Chapter 40 - Monster Killing Training Part Two

On the practice field, all the students in Fate's class were standing in front of Aiden, who was pacing back and forth with his hands behind his back. "Today, we will be fighting monsters generated by a creation ability circle. These monsters will be around level 2 to 3. And believe me when I say that they are one hundred percent real. The creation ability allows the person to create copies of things they know everything about. It is not an easy ability to use, and the family that has it is one of the top paragon families. They were nice enough to create some ability circles in order for us to utilize such an ability for training. They are also the reason why we trinities have been able to rise so fast. You could say without this family, we would not be where we are today."

A male student raised his hand and asked: "What is the name of this family?"

"Paragon families names are not to be spoken out casually. Even I do not know their name. I only know what they have supplied us with. Anyway, enough of the lecture. Let's get down to what we are here for. In this lesson, each of you will go up one at a time and fight a monster. I do not care what family you are from or what your ability is. As soon as you enter the battle area, you will not be able to leave unless you defeat the monster or are ejected out because you are about to die. What you will see here today will harden your hearts to what will be happening in the future. Some of you will lose a limb. Some will be bitten in half. You will see a lot of things today that will make you feel sick, but no matter what, you will need to watch. Whoever looks away will be forced to fight two monsters at the same time. I am sure you would love to feel what it is like to be pulled apart by two monsters before being ejected from the battle zone." Aiden's words sent chills down everyone's spine. They never expected that while in the academy, they were going to have to experience what it was like to be eaten alive.

Seeing the fear in everyone's eyes made Aiden smile. "As you grow up and are sent to the front lines, you will thank me. What I am doing now is just getting you ready for an even worse future."

Aiden looked across the group of students, and his eyes landed on the blue-haired girl who had just arrived after being healed. "Your first. Get into the battle zone."

The blue-haired girl was confused since she had just arrived and did not hear what Aiden had said. She could only do as she was told. Fate's heart felt warm since she could tell Aiden was targeting the girl for her. But when Aiden's eyes landed on Fate, she quickly turned her head away, blushing after she remembered how she had pounced on him earlier.

The blue-haired girl stood in the battle area waiting for instructions from Aiden when a slither suddenly appeared in front of her causing her to shout out in fright and quickly run away only to slam into the battle area's barrier wall. Aiden sneered as he yelled: "What the fuck are you doing? Do you think running will save you when you are fighting a monster!? Monsters will always have more stamina than you and will chase their targets until either you or they are dead."

"Ahh! No!" The blue-haired girl was scared out of her wits. Even during their first leveling outing after getting rid of Fate, she was always on the backline firing spells from a safe distance. But now she was face to face with a slither whose slimy body and foul stenched breath was with her in such a small area, she panicked and forgot she could even use her ability. In no time at all, the slither had already pounced on her and bit one of her legs clean off. The blue-haired girl fainted as she watched her leg get chewed up and swallowed by the slither. The other students watched in horror as the blue-haired girl became the slither's meal right in front of them. The way the battle arena worked was that unless your heart or brain activity slowed to almost a stop, it would not eject you out of the battle area. When it did, a powerful healing ability circle would be used to heal your wounds and regenerate any missing limbs, even your head.

Although this kind of training could cause trauma, in this new age where strength was everything, if you let something like a near-death experience get to you, you would just be considered a waste. Aiden watched as the blue-haired girl was ejected out of the battle area and shook his head. "This is what happens when you think too highly of yourself. Just because your ability is a back-line ability does not mean you do not need to learn to fight on the front lines. Fate go in and kill the slither for us and then the next monster."

Fate nodded her head and walked towards the battle area without much expression on her face. There were a few people that sneered and quietly commented within the group of students, but none dared to say anything out loud. Fate did not pay any attention to this as she walked past the barrier and flicked her hand, creating a large fireball to form within it. The slither grew excited seeing another meal coming its way and eagerly charged at her. Fate, on the other hand, was calm as can be. Because as soon as the slither met her eyes and saw the faint red glow within it, it instinctively halted its steps and began backing away.

"Mr. Moore, what is going on? Why does the slither seem scared of Fate?" One girl asked as she noticed something was off.

"That is because of Fate's aura." Aiden answered, completely spewing bullshit out of his mouth to the girl. He also did not know why the slither seemed to fear Fate. he could only think of it as a natural instinct of when the prey meets its predator and knows it has no chance to fight. "You see, when you have a certain aura about you, sometimes monsters will see you as a threat big enough to not wish to fight with you."

"So you are saying the slither is scared of Fate?" The girl asked. The look she gave Fate was much different. Her thoughts were on the next leveling outing they were going to be going on. If they could get Fate to join their team, that would mean they could easily level up without much danger with Fate around.

"You could say that. As you can see, Fate's calm demeanor compared to the trash sitting over there shivering in fear are like night and day. A calm demeanor will make the slither feel a sense of caution. Whereas fear will excite the monster, even more, making them even more bloodthirsty. So I would suggest to always push your fear down as much as possible and never let it out when facing a monster, or well, you saw what happened to that trash." Aiden kept calling the blue-haired girl trash over and over, causing her to tear up and start crying. Even as the blue-haired girl cried, Aiden ignored her, not caring.

Fate walked step by step towards the slither, and with each step she took the slither took a step back. Fate sneered and charged at the slither, jumping up into the air while at the same time causing her fireball to become bigger. She quickly fired it off, sending it flying at the slither. A loud explosion was heard, and a painful roar came from the slithers mouth as it fell to the side. The smell of burnt flesh and blood filled the battle area. The slither laid on the ground, barely alive. Fate walked over and raised her foot and stomped down onto the slither's head, causing a loud cracking sound that made all the other students cringe as the brains and juices inside its head flowed out and onto the ground. With its head crushed, the body no longer showed any signs of life.

"Very good! " Aiden clapped, praising Fate. Fate looked over at him and rolled her eyes. He knew she could easily kill slithers, so why was he suddenly acting like she made a great achievement? "Now the next one. It should be good practice. Remember keep moving"

Fate nodded and knew the next monster was not going to be easy to deal with. And sure enough, the thing that was created next was nothing like a slither. What stood before her was something that would make most people shiver in fear, even if it was a smaller version of itself. It had eight legs and eight eyes. Two large fangs dripping with green fluid and a roundish body. It was a level 3 monster, a terac spider.
