mr. Wren. Well, if you don't fix it right away. Then you leave me no choice but to start a war between the two of us,] and with that, the call ended.
I gritted my teeth and threw my phone in my bed. I was breathing heavily when I thought about, Zach, Leon, and Diego. I called them in a conference call and asked for an update on their work.
[Boss, I've gathered the information from the people sent by Mr. Lao,] I heard Diego, said.
"Good, bring it tomorrow in our hideout. Zach?"
[I haven't found a hole yet, Boss. They worked very well there's no sign of dirt,] I sighed in annoyance.
"You're better than this, Zach. Do your work properly!" I yelled at him. You can't blame me, I was so stressed out because of that call. I can't start a war between Mr. Lao. I still have no end and no one can add to be my enemy.
"Leon, update?" I turned to Leon.
[Sir, I don't see anything that could possibly be a troublemaker among us, right in our group. So I thought, the snake doesn't come from us, I have a strong feeling that Mr. Lao that.] Leon concluded.
"That's also what I'm thinking, so we need to find out who. Now the two of you, help Zach with what I'm making him work for." And with that, I ended the call.
I massaged my temples. What a tiring day.
The next day, I woke up and do my morning routines and drove my way to the office. Nothing special happens.
Except that, Angel makes me smile for today. I rarely smile, and I don't know how did Angel manage to make me smile with anything she does.
I was enjoying the coffee that Angel gave me when the three idiots barged into my office. The smile on my face immediately washed away.
"Boss, nice smile ah?" and Leon.
"Woah, inspired," Diego said.
"Of course, bro," Zach intervened.
The three of them are wearing suits but they still act stupid.
"What brings you here?" I finished my coffee and looked at them.
"Nothing," Leon said and sat on the couch and the two followed him.
"We're just hanging out," Diego added.
"Don't you have jobs?" I furrowed my brows in astonishment.
"We have, but we're too lazy to work." Leon's righteousness.
I didn't mind them and just continue doing my work.
I didn't realize that Angel had already entered my office and was already offering the lunatics what.
"Just juice for me, Miss Angel," Leon said with another wink.
What the fuck? These idiots are really getting into my nerves.
"It's the same with us, Miss Angel," Zach said.
After that Angel immediately came out, and the three immediately turned to me with a playful smile on their lips.
"What the hell?! You all really looked stupid. Stop looking at me like that," I hissed and they just laughed at me. For Pete's sake, they're just distracting me from my work !!!
"Your secretary is beautiful, Mr. Wren!" teasing Leon with matching thumbs up yet.
I closed my eyes trying to calm myself. So, I just raised my middle finger at him as an answer. They fired me back with their laughter.
