Chapter 10 - The Truth

Child laughter could be heard as three small children were running through the concrete. The sky was clear and the wind from being at the top of the world felt like a bliss to them. Looking at them being this carefree in an elevated platform without railings seemed dangerous.

"Ela wait up, you're going too fast!"

The youngest could be heard calling out to the oldest and taller sister running ahead of her.

The middle child slowed down and extended her arm to the youngest.

"Here grab my hand Atelia, we can go to mother together."

Atelia grabbed ahold of her sister's gentle hand as they tried to keep up with Ela.

"Thank you, Phila..."

Phila took a glance at Atelia as she gave a big and sweet smile to her younger sister.

Just behind Loreley and Kouki were standing looking at the scene that played before them.

"Kouki, the only thing we can do here is watch. It's not possible to interact. Just wanted to give you the heads up."

Kouki walked forward and looked over the edge down below and stepped back afraid he might fall.

"Where are we?"

He turned to ask her.

"We are in what was once called Haven Sanctuary which was at the top of the sky. Home to the Gods and Goddesses and Angels alike. What was once my home..."

"When you say once does that mean..."

Loreley looked away not wanting to truly answer and remember. That was a clear answer that this place no longer existed in the present.

"Those three are the sisters that are so revered in the current world by everyone. In the history passed down supposedly Atelia granted Knowledge, Phila willpower and Ela Emotion. Though, that is a filthy lie."

Without saying anything Kouki followed Loreley as she walked through the wall-less pathway the sisters went through. Soon arriving to a small rounded building. Around it followed other pathways that led to the rest of the Sanctuary. The sisters could be seen opening the door and heading inside.

"Mommy, mommy!"

"Mother!"

"Mamaaaaaaa"

The three rushed towards a tall looking and beautiful woman with bright orange hair, over her head hovered a magnificent halo. She was sitting in a wooden chair as other children sat around her. A book was in her hand.

"Now, now sweethearts mommy is reading. Why don't you take part and listen as well?"

All three of them look enthusiastic and immediately sat down as they didn't want to bother their mother as she read.

(Is that...Loreley sitting down?)

"Yes, that is me master."

"I forgot you can read my mind..."

Kouki took notice of a young girl that looked to be the same height as Ela. It was Loreley. Wearing the same outfit and sitting down to listen to the woman read the book.

"Who is that?"

Kouki asked about the woman in the chair.

"That's Neulla, Goddess of Agriculture. Also mother of those three idiots."

Neulla read through the pages of the book as it was nearing it's end.

"We are able to maintain our power due to how the humans believe in us. Without them praising and revering us we would most likely be too weak to do anything. As Gods and Goddesses that rule over this world we must have the people on our side. This is why the world has had it's peace for millions of years."

Kouki took notice of how Loreley was agitated.

"If only she had not said that, things would have gone differently."

She walked away from the room and headed outisde.

"Here grab my hand, we're moving ahead of time slightly."

Once Kouki grabbed her hand the scenery changed and they were now inside a building which looked like a nursery home. Two figures ahead of the them.

"What should we name her?"

"Hm, how does Adiel sound?"

"That sounds like a wonderful name dear. Adiel it is, welcome to the world Adiel."

The man slightly stroked the infants head.

(Adiel...to think she existed in this time as well. Wait...then how old is she right now?!)

(It's bad to ask a girl her age you know. Anyways that doesn't matter right now.)

The door burst open as the three sisters happily came inside.

"Uncle uncle has our beloved cousin been born yet?"

"Is it a girl or a boy?"

"What's their name?"

All three of them surrounded the woman who was holding the infant Adiel.

"Hey now don't be causing trouble for the Queen children. Your Uncle, the King is very busy with his new born."

Nuella who was nearby told them to behave themselves.

"Its fine Neulla no need to worry, hey little ones! I'd like you to meet Adiel."

The King held her in his arms and crouched down for the children to see. They looked overjoyed to see the adorable infant gently flail in his arms.

"Now children, why don't you go ahead and play outside, I have some private matters to discuss with your uncle and the Queen as well."

"Aww" they all managed to say synchronized. They understood and left the building.

"C'mon let's follow them Kouki."

"Oh okay."

They tagged along as the kids left.

"Hey Phila, Atelia, do you want to head down to visit the mortals?"

"It's been a while since we've been there, I guess we should."

Angel wings sprung from their back and they all jumped from the edge as they descended. Soon after the Loreley of this era seemed to have seen them leave but chose not to follow.

Loreley turned to look at Kouki for a brief moment before looking down at them again.

"Everyone that lived up here could go down to the mortal world, as long as they disguised themselves and didn't intervene in their affairs."

"What are they going to do exactly?" He wondered.

"You'll see."

------------------------------------------

The streets were packed with people, stands were about, it seemed like it was a festival. The three children changed their appearance to match the people of this era. Clothes and all. From the looks of it alone it really was a peaceful world. Like nothing could ever go wrong.

Ela walked up a bit and then turned to face the other two siblings.

"I suggest we do this now." Ela, the oldest insisted.

Phila smiled for a moment before responding.

"You know, I always felt the same way. For millions of years the world was all goody two shoes. No violence. it's as if it never existed." Phila continued as she looked downwards.

"Mother told us that, if the humans were to lose sight of what the Gods were then, they'd render themselves useless. That may very well be our chance to finally start something interesting and take everyone down." All three of the sisters agreed with each other.

"Ela had made this possible due to how one of her powers is the potent mind alternation ability. Though in this case she hadn't used it on her sisters, they were actually agreeing on the plan on letting sin rule upon the mortal world. They were to interested in what this would become, they solely thought that the lives they had now were too simple. Which is why they wanted to do something to change it."

