Peace walked into her office, she looked around with a dissatisfied expression.
"Do you not like it?" Mark was disappointed.
"No, Not at all--change everything! There is no light in the room! How is one supposed to work here? And what's up with these windows?" Peace clicked her tongue. "This place needs a full renovation." She added.
"Yes! We will start working on it, you can work in the Director's office until then." Mark added.
"Hm… that sounds nice, And one more thing! Bring me the yearly report of all the projects that are currently ongoing, bring me every single bit of information," Peace spoke with a clear voice.
"Right away! I will start working on it." Mark left the room.
Peace erased the frowning expression from her face and pulled out her phone. She dialed Ada, Her name was saved under the text "Hubby" with a few emojis at the end, it was Ada who saved it that way, Peace frowned a bit and muttered, "Should I change the name?"
But she brushed off the thought and called Ada. Ada picked up the call after just two rings.
"Guess what?" She spoke, trying to contain her excitement.
"What?! You successfully trampled over a bunch of old men?" Ada spoke with a plain tone.
"How did you know that?" Peace asked.
"Oh please! What else should I expect from you? Once you are left alone with some arrogant people everyone can tell what you will do to them," Ada chuckled.
"Haha! Well said!" Peace replied.
"Sigh! Your meeting went well but what about mine? Isaac is avoiding me like a plague," Ada spoke in a disappointing tone.
"Hmm— I saw him at the meeting today," Peace muttered, "He is just like those old morons—he likes to underestimate people," Peace clicked her tongue.
"You did? What did you two talk about?" Ada asked.
"Why would I talk to him?" Peace rubbed her wrist lightly and spoke. "I just saw him sitting back while staring at me, I could see him belittling me," Peace muttered.
"I know right! He thinks he is Mr, who knows it all… but sometimes he gives me some serious fright," Ada mumbled.
"Hmm— you are right! By now he must have found out about my identity and he would be most probably thinking of getting back at me," Peace spoke.
"So what are you thinking?" Ada asked.
"Nothing— I will give him a surprise when he makes a move," Peace was very confident when she spoke.
"I don't know why, but the way you deal with Isaac makes me think you know him too well… you know what he will do next even when he hasn't thought of it," Ada took Peace for a mystery, she had never completely understood her. The only thing she knew for sure was that as long as you are true to Peace she will carve out her heart for you, she will sacrifice herself for you. just because you are loyal to her. The only thing Peace knows is to be loyal.
"Hah! I have a lot of work to do." Peace ended the call, Mark too entered the room holding a few files.
"These are some of them, I will sort out the rest of them and bring them to you soon," Mark assured her.
"Okay—" Peace picked up one of the files.
"And where is my temporary office? Lead me there,"
"Sure, This way!" Mark pointed towards the door, He led her to the other room that was empty for a while, it was better than the last one in Peace's opinion. She walked around the table and took the seat.
"I will bring you a cup of coffee," he stepped back but Peace stopped him,
"Wait, I have something to ask of you," She spoke.
"Me?!" He was surprised.
"Yes, but could you close that door first?" Peace pointed her finger at the door.
"Yes!" He closed the door and walked back towards the table.
"Have a seat," Peace spoke gently unlike she spoke in the meeting. Mark gulped down his saliva and pulled the seat. He wasn't having a good feeling about the situation.
"Don't be scared, I don't bite." Peace tried to calm him down.
"I am not scared," he forced a smile.
"That's great to hear than," Peace muttered and placed her hands on the table, "How much do you get paid?" She asked.
"What kind of question is that?" Mark frowned.
"Just tell me! How much do they pay you?" Peace repeated her sentence. Mark stared at her for a few seconds before replying.
"It's 2500$ per month," he replied.
"Hm—it's quite a small amount for an employee of your position, Don't you think?" She asked,
Mark was speechless, "I know the employees of the company aren't paid enough, you can tell me," Peace asked.
"The company is suffering from some problems so—" Mark replied in A small voice.
"What do you think about the board meeting?" Peace changed the question abruptly.
"It was a mess, the shareholders weren't happy with you at all," Mark was speaking and Peace had a satisfied smile on her face, she nodded slightly at his words as if she had succeeded in a huge mission. Mark was taken aback by her easy-going attitude.
"You are not worried?" Mark asked.
"About what?" Peace asked.
"About the board members removing you from the position?" Mark asked.
Peace smiled and got up from the chair, "No, I am not," she replied and looked out of the window with satisfaction.
