As soon as they got inside the door Luck was already asking Yuki for the first step to modify his own brain.
[System - I don't think this is such a good idea. You only practiced on one patient, that's not a large enough sample size. Your DNA shares a lot of similar sequence chains to a human, is also different. I have nothing to compare it with to get a accurate simulation. Keep in mind that not all humans have the same latent potential to develop telekinesis as well.]
Thinking that Yuki was right, and that he needed to develop a back up plan before he started modifying his own brain. After all one mistake could leave him retarded and unable to fix the damage he caused to himself.
"I'll just create a second brain then, I can just clone the one I have and attach the new brain to the body. It doesn't necessarily need to remain in the same shape as my current brain, it just needs to have the same capability and connectivity."
Not needing Yuki to calculate anything for him this time around, Luck sat down on the floor and gathered up his energy, then imagined a perfect copy of his brain but this second brain would be smaller and the neurons would be much denser to compensate for the loss in size.
He decided to transform his gallbladder into a brand new 1.5lb (680g) brain. Despite being half the size of a normal brain, due to the neuron density it was even more effective than the one in his head. Creating and connecting the new brain to the rest of the body was a complex process, but his power over life was only limited by his imagination thankfully. He just had to visualize it working correctly and as long as he was somewhat close to the right idea it would work like magic.
*Hows that? Now even if I fry the one in my skull, I can just fix it using the backup. Also my head is no longer a fatal weakness anymore.*
[System - I don't think you can be called human after tonight, you could probably remove a kidney too and add a third brain if you wanted too.]
Not being the least bit concerned over a small detail like being considered a human or a monster, Luck takes the systems advice and transforms his kidney into a third working brain.
Once all three brains were formed and working in sync, his system let him know his aptitude had more than tripled. From the previous score of 23, it was now at 70. However the energy required to run 3 brains became a issue.
His energy dropped down from 18.5 to 12. Physique actually improved from 20 to 25, which Luck attributed to his vastly improved control over his body.
Recalling the feeling of when he leveled up back in the mechanics lab and imagining his cells bursting with energy Luck started to condense his cells and everything else in his body to become as efficient as he possibly could be, before starting to work on his brain.
After a few hours of body modifications with Yuki, Luck hit his current genetic limit based on his current knowledge and the calculations Yuki could make. The only way to progress any further was to modify his DNA sequences, or let his system collect souls to work its own special blend of magic.
Pulling up his status panel, it showed him
[Level 25R]
Physique - 37
Energy - 60
Aptitude - 70
Luck - 12
Abilities - Life/Time/Mutation/Psychokinesis
Active skills - Heal (Intermediate)
Passive Skills - Regeneration (Moderate) / Time Perception (Moderate) / Toxin Resistance (High) / Energy Absorption (Moderate)
This was result of his work so far. Without further modifying his brain, he wanted his body to be as perfect as possible to make the process smoother. Thanks to the higher aptitude and the increase in energy Luck was able to make changes at lightning speeds compared to before and he still had 2 hours to experiment on his brain.
Disconnecting the main brain in his skull from the rest of the body, Luck started by compressing the neurons like he did for the other two, and adding more brain cells to the mix. With its larger size to start with and the neuron density now being almost 75% higher than before, he rejoined it to the body again.
His aptitude had risen once more and was now at 90, while his energy remained the same at 60.
Starting to feel ravenously hungry Luck thought of the nutrition tablets he had gotten from supply and just like magic the bottle floated over to him.
"Mind over matter right Yuki?" Luck grins and opens the container while levitating the bottle in front of him upside down. Eating the entire weeks worth of food in one go.
Using his new psychokinetic power, he turns on the sink in the room and a invisible force is guiding the water along right to Lucks waiting open mouth while he chugs a gallon of water all in one go.
As the brain is 73% water and he had made 2 of them, he was felt very dehydrated right now. While he could replenish himself with life energy, he still naturally felt hungry and thirsty after doing so many modifications.
"3 brains, 2 hearts, and 3 lungs", Luck says to himself as he starts to hover in the air while simultaneously turning the sink off and guiding the left over water he didn't drink neatly back to the sink without spilling a drop.
Using his Psychokinetic power, he noticed it didn't actually require any energy from him. Basically all he had to do was think about it and it would happen. At least for these simple things he mused.
*How does your system work exactly?*
Knowing that he was wanting specifics on how the system could improve his body when he had reached what was currently his genetic limitation. Yuki didn't have a good answer for him. As she didn't know exactly how it functioned herself.
Sending him everything she knew of the system through their shared connection was the best she could do.
After receiving the information from Yuki, Luck rapidly reviews it.
*Interesting, so your my system, and the system you have was given to you in the same way my abilities were given to me. That means there is a system for your system, that is working as my system. This is amusing, this universe is not the last destination, as it's just a simulated reality. We will know when we finally get free of the simulation when the system no longer functions.*
[System - Even if that is true. It doesn't make this universe any less real however.]
Luck however felt differently, he was no longer concerned with the so called lives of the people and things living here. He was determined to use this universe as his stepping stone now.
