"I am tired!! I don't want to get up!!" Peace wined when she saw that it was already morning and it was time to go to work, she kicked the sheets angrily and got up off the bed, Isaac jumped in fright at her aggressive behaviour.
"Aoo-aoo-Wo-? Oowo wo-?"
'What is the meaning of this? Can't you see I am still sleeping?"
"Sorry! I am just tired!!" Peace buried her face in Isaac's fur and shouted.
"Woo-ooow,"
'You were the one who wanted this job,'
Isaac spoke arrogantly and placed his head back on the pillow.
"Go back to sleep! I will go now!" Peace pulled herself out of the bed and went to change, She went out of the room… a maid was carrying a tray in her hand towards Charlotte's room. Peace approached her and stopped her.
"Give this to me, I will bring it to her," Peace said.
"Yes, Do you want me to send your breakfast to the room too?" The maid asked.
"No, I am good…" Peace took the tray towards Charlotte's room, before opening the door she took a deep breath and knocked.
"Come in!" She said.
Peace opened the door to see Charlotte sitting beside the window writing something.
"Your breakfast." Peace places the tray beside her.
"Oh! It's you!" Charlotte smiled,
"What are you doing?" Peace asked with interest.
"Here! This is my aunt's contact number… she must be expecting me by now, I am sure Ada didn't visit her even once." Charlotte spoke.
Peace's lip suddenly formed into a smile,
"Thank," Peace took the paper,
"But you should not let me down, you must keep your promise!" Charlotte spoke in a cautious tone.
"Don't worry I have started working on it," Peace assured her.
"And one more thing! There is a mansion in the city that belonged to my mother, it's mine now and my aunt's family will visit that place once she finds out I am back. I think Ada should move to the mansion before someone gets suspicious of her," Charlotte picked up a piece of bread and spoke.
Peace thought for a while and then gave a slight nod, "Hm— I will tell her that,"
Peace spoke the last words and walked out of the room and out of the mansion.
..................….
Peace walked into her office and took a seat. Mark followed her while holding a diary.
"Welcome Miss," Mark spoke.
"Thanks, And about the construction site, I hope you haven't forgotten." Peace looked up at him.
"Everything is ready, We will go once you are ready," Mark replied.
"Hmm— okay then, I would like to head out now." Peace stood up again.
"Okay," Mark stepped back, leaving way for Peace to walk. Once Peace was out of the door Mark Followed obediently.
"The company has prepared a car for you," Mark spoke.
"Hmm—" Peace made a sound from her mouth as she reached the outside of the building. A black luxurious car was waiting by the door, Mark opened the door for her and she took a seat, Mark too sat in the front seat and the journey began, the site wasn't very far away from the city, but it did take them two long hours to reach the destination.
Peace got off the car and looked around the place, there were huge machines and hundreds of workers going up and down on the under-construction building.
Mark stood beside her and followed her gaze. "Who has the most shares in this project?" She asked,
"Most of the shares belong to the Swiss And Peterson's—"
"Peterson—you mean Sheldon Peterson? The one who was on fire in the board meeting?" Peace stopped him and asked.
"Yes!"
"And what about the other board members?"
"Many are investing in the other ongoing projects, this one is catching their attention because there is a great chance of success here," Mark replied.
"Great chance of success—?" Peace laughed inwardly and stepped towards the dusty path that leads to the semi-built building. "Miss, wait for me," Mark pulling out the safety helmets and saw her walk away.
"Miss, wear this. You can never be sure about these kinds of places," he looked around with a hostile gaze.
Peace took the bright yellow helmet and wore it along with the neon vest.
The building was going to be a hotel, even though it wasn't still built one could see the uniqueness of its design. It sure was going to make a huge profit in the future. Peace walked around the place and met the workers while Mark slipped away to fetch some water.
"This place is going to be spectacular— but what a shame (buzz, buzz)"
Peace looked down at her phone screen to see who was calling at it was Alex, she swiped the screen and took the phone to her ear.
"Where are you?" He asked.
"I am at work, why?" Peace replied.
"Nothing I just wanted to use your car as I crashed mine yesterday," Alex replied
"You did? Are you okay? Did you get injured?" Peace asked with a worried tone.
"Yes, yes I am okay!! Stop nagging like an old lady!" Alex replied in a laughing voice.
"Can you be a bit more careful about you—"
"Peace! watch out!!"
She was still on the phone when she got distracted by a loud voice, She looked up at the person who had spoken just now but before she could interpret his words or could do anything he pulled her hand towards himself, PEace's phone slipped out of her hand while they fell on a pile of cement. Peace groaned with pain as she felt a heavyweight on her ankle that got twisted because of the pull.
"Miss. Peace!!" Mark ran over to her, his face was pale when he saw the scene unravel in front of his eyes, A huge block fell from the ceiling and was about to hit Peace but she was successfully pulled away at the right moment.
Peace looked at the person that fell beside her. The guy's black eyes were knitted with pain, HIs hair were filled with cement.
"Are you okay?" He asked,
Peace stared at him with a blank face, she breathed out heavily and gulped down her saliva, There was an odd emotion boiling up in her stomach, it made her look away. Mark held out his hand to help her up, she didn't resist and grabbed his hand and got up from the pile of cement. Isaac was still on the ground with a painful expression. PEace dusted off her clotes and then glanced down at Isaac with thankful gaze.
"Come on! Get up," After Peace was on her feet again she held out her hand for Isaac. His facial expression changed drastically as he was caught off guard. He didn't expect this kind of reaction from her side.
"Are you not getting up?" She said again.
"Oh yes!" He grasped her hand and stood up.
"Thank you for helping me," She said.
"What a coincidence! Both of us here," Isaac replied.
Jermy came running towards Isaac and gave a smile to Peace before handing over a water bottle to Isaac.
"I think not," Peace replied to Jermy's smile and spoke to Isaac,
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"You knew I was here," Peace smirked, "I can tell by the look on your secretary's face that he had expected me here," Peace spoke.
Isaac was left speechless for a few seconds and then he chuckled. "Hm—you have a point, I did know you were here but the reason for my visit wasn't you," he spoke.
"I know, You came here to check if this project is worth your investment—you are planning on buying the stocks," Peace muttered.
Mark's lip curled into a smile when he heard Peace, but his gaze fell on her foot that had a stain of blood on it.
"Miss you are hurt!" He said in a worried tone and pulled out a handkerchief off his pocket to press it on her wound.
Isaac's eyebrows ceased when he saw Mark,
"No, don't it's okay." She pulled away a bit.
Isaac bent down and pressed his handkerchief on her foot. "Bring me the first aid box," he spoke to Jermy.
"No! Don't!" Peace wanted to pull away but Isaac held onto her and didn't let her move.
"This place is not right!" He stood up and pulled off his dusty jacket on the pile of cement and then swooped up Peace in his arms.
"This-" She frowned,
"I know this is improper but I have to bring you to somewhere clean," he said and walked away, Mark followed them.
