My day at the hospital felt like it dragged on. I used to get intense satisfaction from doing surgery and helping people, but things have changed. I'm not sure at what point my focus shifted from medicine to Kynlee, but anytime I wasn't actively engaged in something, my mind wandered. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a caretaker at heart, but fixing strangers is no longer my first thought when I wake up and last thought before going to sleep.
"Dr. Teton, did you hear me," my scrub nurse Jenna asked. I shook my head. She smiled before saying, "your next surgery is ready to go. The anesthesiologist is about to put him under if you're ready to go."
"Yes, I'll be there shortly. Thank you Jenna." Jenna nodded, smiled, and walked back to the surgical suite. Man Wam, I thought to myself, get your head out of your butt!
I finished scrubbing and was assisted in donning my gown, then my sterile gloves. By the time I was ready, my patient that I talked to before my lunch, was already anesthetized and prepared for our surgical time out. We double checked we had the correct patient and the correct procedure before we began.
Three hours later, I was finished with my surgeries for the day and back in Halian's room with Mom and Mona. Hal had one more petite mal seizure since yesterday, but no clonic tonic seizures, so that was good. We had restarted the lorazepam and were titrating Keppra to help control the seizures long term. The on-call Neurologist from last night was unhappy I had visited Hal during the night in his absence, but agreed the Keppra was a good choice for his seizures. We agreed we would put Hal back under tomorrow to remove the electrodes and replace the piece of his skull we had removed to decrease the intracranial pressure from the initial injury. Wanda had said, "yeah Wam. I trust you. Do what you need to do."
So Hal was now first on my surgical schedule for tomorrow so I could make sure he woke up okay before I left for the day. I wasn't afraid of Hal's operation, but I was nervous simply because he means so much to me. Again though, I was not about to place his life in anyone else's hands.
I gave hugs and kisses on the cheek to Mom, Mona, and Hal before I headed for home. It was a gorgeous fall day, and I chose to run at home instead of in the gym.
The drive home went quickly, and I was taken aback by the sheer beauty of the fall colors on the county road to my house. Fall was my favorite season because of all the fresh fruits and vegetables available and the beautiful scenery that could be seen all across Minnesota this time of year. The leaves ranged from green to yellow to orange to red. The bluffs were the perfect back drop for the various colors and the eagles could be seen returning from up north. Contrary to popular belief, eagles prefer cooler temperatures and the vast majority of them flew North for the summer. This is the same as most animals that migrate South to the warmer temperatures in the winter, but eagles do not fly nearly as far South. The frozen Mississippi River is the perfect winter hunting ground for them.
As the deer neared the rutting season, they became more active in the late afternoon and evening hours. The babies born in the spring were no longer small. Hopefully they would make it through their first hunting season.
I fed Sammy, changed my clothes, and headed out for some exercise and Vitamin D. As I rounded the corner of the road on my run, a truck pulled up along side me and put his window down. A deep voice yelled, "Dr. Teton, how are Hal and Wanda doing?"
I turned with a smile and neared the open window. "Hey Joseph, they need time to heal...but I hope... they'll be okay. Thanks for asking...How are you...and the missus?" I was out of breath from my run but enjoyed catching up with my neighbors. Helen, my housekeeper here in Red Wing was practically family, and in my book, that made her husband Joseph, family as well.
Joseph waved his hand like it was no big deal, "we are still kicking. Helen still enjoys cleaning your house two days a week, and the extra cash never hurts on a fixed income. My back just isn't what it used to be, so I'm grateful she can work a few hours. Thank you Doc!"
I was starting to catch my breath as we talked, "oh, Helen is a God send to me. I'm the lucky one. As much as I work, I'd never have a clean house or clean clothes."
"Okay, well I just wanted to say hi. I'll let you get back to your run. If I don't see you, have a Happy Halloween!" Joseph said and waved as he drove off.
I waved and then continued on my run. Thirty minutes later I was home, peeling off my sweaty workout clothes. After a good workout, I liked to take a tepid shower to help cool me off. I scrubbed my hair before working from head to toe, finishing with my genitals.
I had run long enough to still my mind, but as I washed up, my mind began to imagine Kynlee's hands running over my body. I rinsed my hair and back before turning around, then ran my hands over my front to rinse the body gel off. As I stroked myself to rinse the soap, my manly member became hard as a rock. One hand stroked under my sac and felt so good I couldn't help but moan, "mmm, bloody hell!"
