Chapter 10 - captives, tea, and negotiations

Looking at the ever continuing road Eduard sighed, he couldn't rush the carriage forward since he had orcs on shift walking beside it and he couldn't get rid of them because he needed them to watch the prisoners and scout the area as they progressed. Alongside all the other problems he had a beautiful elf noble and guard tied up in the back seat. Brainstorming on what to do next their group pressed on, deciding to stop for the night Eduard climbed down from the carriage and went to talk to the orcs instructing them to set camp up in the clearing he had selected.

Aiwin looked outside the carriage in fear and interest, seeing the orcs milling about taking the things her group had taken with them, off the carriage preparing some of the prepackaged goods and setting up some of the tents her expedition had brought with them. Seeing her captors using the things she brought made her eyes wet, this was how far she had fallen let alone her position she couldn't even protect her belongings or self. Seeing her get sad Elaine comforted her.

"Don't worry Aiwin, I'm sure this boss of theirs can be reasoned with, maybe if we explain what's going on he might let us go." The elf guard said though it was clear she didn't even believe her own words.

Right as the two of them had begun talking the big orc opened the door of the carriage and grabbing both of them he pulled them from it, setting them on the ground he cut Elaine free and gestured for three new orcs to come over. Telling them to watch the girls, he turned back to the captives and growled, "Be prepared, you will be speaking to the master soon." After saying this the big orc stood and walked away leaving the two of them nervously looking at each other.

After a few minutes of waiting, the two elves were led away from the carriage towards the Three tents that were set up inside the orc camp. As the approached the tent the orc leader was staying in, aiwin saw that it was in fact the tent she had pact for herself a sense of sadness welled up inside her, she had lost everything and now didn't even have her own tent, sighing she and Elaine were led near the entrance by the large orc.

"Master I have brought the prisoners, may I send them in?" Aiwin noticed the large orc asked in fear not daring to displease whatever monstrosity was inside.

"Send them in and go and take a rest, Grimble." the voice echoed out from within the confines of the tent. The large orc gestured for them to go in and simply walked away leaving them unguarded

The voice from within the tent wasn't as monstrous as she had thought, and aiwin was even more shocked for the orc Grimbles disregard of their ability to run away, simply leaving them unguarded outside the tent. Looking over at Elaine she was shocked to find a tense face, wondering what was wrong she asked, "hey Elaine come on what's wrong why are you so on edge, the orc just left us alone."

Sighing out, Elaine looked at Aiwin apologetically and said, "I may have been able to fight the orcs if I had my weapon, but I can sense that whatever is within that tent is above me in power, let's just go inside and see what will befall us."

Looking at the tense and downcast face of her friend Aiwin sighed and stepped into her tent. Walking into the tent she was surprised to see three proportions of food and wine laid out at the table, pillows sat around it and her sleeping bag even in the corner of the room. Aiwin didn't know what to suspect but this cozy looking tent was not what she thought of when she thought of how she would meet her captor. Looking at the table she could see that the wine and food were all things they had brought on their journey before the ambush. There captor who appeared to be a man rapt in a luxurious red and black cloak sat at the table on one side, the hood covering his head so she couldn't see his features.

Seeming to notice the entry of the pair of friends the cloaked man gestured to the food and the table, instructing them to sit. Looking at the delicious looking food in front of them the elves' stomachs rumbled, they hadn't eaten since a couple hours before the ambush and now it had been a whole day, they were starving, but they didn't touch the food and looked cautiously at it.

"I'm not so uncouth as to poison my captives' food, if I had any plans you would have never been offered a choice."

Hearing the calm and eloquent voice of what seemed to be a young man, Aiwin was confused, why was he with orcs, why did he cover his face, why did he take them prisoner. But seeing as the cloaked man was waiting for them to start before continuing, Aiwin gave up and simply started eating, if this cloaked man had anything planned it was going to happen no matter what she did. Seeing Aiwin start to eat, Elaine sighed and watching the cloaked figure wareily, she also started her meal.

