Chapter 24 - Dragon Egg's Change

"Thanks for dinner." Sydra said as he cleans his plate in the sink. Dinner had been less awkward than he thought it would be, and he got to know the sister better. They were both around the same age as him, and had been taking care of themselves for the past few years. As the towns only blacksmith, Echo was able to bring in a large sum of gold for the two of them, and Philo worked the mornings in a café type place in the town. The rest of the day she would either be hanging out with her friends or would be maintaining the house.

"Are you going to bed right away?" Philo asks, drying the dish Sydra just handed to her, before handing it to Echo to put away.

"Not yet, I need to put some things away in my new house." Sydra says, as he empties out the strainer in a trash can.

"Haha, if you had a house why would you be staying the night here?" Philo asks, thinking Sydra is just joking around with her.

"Would the two of you like to see something amazing?" Sydra asks as he puts the strainer back in the sink and dries his hands on the towel Echo handed him.

"What do you want to show us?" Echo asks, taking the towel back from Sydra and hanging it up to dry.

"My house, of course." Sydra says as he touches each of the girls hands and sends them to his Arbor Sanctum. Once they are both gone, Sydra heads to the living room and sits down on the couch next to the fireplace. Entering his Arbor Sanctum, he sees Philo running around the island and looking at all the items Sydra had yet to put away. Floating down next to Echo, Sydra lands on the grassy island and looks up to the sky above. It is already night time and the two moons are shining brightly down on the island lighting it up.

"So what do you think? Pretty cool, right," Sydra says, gazing at the moons with Echo.

"It is so beautiful here. Where are we, what is this place?" Echo asks, as Philo runs over and jumps through Sydra's apparition.

"This is my Arbor Sanctum, also the place where my tree is. I can't come here with my physical body just yet, because I need an anchor to get back to my original place on Phisloke. Soon, though, I will be able to travel back and forth without worry. Anyway, do you two mind helping me set up the inside of my palace. I bought some things today, but I have yet to put them inside." Sydra says as he points to the large pile of beds, washers , and showers, among other things.

"Where is this palace you speak of?" Philo says, not seeing the supposed palace since it was hidden behind a waterfall a mile up a mountain.

"It is right up there, behind the waterfall. Don't worry I'll move the items to the palace by myself. I only need your help in decorating my palace." Sydra said as he moved over to tree and placed his hand on it. Controlling the roots, Sydra picked up all the items and moved them into the palace, then he created steps that went up to the palace. Lastly he had echo add some runes to the stone steps to create a type of moving elevator, but it looked much cooler.

"Wow, this is really handy. How did you come up with the idea to add ruins to the ground to make these moving steps?" Philo asked, as they rode the steps up the mountain to the palace. The steps would move in whichever way a person needed them too, and if two people were going opposite directions on the step they would simply meet in the middle before passing each other.

"Eh, you know... I just have a creative mind that came up with it when I saw the long walk up the mountain." Sydra said, pulling something out of a hat. He couldn't go and say that he was from another world that had these and he just stole the idea from them.

At the top of the steps, Sydra and the girls went under the arch made from Golden Firescales and looked at the white palace. The waterfall that was parted by the arch would then collect in a pond and be filtered into the house to be used with the indoor plumbing. Sydra had all the toilets lead to an incinerator in the bottom of the mountain that collected heat from the sun during the day. Then the gasses from the burnt waste would be purified by the tree and used to power things around the island once Sydra built them.

Crossing a bridge that went over the pond, Sydra led Echo and Philo into the palace and for the next few hours they decorated it. Sydra had a few things left over from the ruins, and he would try to collect more things from future ruins as well to fill up the entire palace with items from his travels. Once they were done, Sydra brought everyone back out of the Arbor Sanctum to pick up bathing suits and going swimming in the pond.

"It looks a bit more cozy now, not all white and bland. I really like how you set up some mirrors around the pond to reflect the moonlight inside." Echo said as she dangled her feet in the water.

"How did you get the pond water to be heated? We don't have anything like this in the town, as most of the runes we use can't affect such a wide space as this?" Philo asked, doing the backstroke in the pond.

"That was simple, I just placed the incinerator deep underneath the pond and the heat it produces warms the entire pond to some degree. I don't know much about runes, which is why I had Echo enchant the water pipes inside the palace, but I do know something about positioning things so they work better." Sydra explained, as he sat next to the pond in a smaller pond that was emitting steam. It worked as a hot tub since Sydra had moved less of the ground between the incinerator and the smaller pond to create this effect.

"Your pretty smart, you should date my sister." Philo said trying to get them together once more, as she climbed out of the pond and dried herself off.

"I don't think me constantly being out on adventures would be very nice to your sister if I was to date her. She deserves a man who will there more often, not me." Sydra said, trying to refuse but in a nice manner. Echo looked slightly disappointed in the answer, but she wasn't overly worried about it. Her and Sydra could stay friends and she would be happy with just that.

"Hmm, do you plan on going somewhere soon?" Philo asked, as she covered her hair with a towel, which looked kind of funny.

"Yeah, for the next year I'll be traveling with Robert, Erich, and Cidre through the Emerald Sea Forest to try and find more ruins. After a year is up, I will come back here and then set out again to explore the rest of the world." Sydra said, getting out of the hot pond and putting his clothes back on as well. "Are you guys ready to go back now?" he asked walking over to the two lovely ladies.

"Yeah, were ready. How do we get back?" Echo said getting up and walking over to Sydra.

"Oh, I'll just send you back the way I brought you here. I still need to do something up here, so I'll be an extra few minutes." Sydra said as he sent the two girls back. Once they were gone, Sydra headed over to the tree and called the roots to bring the dragon egg to him.

"What is this?" Sydra asked as he looked at the dragon egg. While it used to be icy blue, now it was three different colors. The bottom was dark brown and green, and it looked like roots were climbing up the egg, before they reached the middle where it was still icy blue. The top was cloudy and there seemed to be wind swirling the clouds around on it. "It looks like the environment the egg is in is affecting the growth of the baby dragon and this is causing it to evolve into a three element dragon. Although it won't be as powerful with it's ice attacks as a full ice dragon, the different powers it will wield will make it just as powerful, if not more so. Haha, this is very interesting." Sydra said aloud as he sent the dragon egg back to its hiding place. He didn't want anyone to find out about it until he had seen if he could tame the dragon or not. If not, then he would have to let the dragon go free into the wild.