My other hand continued to stroke the hardness jutting out from beneath my hips. "Yes Lee, just like that," I continued to stroke. I tightened my fist as I imagined her mouth on me again, and sped up my strokes, "suck harder baby girl. That's it...oh I'm gonna..." and just that easily, my imagination was enough to empty my seed all over the shower wall again.
I so hoped Kedron would be moving to a rehabilitation facility soon, because I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to stay away from Kynlee. I'm not a man who takes advantage of others in precarious situations, but this woman has me wound so tight... something has to give soon!
I rinse out the shower so Helen doesn't find evidence of me finding my pleasure in the shower, and step out to dry off. I don sweatpants and a tee shirt before padding out to the kitchen to find myself some food. Lucky for me, there is plenty of Chinese food left from last night, and I warm myself a plate before sitting at the table. Per my usual after workout routine, I drink two full bottles of water with my meal. I place my dishes in the dishwasher and take my laptop to the living room to watch the evening news.
Within minutes of settling on the couch, I hear, "purrrt," and Sammy jumps up next to me.
"Hello Sammy. How are you pretty girl," I ask with a smile and a scratch to her head and under her chin.
Sammy answers with a "meow," and loud purring. Sammy lays down on the couch, so close she is pressed up against my thigh. As I sort through my emails, I absentmindedly continue to pet Sammy intermittently. This was our normal routine during the week, but after having Kynlee here last night, it feels so quiet tonight. I continue to read and delete until I come across an email that says, 'Board Meeting Items," and open that message. The interior of the message was the usual issues:
1- Occupancy
2- Finances
3- Staff Training
4- Emergency Department Response Time
5- Fratenization
Interesting... I wonder which staff members were caught this time? The list went on with nothing of interest until I got to the last item on the list:
25- VIP Parking Passes
Immediately I knew where this was coming from and could not bite back my growl, "that bitch!"
It was pretty clear to me that Dr. Adams was attempting to cause issues over Kynlee using my car and parking in the VIP Parking section of the parking garage. This woman was relentless!
I must have stopped petting Sammy in my anger, because she climbed on my lap between me and my laptop screen. "Yes Sammy, you are my priority. I'm sorry I got sidetracked." I shut my laptop, shut off the lights, locked the doors, and headed into the bedroom with Sammy following. I brushed my teeth, used the facilities, stripped naked, and climbed in between the covers. I took a deep breath and was hit with the remnants of Kynlee's scent in my bed. I pulled the pillow to my face and took a long inhale. Oh I love that smell. My phone vibrated, telling me I had a new message from 'Kynlee'.
Kynlee: Good evening Wam. Did you get my note? How was your day?
Of course I answered immediately.
Dr. Wam Teton: I liked your note. Thank you. I'm sure Sammy liked the treats as well. (Laughing emoji) My day was okay. How was your day?
Kynlee: Well, Kedron didn't kick me out (smile emoji). So that's a step in the right direction.
Kynlee: Supposedly they discussed a Rehab Facility today. Kedron told me again he wants me to live my life and not be tied down to him. I was able to get him to agree we would discuss it later after he is moved to rehab.
Dr. Wam Teton: Are they doing a fusion surgery prior to moving him?
Wam saw the dots blinking, meaning Kynlee was typing a response.
Kynlee: I'm not sure. K didn't mention it, and I'd forgotten we discussed it when he was in a coma. I'll have to ask him tomorrow I guess.
Dr. Wam Teton: You don't have to ask if things are going well. I don't want to stir the pot so to speak. I worry about the instability in his cervical spine.
Kynlee: It's a valid concern. I'm glad you mentioned it. I hope Sammy is keeping you company.
Dr. Wam Teton: Of course, Sammy is laying in my bed by my side.
Kynlee: I'm so sorry, if you're in bed, I'll let you go.
Dr. Wam Teton: It's okay. I wasn't sleeping yet. Did Dr. Adams approach you again?
Several minutes went by without an answer. That was all the answer I needed, so I decided to clarify.
Dr. Wam Teton: What'd she say Lee?
Dots blinked on the screen...
Kynlee: She told me again I shouldn't be parking in the VIP section because I'm not a VIP. I simply told her if she had an issue to 'take it up with Dr. Teton'.
Dr. Wam Teton: Good. I'll take care of her. I hope you sleep well Lee (hug emoji).
Kynlee: Goodnight Wam. (Kiss emoji).
"Damn it Kelly Adams, this is war," I said angrily as I shut off my lamp, rolled over to sleep, and stroked Sammy's soft fur.
