"We should attack now, while the turtle is eating. I'll distract it, while you attack it from behind and attempt to cut off its tail. That will be what causes us the most problems," Erich said while watching the turtle chow down on some minerals that lined the geysers. Pulling his mace back, Erich lept into the air and appeared above the turtle's head.
"Argh!" He yelled, dropping his mace down on top of the turtle's head, slamming it into the ground with enough force to create cracks in the ground. Dazed, the turtle slowly lifted its head and looked at Erich funnily. Looking at the turtle's head, Sydra noticed that there was no damage done at all.
'Dang, this turtle's defense is on a whole different level than all the previous ones.' Sydra thought as he rushed out from behind the rock and swung the war hammer towards the turtle's tail in an upward motion. With his lightning aura increasing his speed, Sydra was able to hit the tail hard enough that it slammed into the turtle's back.
'Clang' The sound of the tail hitting the shells on the turtle's back created a sound that resembled a person hitting two metal sticks together. The sound was so loud that vibration could be seen in the air surrounding the turtle and causing Sydra to cover his ears.
'Better not do that again, it only served to hinder me and did nothing to the turtle.' Sydra thought, drawing back a few feet as the turtle turned to look at him. It seemed as the turtle saw the two of them as nothing more than a nuisance, and wasn't worried about them at all. Swinging its tail back down and slamming it into the ground, the turtle caused waves of flame to shoot out towards Sydra.
"Jump over them!" Erich shouted as he slammed his mace into the underside of the turtle's head. Taking his advice, Sydra filled his legs with his lightning aura and ran towards the large rock behind him. Gaining enough momentum to run up the rock, Sydra flashed up into the air while using the rock as a launching point. Spinning backward in the air, he watched as the waves of flame collided with the rock he had used and melted it into magma. If he hadn't been wearing the backpack to regulate his temperature, Sydra could have ended up receiving third-degree burns from the heat radiating out of the flames themselves.
"These flames are incredibly hot, try not to get hit by them!" Sydra warned Erich as he landed back on solid ground. He had to land quite far away because the ground was melted down to nothing just like the rock had been.
Seeing that its attack had not taken out the annoying little pest, the turtle stomped its feet on the ground and started to light up the spikes on its back. As each spike lit up the temperature around the turtle spiked up incredibly. This increase in heat forced Erich to fall back so he wouldn't be harmed.
"I'm not sure what we can do here, if we can't get close to the turtle then there is no way we can harm it," Erich said as he rushed to Sydra's side to come up with a new plan.
Don't worry, I have something that can fix that," Sydra said, pulling the dragon staff out of the Arbor Sanctum and slamming it into the ground. As the dragon's head on the staff faced the sky, the blue crystal in its mouth began to pulse. With each pulse, ice would cover the ground before being melted by the heat radiating off the turtle. Seeing it was not enough, Sydra started pouring more aura into the staff to increase the power of the ice pulse. As the pulses became more potent the temperature in the surroundings slowly fell back down.
"How long can you keep the temperature at this level?" Erich asked, feeling that he could now enter the perimeter around the turtle without taking too much damage.
"The aura will run out in three minutes, do you have a plan to flip the turtle over so we can get to the stomach?" Sydra asked as he gauged the aura left in the staff. Looking back at the turtle, it seemed to have noticed that the temperature was falling back down and was preparing another attack. If the attack was aimed towards Sydra then he would have to remove the staff from the ground and flee, causing the temperature to rise back up.
"I have a plan, but if it doesn't work then we will have to retreat. Try to hold out for as long as possible," Erich said, sprinting back to the turtle to not waste any more time. When the turtle noticed him it swung its tail in an arc through the air and sent out a fire blade. As it headed straight for Erich's chest he dropped to the ground and slid underneath the blade allowing it to hit another rock. The fire blade had been so sharp and hot that it sliced through the rock like it was a piece of cheese.
"Kinetic Reversal!" Erich yelled as he jumped up from the ground and swung his mace towards the turtle's underbelly, hitting it from the side. As the mace connected with the turtle a large amount of force was expelled from it, causing the turtle to flip into the air. While the turtle was still spinning in the air, Erich jumped up into the air with it and blasted the turtle's stomach with his mace once more. He had done this while the turtles back were facing the ground, so when the mace slammed into the stomach the turtle was fired into the ground creating a small crater.
"We got it now!" Sydra yelled, as he pulled the staff out of the ground and sent it back into his Arbor Sanctum. With the war hammer in his hands, he dashed to the turtle's head to finish it off.
"Wait, stay back!" Erich shouted, noticing all the heat being sucked into the turtle, but it was too late. Transforming all the heat into fire aura, the turtle redirected it into its tail and whipped it into the ground. This created a small-scale explosion that propelled the turtle back into the air as Sydra and Erich were shot back by the force. Landing on the ground, they bounced a few times before rolling to a stop.
"Well my bones are broken, how do you feel?" Sydra asked, trying to look over at Erich. He had been closer to the explosion, and as such was more badly damaged. Erich had an arm completely missing, and his back was twisted in a weird way as he laid on top of a small rock.
"Cough' I don't think I'm going to make it. If I had time to heal I could easily come back from this, but I don't think that turtle will give us the time of day to do so," Erich said as blood leaked out of his mouth and watched the turtle charging at them.
"I'll save you!" Sydra yelled as he sped his regeneration to speed up so he could crawl his way over to Erich. As he reached him, Sydra tried to get up to his feet and put Erich on his back. He was the reason Erich was in this mess, and he would get him out of it.
"Leave me, if you can get out of here, then go!" Erich yelled, trying to get off Sydra's back, but this only led to Sydra tripping and falling to the ground with Erich on his back.
"Hmm, killed by a turtle. What a sad way to go." Sydra muttered, as he closed his eyes and waited for the turtle to kill them.
'Boom!' A loud explosion was heard detonating, convincing Sydra to open his eyes to face death head-on. When he looked back at the spot where the turtle had been, he was surprised to see nothing there. That is when a shadow covered the sky, and looking up he saw the turtle flying mid-air with an elf standing on top of its back. In the elf's hand was a long, black spear that he was pulling out of the turtle's head. It seemed that the elf had pierced the turtle's head with his spear and threw the turtle up into the air, before jumping onto its back while it was still air-born.
"Die, demon turtle!" The elf yelled as he ripped his spear from the turtle's head and pierced it through its heart. This instantly killed the turtle and the elf hopped off it, landing lightly next to Sydra and Erich. "Are the two of you okay?" He asked as the turtle landed loudly on the ground behind him with the spear still in its heart.
"My hero..." Sydra said, as he felt a tear run down his face while he looked at the handsome elf in light green armor in front of him. 'Now this guy is a real hero.' Sydra thought as he passed out from the stress of over working his aura to try and heal himself and Erich.
