Chereads / Gone With The Bling / Chapter 22 - 22

Chapter 22 - 22

"How dare she?!"

The files that were previously laying on Isaac's table landed on the floor when he pushed them away in anger.

His tie was dangling down loosely. While a few shirt buttons were unbuttoned roughly, making the rise and fall of his chest prominent. His forehead was knitted into a dispelling expression. His ego was hurt, it was the first time someone had walked over him like that.

"I will make you pay for it," Isaac spoke while grinding his teeth. His eyes flashed towards his cell phone on the table. He picked it up and dialed a number. The other side picked up the phone quite quickly. Isaac stepped away from the mess, his face still holding the disdain.

"I have something to discuss with you, Let's meet up," said Isaac.

"It's very unlikely of Mr. Mendoza to personally call someone like me," The voice on the other side replied.

"I don't have time for your useless conversations, Meet me up, no I will come to your office tomorrow." Replied Issac and ended the call. He breathed out heavily and fixed his messy hair.

"Let's see how long you can hold that arrogance of yours," said Isaac. " I decided to let it go once, but not this time."

"Achoo!!" Peace's nose was red. She had been sneezing for fifteen minutes straight, her nose was all runny and the crumpled pieces of tissue paper were decorated on the top of her bed.

"Gosh! How did I end up with the flu?" Muttered Peace in a sick voice, not knowing that someone was planning to bury her alive.

Water continued to flow from her eyes and her constricted nose made it hard for her to breathe, so she got out of the bed and pulled her bag to pack her clothes.

"Woo-oo," Isaac howled lightly.

"Get ready, Isaac. We are going to visit Mom," said Peace as she stuffed her clothes into the bag.

"Achoo!" She sneezed into her favorite shirt. "Haah! This is not good!" said PEace and ran into the washroom to blow her nose.

After a long time finally, she had packed her bag and a few of Isaac's favorite munching toys. Peace wrapped herself in woolen clothes and covered her head with a scarf. She tied a leash around Isaac and walked down the stairs. Her foot was still hurting and she was limping all the way down. Luckily Ada saw her sorry state and ran over to help her.

"What happened? Did you catch a fever or something?" She placed her cold hands on Peace's forehead on which she trembled,

"You are burning up! Let me call a doctor for you," said Ada, as she prepared herself to call the doctor.

"No! Just drop me off at Mom's. I will manage the rest." Peace spoke in her nose, her voice had changed drastically.

"Are you sure you will be okay?" Ada asked in a worried tone.

"Hmm…" Peace nodded.

Ada was unsure but when she saw Peace's determination, she picked up the bags for Peace and walked her out along with Isaac who proudly followed Peace with his chest out.

The sun was going down and it was getting colder. Ada drove Peace towards her Mother's home. Peace rested on Isaac's fur, she had curled up into a ball. Her complexion was getting paler and paler. Ada slowly parked the car in front of a brown sliding gate.

"Peace!--Peace!" Ada turned around and glanced at Peace who was fast asleep.

"Sigh!" Ada looked at Isaac and muttered. "Keep an eye on her," said Ada and got out of the car. She walked up to the gate and rang the bell.

She patiently waited outside for someone to come and finally, the gate opened and a guard walked out.

"How may I help you miss?" Asked the man.

"That! Tell Madam Scarlett that Peace is at the gate." Ada replied. The guard scanned her and then looked at her car before going in. Ada was left alone outside the mansion. She looked at the beautifully built mansion. She gave out a long breath. "Lucky her," she muttered and walked back to the car, she opened the backseat and lightly patted Peace's shoulder to wake her up.

"Huh?" Peace jerked up and looked around, she was wide awake suddenly.

"We are here, Get up and go inside," Ada said, before walking up to the trunk to pull out her Peace's luggage. Isaac jumped out of the car and stretched his back before going back to Peace's lap. He lightly pulled her out of the back seat. Just then Scarlett ran out of the gate in excitement. Her gaze eagerly searched for Peace who had rolled herself in multiple scarves.

"Peace!! My child," She ran over to Peace and hugged her tightly. Scarlet's eyes slowly teared up as she patted Peace's back gently. "It has been so long!!"

Ada stood behind them with her back against the trunk. She stared at the mother and daughter pair with envy. Ada was an orphan and she had always had the feeling of emptiness, Now when she saw Scarlet gently patting Peace as tears rolled down her cheeks. The tender mother love she showed Peace made Ada tear up. She swiftly got inside the car and started the engine. And before either of them could stop her, she drove away in a hurry.

"Why did she leave like that?" Asked Scarlet.

"She must be busy," Said Peace and breathed in harshly,

"Love, what have you done to yourself? How did you end up like this?" Asked Scarlet as she shouldered Peace, who was having a hard time standing up straight.

"It happened while I was working,"

"Come on in, I will call for the doctor," Said Scarlet and pulled her inside the gate.

"Go grab the luggage," Scarlet said to the guard who stood by the gate. Isaac too followed them with a proud expression.

"Sit down here, I will bring you some soup," Scarlet took PEace to a spacious room, and sat her up on a huge bed. Isaac hopped on the bed too. Scarlet hurriedly walked out of the room after covering Peace in a blanket.

"Isaac! Bring me my phone, It's in my bag," Peace spoke in a sick voice.

Isaac jumped off the bed and walked out of the room with his furry tail swinging left and right in mid-air.

It took Isaac a few moments, and he brought the phone tightly clenched between his jaws. He safely placed it in Peace's hand.

"Thanks, buddy," said Peace and unlocked the phone to call Mark.

"Hello!" Said, Peace.

"Miss.Peace?! What happened? Are you alright?" said Mark in a worried tone when he heard PEace's sick voice.

"Nothing, I just called to tell you that I will skip work for two days, Please handle the work in the office," Peace spoke.

"Work? But I don't--" Mark's tone was reluctant. Peace understood his feeling so she spoke again.

"It's okay, Just inform me if the shareholders are planning something fishy," PEace was getting drowsy, She ended the call and threw her head back on the pillow.