Looking at the cloak figure who watched them patiently as they ate a question surged up in Aiwin. Why wasn't he eating, "um sir are you gonna eat with us or are you just waiting for us to finish?"

The cloaked figure looked right at her for a second and told her "It's annoying to eat with the hood on, and you two would talk less if you knew who I was."

I wonder what could be so bad about this humans looks that he would want to hide them from us, thinking that Aiwin decided to press further. "We are nothing more than your prisoners, we have no right to judge you." Though she said that she still thought that if she was back home she wouldn't have to deal with some nobody bandit.

Seeming to acknowledge what she said, the hooded figure lowered the cloak covering his head, and what the girls saw shocked them. Tw goat horns curled above the man's head over short black hair, two red and black eyes stared at them, Alone with his dashingly handsome face, A smirk resting on his face he stared at the girls. This was a high demon. A shiver of fear went up the elves backs, remembering the stories they had heard about these demons.

The demon chuckled at their fear and held out his hand for a shake, "My name is Eduard I hope you can tell me yours."

Shaking off her fear and shock Aiwin shakily held her hand out to the demon Eduard "My name is Aiwin, Aiwin Greenwind" she had planned on only giving her first name, but Eduard's eyes compelled her to tell the truth.

"And this is my companion Elaine, we were on a diplomatic journey to the southern human nations to request help with the rising amount of monsters, but they laughed at us and said that they had their own problems to deal with. They sent us back without even a real welcome, and then the bandits attacked us, and.,., and now we're here." Aiwin hadn't wanted to say all that but once she looked at Eduard's face she felt like she should just say what had happened, after she had finished she looked up to see her captor, Eduard looking at her in amusement.

"I didn't know The Elven princess would come so far south and would come into my possession." A chuckle escaping from his lips.

Aiwin and Elaine froze, she had told him she was the princess by accident, she just couldn't stop talking when he was in front of her. Hearing another chuckle they both looked at the demon Eduard.

"Don't look so worried, I won't hurt you, but I expect your royal father will be willing to make a trade with me for your safe release, am I right." Seeing the smile on his lips Aiwin froze and started to feel bad about her slip of the tongue.

Looking at Eduard with a smile on his lips she trembled, "You have to know that our kingdom does not have much wealth, they won't be able to pay a high price for me." Aiwin said with tears in her eyes, thinking what her captor might do to her and Elaine if his demands were not met.

Eduard smiled while looking at her, "I don't need your money there is something that your elf kingdom has that I want back, your father probably will know what im talking about."

Seeing that the demon had a clear objective in mind, fear gripped her and he would use her to destroy her own country, "If you plan on hurting my people just kill me my father will never accept the trade, he loves my brother more. I am nothing more than a pawn he will marry off when the time is right."

Eduard smiled at her and said, "I don't need anything that will hurt your people. I just need my servants, you have locked up nothing more."

Hearing what he said, Aiwin and Elain froze, the only Demons they had locked up in their country were some of the most powerful, sealed within the old god of light alter from the last great war. To call those demons servants would mean that the Demon would have to be a royal. Seeing their shocked expressions Eduard confirmed their questions, "In case you're wondering my name is Eduard Asmodius, I am what you could call a demon king, though I'm pretty new to the game I guess."

Surprise and terror welled up inside Aiwin and Elaine "Demon king? but the last one died before even my father was born, that's not possible it's been peaceful for so long. No you can't be."

Looking at Eduard who sat on the other side of the with a pleased smile on his face Aiwin got a foreboding feeling, is he really the demon king, but before she could think further he stood up. Turning to the side slightly he pointed to his side, There was a broadsword connected to his hip, with a black jeweled scabbard. Looking at the sword Aiwin was shocked. That was the demon king's sword, the sword that only the king of evil could wield.
