Chapter 18 - Hunting Part One

Jessica's eyes lit up as she rushed over to Fate, half-dressed, and exposed her neck to her. "Master, are you hungry!? Please, you can use me at any time!"

Fate was startled by how excited Jessica was to have her suck her blood and started to feel a little guilty since she had not meant that at all. "No, how could I be hungry after not only feasting on you but as well as Kacey? I was just wondering since I don't know much about my race or having servants. You should finish getting dressed. I need to look into something real quick. But before that, let me ask you another question. Why do you want me to suck your blood so badly?"

"Hehe, Master, may not know, but for a servant to act as a blood bank for their master is the greatest privilege. Us servants belong to their master body and soul. We are yours to do as you wish with. Even if you asked us to kill ourselves, we would do it with a smile. Because serving our master is what allows us to feel fulfilled. It gives our lives meaning." Jessica answered honestly.

"But won't you be weakened if I sucked your blood all the time?" Fate knew she would need to drink blood every few days. She also wanted to start carrying small containers of blood around with her just in case. But one thing she did not want to do was have her servant suffering due to her need to eat.

"This is fine, Master. Although I will be slightly weakened, I can always go out and feed off some of the cattle that roam around." Jessica replied with a smile.

"Cattle?" Fate thought for a moment. She had remembered hearing this word before. It was a species of animal that the early humans used to raise to eat. It was then that it dawned on Fate about what Jessica meant. "You're talking about humans?"

"Mmm… Humans are nothing but our food. I can smell their blood from even here. Although I can replenish the blood inside me by drinking their blood. I still need Master's blood once a month in order to stay alive. No matter how much of those humans' blood I drink, I will die within a month without drinking master's blood. Your blood will automatically fuse into our bodies, keeping them strong. The stronger Master is, the stronger our bodies will become. Our growth is fully linked with yours. So feel free to drink my blood any time. Even if it is just for a snack." Jessica explained as she finished getting dressed.

"I see. This will work out well then. From now on, you will be my personal blood bank. None of us needs to eat food, so we can begin using the fridge to store blood as well. Let me think more about how we will go about this. For now, just help tidy my room up a bit, and this pile of clothes here you can take out to the dumpster. I need to look through my system window." Fate felt a little more relieved now that she had an easy way to get blood without needing to hunt for it. But this did not mean she did not need to go out and get more blood. If Jessica was going to need blood every time she drank some of her blood, then they would need to keep a supply on hand. Not to mention she would need to take some to school with her as well, and she could not take Jessica with her either.

"Yes, Master." Jessica went right to work doing the task assigned to her.

Fate sat on the floor, opened up her status menu, and clicked the question mark icon next to [Number Of Servants]: 2/3.

[Servants]

[Servants are loyal followers that you have turned. In order to keep your servants alive, they must be fed your blood once a month. The higher your Mind stat is, the more servants you can hold.]

When Fate read the thing about the [Mind] stat needing to be raised for more servants, she frowned. 'Doesn't this mean basically everything good requires me to raise that one stat that makes my {Charm} passive stronger? Won't I be asking for a bunch of perverts to come chasing after me?'

Letting out a sigh, Fate tapped Jessica's name and looked at the stats there. "She has all my skills except the passives and half of all my stats. Her race is like mine, a vampire, but her evolution type is low ranked servant… Well, at least I know she is strong. There is even a timer to show how long before she needs to drink my blood, very convenient. Oh? There is a note that tells me how much of her blood will fill my [Hunger]. Every second drinking fills 10 [Hunger]. So almost two minutes of drinking blood to fill my [Hunger] stat. This is not bad. And next to this is a meter for how much blood she has left. I guess I should test this out. I do not want to drink too much and accidentally kill my servant."

Fate got up and walked over to Jessica, who was still cleaning the room. "Master?" Fate didn't answer her. She just brushed Jessica's hair aside and buried her fangs into her neck. Jessica let out a soft moan and smiled happily. Her master was drinking her blood! Fate drank her blood until her [Hunger] went back up. When it hit 100 again, Fate licked the excess blood off Jessica's neck before licking her lips and checking the status screen again. "Let's see, my [Hunger] was at 99, and that took one percent of Jessica's total blood… "

Fate let out a sigh. Jessica, who was still in her arms, was blushing. "Master..."

"Hmmm? Ahh, sorry, let me heal your neck. I was just checking something. We will need to begin storing blood. If I were to feed on you every day, you would end up dead before the end of the week without replenishing it. It would also be best for me to drink from other sources as well. If I fall into a hunger frenzy, I may end up killing you by accident, and that is the last thing I want to happen. " Fate could not bring herself to harm the girl in front of her who looked at her with such sincere eyes.

"Master is truly kind. But remember Master, if me dying can help Master, I will gladly do it." Fate could only sigh, seeing the unwavering look in Jessica's eyes as she spoke. 'So this is what it means to have servants. Although I turned this girl to test my powers, I still do not wish for her to die for me.'

Fate fell into thought for a minute before deciding it was time to go out and hunt. She would not attack people she knew were good, but this would not stop her from taking the blood of those who are bad. It would also help clean up the slums as well. This was killing two birds with one stone. "Jessica, come with me. We will be going out."

"Yes, Master." Jessica's eyes glowed red. She could feel a slight killing intent coming off her master. She knew they were going out to hunt.

Fate left her room with Jessica in tow. Kacey was busy at work cleaning the house. "Kacey, clean out the fridge as well. We will need it to store blood. Also, are there any containers in the house?"

"Yes, one second Ma… Fate, I will bring you the ones I have already prepared. I had a feeling you would be needing them." Kacey replied.

Fate was surprised to hear how efficient Kacey was. Not only that, but so far, the house looked almost brand new, and it had only been a short time since she started cleaning. She thought back to how she had been treated this entire time and wanted to ask Kacey if she was really her mother or not, but the words got caught in her throat. 'I will ask later.' The answer somewhat scared her.

"Here you go. I put all the containers we have on hand into this backpack. Most are just simple tupperwares, but there are a few thermoses in there as well. I also found ten flasks. They all had alcohol in them, so I poured them down the drain and washed them out." Kacey explained as she handed the bag over to Fate.

"Thanks. We will all sit down for a chat when I get back." Fate smiled faintly and took the bag. Fate and Jessica then left the house.

The night in the slums was filled with neon lights, and many people were walking about. Hookers stood on the street corners, taking their customers into the back allies. There were no police here; everything was run by the gangs. Even during the day, things did not differ much except being exposed to many unsightly things that would otherwise be hidden in the dark at night.

The air stank and trash littered the streets. One would think that as normal humans, an inferior race, they would at least try to make their home a clean and safe place. But the reality was what was in front of you. A dirty place filled with sex, drugs, and violence. Although normal humans could get things like cybernetics which could make them slightly stronger, they were expensive and still would not make a normal human a match for a level 20. Fate, for the first time, walked around without having messy, dirty clothes. As she walked by, people would turn and stare in her direction.

It was only a matter of time before two teen girls were stopped. And in front of Fate and Jessica stood two men. Both with decent builds and shaved heads, except the man on the right had a huge scar that ran across his face. "Hey, hey, look, if isn't the little slut we r*ped just last night? To think she would be so pretty after getting all cleaned up and wearing good clothes. Did you find yourself a nice master who treats you well? How about you and your friend come with us in the alley over there? We will make you both feel real good."
