"What was-"
Tina was interrupted by ray, who covered her mouth with his hand. He then gestured her to be quiet by placing his finger over his mouth
Tina nodded and he let go
They both silently took out the knifes off the backpack. But no gun, Using a gun here would end up killing them. They also had no plans of fighting. They didn't want to cause a commotion which could attract more monsters
With their backpacks on, combat knifes on hand and weapons equipped, they slowly walked towards the kitchen
However due to the wooden floors, the moment they stepped out of the garage, a creak sound resounded with each step they took.
[Shit] Ray thought as he continued to slowly tiptoed to the kitchen
Once they finally reached it, the rustling sounds stopped. As they stood outside the entrance, they looked around but couldn't see anything inside.
That was when ray got the idea of testing something new. He gestured at his sister to wait
[Analyse the area in front of me, look for other living beings] Ray thought
There was no instant reply, but just as ray was about to lose hope. A System message came
Will it really analyse the area or just an object? Ray wasn't sure but he was placing his life on it.
As ray was about to walk in, lines quickly passed through the room and he received a system message
He was nearly jumped up in surprise, and felt his heart drop. He wasn't counting on it to get back to him that fast. Was it because it was his house?
At the same time as Ray saw those messages, a big strangely shaped fat lizard was highlighted moving around in the kitchen walls.
[Show quest] Ray thought
[Of course... It sounds like gila and has the similar ability to camouflage... But it's the monster version so it probably has other abilities. Do I risk it?] Ray thought to himself
Although it was highlighted, he couldn't see the body, it was camouflaged. He could only see an aura shaped like it's body.
"I love this skill" Ray muttered as he walked inside
When ray did, the lizard looking thing stopped moving. It's intelligence must have been high as it seemed to be planning a surprise attack. But those are useless when you know they're coming
Ray was baiting it, he was worried about it's abilities and was keeping his distance, while looking for a moment to throw his knife
Tina walked inside and whispered
"What's going on?"
"Follow my lead..." Ray said with a nervous smile
Ray really wish he'd picked up the bow, but he wouldn't have been able to carry it and his sister.
The monster slowly moved around, ray acted like he couldn't see it but his attention was focused completely on it.
It was only a few feet away from him on the ceiling now, and the moment it got a step closer. Ray through his combat knife at it.
*splat*
It pierced it's back and a blood started to drip out. However it didn't drop down and stayed on the ceiling, but was moving around at crazy speeds, as if it were trying to get the knife off it's back
"Run!" Said Ray as he pointed towards the entrance
Tina did as she said and ran towards the entrance, but ray stayed in the middle of the kitchen. His head was moving around keeping track of the monster.
It was fast but he was confident he'd be able to dodge at least one attack. But he changed his mind, once he noticed that it's blood was slightly burning the floor.
He ran out of the kitchen before the monster could attack him
"It's poisonous... It seems shaken by the sudden attack, but, attacking it a close range is suicide..." Ray muttered as he stood by the door with Tina
As he was about to close the door and trap it in there, tina stopped Ray
"So the problem is range huh? I can't really see it, but I see blood and a knife moving around in the ceiling, is that what it is?" Tina asked
"Huh? Yeah, but if we use a gun we'll end up drawing more attention." Replied Ray
"I see..." Muttered tina
"Damn it... If we want the kitchen back we'll have to deal with it. But getting hit it isn't worth it..."
What should he do? Should he give up? But everything was going perfect so far. Ray was conflicted
The monster was squirming around near the other corner of the room, it still hadn't managed to get the knife out, but it was losing a lot of blood. He could attack it with another throw and wait for it to bleed out, but he wasn't sure how long that would take.
"Ray, do you trust me?" Tina asked
Ray looked towards tina and without any hesitation, He nodded.
"Materialise" Tina muttered
Slowly a bow started to form over her hand. Around 10 seconds later, it was formed. And then an arrow was formed following that
When ray saw that, he was surprised, and that same surprised expression turned into a smile.
"I'll grab you one moment, don't miss." He said as he walked inside
"Of course not" Tina replied as she drew back her bow
Tina did archery back in middle school. And she was exceptionally good, Ray knew she wouldn't miss.