Kouki's expression worsened as he knew what would probably happen next.

"Let's skip to...that fateful day thousands of years ahead."

The scene immediately changed. What Kouki saw shocked him entirely. Fires about, smoke filled the sky. Screams of pain and agony roared throughout. Buildings collapsed. Kouki was near the edge of the Sancturary and he also looked down to the Earth. Noticing how most of the land was black, presumably of fires. Smoke could be seen in the air. He naturally assumed they were of wars the humans and other races brought upon themselves which lasted for a lifetime.

"We're back in the Sancturary...those three girls were so into this that they didn't even care anymore about their race or even their mother. They wanted to see the world crumble. Now that these years have passed they have rendered the gods defenseless. The angels were currently fighting the three of them as they were the ones not truly affected by the humans."

"What...in the world...could this have not been stopped sooner?!"

"..."

"Unfortunately, no. They took too long to notice and even when they did it was too late."

Up ahead Kouki took notice of an intact building. At the front of the door the Loreley of this time could be seen and behind her the young Adiel.

They were older now, Loreley had the same height she does now.

"Adiel, I need you to take refuge right here. I have to go an take arms and help take those three down!"

"No, don't go Lori...I don't want you to die too..."

She crouched down and hugged the small Adiel.

"Look Adiel, you don't have to worry. I'll be sure to come back okay? I just need you to take cover, I don't want you getting hurt."

"O-okay..."

Without hesitation she let go and flew up into the air. Furious at the sisters for causing all of this. Angels were falling left and right as they couldn't keep up with the raw power of the siblings. Up above Ela could be seen laughing hysterically.

"Ela!!!"

"Oh my what have we here? If it Isn't Lori-"

"Do not call me by that name, I don't want your filthy mouth butchering it. I will take you down and your sisters, mark my words!"

"Lazarus!"

Loreley had called for her spear and soon appeared in her hand.

The name of Loreley's spear was called Lazarus. She charged at the floating Ela as she put up a barrier in front of her to block the attack.

Not having a change to react she was hit from behind and sent flying downwards as she crashed into the concrete. The rest of the sisters came to toy with her. Phila was the one that tossed her to the ground.

"Damn you!"

Before Loreley could charge again, Atelia came from the side and tackled her sending her flying again. She was screaming in pain as it hurt when she hit the buildings.

"Face it Lori, you can't stop us. You're just as worthless as the rest of them. No, you're even far worse. Suffer the same fate as your father here and now."

Loreley got up and looked up at the sky as she faced them.

"How dare you...you take everything from us. Our happy lives, the emotions and relationships we had with the world and this place. They're all gone! All because of you!"

"I don't want to die....I enjoyed this place and for you to take it away from me, everything away from me. I will stop you here."

It was the calm before the storm. Everything went silent and Loreley only uttered one word.

"Fluvis."

In that instant a gigantic blue aura surrounded Loreley. The amount of power and pressure could be felt even if Kouki was only an illusion. It's as if the magic overuled everything. Her hair waved by the strong winds. Her eyes full of pure anger. An agile golden and blue armor came upon Loreley. She was ready to take these three down, and she did not take anything lightly to fall into despair.

"This will be settled now."

"W-what?"

Before the three sisters could move all three of them were locked in place by a spell. It didn't come from Loreley but Adiel could be seen in the rear as she had her hand extended. She seemed to have cast a capture spell that locked then in place.

"Lori now!"

Loreley raised Lazarus. The light gleamed at the peak. The light struck the sky high above. The pure magical energy was radiant. All it took was this.

"The light that pierces the sky."

In the next moment the three sisters have been struck. Defeated. The rest of the Sancturary seemed to have collapsed at the hit. Loreley's power vanished and she was left unconscious as she began falling down towards the mortal world. The three sister's did as well, though Ela still managed to cast a mind altering spell to the last remenants of the Sancturary including Adiel. As well as using her last power to affect the rest of the world. Soon everything went blank.

"That is why Adiel seemed to not recognize me. Her mind was altered to make me the enemy. As well as for everyone else on this planet. Well at least if this era, so not many in the present would know about me except certain individuals. It's also to take note that most of the angels were killed but of course that is not a problem in the present. Though, of course they will still see me as an enemy. Now that I came out of my spear in front of the people it's going to be hard now since they saw me."

"Only I could recognize Atelia even with her disguise because of the power that I felt reminded me of her. Her being the headmistress is a huge problem."

-------------------------------------------

It was still the same time when they came back. The moonlight illuminating both of them. Kouki woke up in a fit of panic and rage, sweat pouring down his face.

"If that's all true then...we have to let everyone know!"

Loreley who was next to him shaked her head.

"No Kouki, even if we did no one would believe us. Even when I showed Adiel yesterday she had doubted what I had shown her."

"We have to get rid of Atelia! We should go now."

Loreley tried to call him down, she knew how he felt. She knew exactly how he felt.

"We can't Kouki, you can't. Do you want to make yourself an enemy of the entire Kingdom and the other races! Plus, even at your current level you wouldn't even stand a chance. I could probably match her but I doubt it, my full power hasn't returned yet. We can't kill her now until we prove her true identity and intentions, if we do we'd just end up becoming an enemy of everyone on this continent."

His grip on the bed sheets tightened. He had to accept the reality of the situation and tried to calm himself.

"Dammit..."

"It's no use worrying about it now, we should get some sleep."

"Right...sorry."

She gently shaked her head to let him know that it was okay. They both layed down again. Closing their eyes, awaiting for the next day.
