Chapter 6 - The tomb

-Gwyn's point of view-

I woke up in what looked like an empty void it was completely black except for some white smoke floating around.

I tried to ask myself where I was but I couldn't speak so, I just got up and started to walk around, then I heard it.

[oh? You're finally awake?] it was a horrible voice, like nails on a chalkboard, I tried asking who was there but once again nothing came out.

[oh? Can't speak?] it laughed a terrible laugh, [lets change that] as soon as it said that I could speak again.

I asked my questions "where am I and who are you?" [hoh? You don't even know who I am? Truly I'm insulted, I've been with you since day one. Well, asleep that is] the voice replied, I couldn't see it but I knew it was smirking at me.

"day one? What are you talking about? how did you bring me here?" I kept firing off questions [bring you here? Oh no I didn't bring you here, you brought yourself here. You woke me up as well] the voice replied.

"what? I never did that, I'm pretty sure I would remember doing that and I never did!" I yelled back, suddenly everything started to shake like an earthquake was happening.

The voice started speaking [it seems we are out of time but remember this,] the voice stopped before starting again [I art thou, thou art I.] as soon as he finished saying that I woke up in the tent once again but this time I was tied down,

"what's going on? Why am I tied down?" I tried to break free but then Teacher walked in "kid, that's you…right?" he asked hesitantly, I asked back "what do you mean? Of course, I'm me, why are you asking?" Teacher sighed "are you saying you don't remember?" I started to yell "remember what!? Last thing I remember is getting ready to train then…" I had remembered what happened in the black void "it…it went blank." Teacher sighed even heavier than last time "well if you don't remember then it's not important." He had finally let me loose, I got up then he threw me a dagger "go find a stream with clean drinking water. Whatever you do, don't get caught by a beast." I nodded and was about to leave then I thought of a random thought "why is this mountain named Dragon's den?" I asked Teacher "it's said in ancient history this mountain was the nesting ground of hundreds of dragons but the first Emperor came and was said to have slain all the dragons, sadly his name was lost with time so we only know him as Dragonslayer." I found it quite interesting. "Wow to think our emperor is his descendant." I said "he isn't" Teacher quickly said, I was confused "what do you mean?" I asked, "the current emperor isn't the Dragonslayers descendant, it was said he never had an heir to the throne, heh, hell nobody even knows his real name, he was just known as Dragonslayer." Teacher replied, I nodded thinking it was quite interesting then I set off to find some water.

------------------

I had been walking for about thirty minutes without finding any sort of stream, but when I was just about to give up I heard it, water. I rushed towards the sound. Looking around, I couldn't see it but I could still hear it. I noticed a small cave, upon entering, I searched the cave for the stream. As I did, I noticed how nice the cave looked; it almost looked man-made. As I continued further in my suspicions were confirmed, there was a ten-foot-high door covered in moss that I almost couldn't see. 'What is this doing here?' I thought to myself. I tried pushing it open but it wouldn't budge. I decided to try and force it open when I slipped and cut my hand. I looked down at my wound, it wasn't exactly bleeding a lot, but it was annoying. I was about to turn around when I heard a voice, a voice so deep, demonic and cynical, I never wanted to hear it again: [touch the door].

I hesitated for a moment before placing both of my palms against the door. The moment my hands touched the door it opened quite easily, I stumbled back in shock, seeing as not thirty seconds ago I was pushing against the door with all my might and it wouldn't budge, but now it flew open at a simple touch. [Enter]. The voice rang out inside of my head. I did as it had instructed. I entered through the doorway, inside there was a long and dark hallway. I took my first step and torches mounted on the walls lit up in unison. It freaked me out, nevertheless, I proceeded down the hall with my dagger drawn, ready to stab or slash anything that might jump out at me.

I had been walking for about ten minutes before I came to a fork in the path. I looked down both paths before going left when the voice said: [Go right]. Once again I listened, choosing instead the right fork. The path led to a large chamber with something at the back wall that I couldn't quite make out, I was Mesmerized by it and felt the urge to move closer. When I moved to get a better look, I realized that it was a coffin with some writing on the wall next to it in a language I didn't recognize, yet somehow I understood some words. It read as follows:

-Het nokke Zun, faal saviik do mun wo fen wundun unknown, nunon remembered naal faal Rahhe ahrk faal dovahhe. Mu faal dovahhe fen bless daar qoth ful none vobalaan ziistmaas enter.-

'What language is that?' I thought to myself. The voice answered. [Dragon tongue]. When I heard that, I went stiff. 'Dragon tongue? You mean the language of the extinct dragons?' [Thought to be extinct] the voice replied. 'Are you saying they're still alive?' The voice didn't answer. Suddenly my head started to feel immense pain as if something was drilling into my brain, and I fell unconscious. When I awoke the voice spoke again. [I filled in the rest, you will now understand.] I was confused. 'Why did I fall unconscious? What was the pain from? Understand what?' Then I looked back at the wall and I could understand it perfectly. What it said was:

-Here lies Zun, the saviour of man who will go unknown, only remembered by the gods and the dragons. We the dragons will bless this tomb so none unworthy may enter.-

I read it over and over again, confused. 'Why can I understand it now?' Then I remembered, the pain; was it the knowledge of the language being drilled into my head? I asked the voice. It didn't reply. Annoyed, I turned my attention towards the coffin. 'Who is this Zun? How did he save man? Why wouldn't anyone remember him?' I thought this while running my injured hand on the cold, black coffin. As I did, my blood ran into the engravings of the coffin as though my blood and the coffin were two pieces of a puzzle. When my blood filled the engravings, the coffin burst open. I looked inside. There was a mummified body laying on its back, clutching a sword to its chest. Suddenly my head hurt and the voice spoke. [Take it, take it now!]

'No, I'm not a grave robber,' I replied. The voice yelled back. [That's our sword now! The wall said that we are worthy so just take it, I want my sword back!] I stopped. 'Your sword?' The voice didn't reply. 'If you don't tell me what you meant I'm not taking it.' […He was my old host and that sword belongs to me so, TAKE. IT.] The voice was getting irritated. I refuted him. 'Even if I take it where will I keep it? It's not like Teacher won't notice.' [I can store it for you, so take it!] 'Wait, you can store it? Where? I don't have any dimensional storage rings and even if I could get the smallest one, the sword is too big.' [I can store it in the 'void' as you call it, it's 100x bigger than any storage ring.] 'Why didn't you tell me before? You know what? I don't care, just put the sword in the storage. I'll check it out later.' As I said that, I reached for the sword and it got sucked into a black mist coming from my hand. 'Now let's leave and find a creek, I can't let Teacher find this.' I left the tomb and went looking for a creek, finding one ten minutes away from the camp. As I walked back to camp, the voice spoke again. [I'll help you learn magic, be grateful.] I laughed. 'Yes, yes, thank you.'
