Chapter 6 - You Shouldn't Talk To People You Don't Know

Walls have ears.

Doors have eyes.

Trees have voices.

Beasts tell lies.

Beware the rain.

Beware the snow.

Beware the man

You think you know.

-Songs of Sapphique

I will bury all my anger in the ground.

I long for that distant country where everyone lives as they wish.

When I opened my eyes, I felt like I was beaten. As I browsed through in the darkroom, my eyelids stuck together due to sleeping, I got up and tried to recover myself by leaning my feet against the cold floor. I had to recover myself. Otherwise, I would die somewhere.

I was startled and turned around as the door opened and closed sharply. Pars was staring at me with his bandaged hands and sweat running down his face. "I thought you would never wake up."

"What?" I said in surprise. I looked for a clock in the room but it was not there. Finally, I stood up. "How many hours have I slept?" Pars was watching me aggressively as I rub my eyes with my hands.

"I don't know…" he said, pretending to be thinking. He was ridiculing. "It's been 24 hours."

I was startled. The past poked my mind. I shouldn't have shown that I was suffering. "Ah…" I said, trying to smile. But he suddenly grimaced.

"Don't force a smile," he said, shaking his head in disapproval. "You look like you're in pain."

I'm already suffering from pain, Sarehan. Don't you still notice?

"Get ready quickly. There's training. I'm waiting for you outside." I stared after him when he left the room without waiting for an answer. He was a frivolous person. Or he was so deep that I was too shallow to understand him.

When I saw the closet on the left side of the bed, I headed directly there and opened the cabinet door and put on the first clothes that came to my hand, then I tied my hair up and left the room.

When I stepped in front of the house where we stayed with Pars, I saw that a few people were chatting in the training area a few meters away, while the others were training.

Pars shouted ahead. "Reverie! Come here!" He must have been impatient when I went to him, slowly and hesitantly, when he suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me into him, causing me to cling to his chest. As his masculine scent filled my nose, I pushed him in shock and began to breathe deeply, trying not to reveal it to anyone.

As the hand touching my shoulder supported me as if to dispel my uneasiness, I looked up at Cassian and smiled faintly. "Let alone," Pars said angrily. I was left as Cassian's stern eyes met the Pars's eyes. What was going on? "You know she's mine, brother. Go support someone else."

When Pars's green eyes clamped in my eyes, not hearing his order, I slowly pushed Cassian's hand off my shoulder and went over to him. He looked satisfied. "You'll meet someone more today." I was surprised when he pointed at the blonde-haired girl on the other side with his head. I just realized she was there. "We have a big mission soon, so we are starting training. All training will be done together."

"Mission? What are we going to do?" Pars smiled crookedly and stroked my head and continued.

"You don't need to know. Just follow my orders, Alenas."

As I freed my head in anger, he carelessly looked around and spoke to the blonde. "Madison! Help Reverie in training. Don't let her be alone."

When the blonde girl, whose name was Madison, smiled and confirmed with a smile, my stomach was twisted in an urge to vomit. Flirting? What was that now? So Sarehan was like other men. I was not surprised.

I thought that training would be easy when Madison quickly got me into a suitable position and I started to warm up with her, but within 10 minutes I realized that Madison was not going to leave me alone.

Madison laughed when I collapsed panting because of hours of training. "I think you are the weakest weapon ever." Everyone was watching us as she continued to chuckle by herself. When my hands started to tingle, I shook and whispered.

"No. It will not happen again. People like her will always exist. Control your anger."

When I tried to get up, Madison pressed my hand with her foot and didn't let me get up. My blood was boiling with anger as I looked at the boat in my hand. "Do you want to die?" My voice was rising from my throat.

She laughed once more. When I looked up and looked around, I groaned when I saw that everyone was still watching from afar. That much fun was enough. I was bored.

I turned my head to Madison and raised my other hand on the ground. When I pressed the white power radiating from my hand into Madison's boot, which I was sure was expensive, Madison pulled her foot back in shock and fell back. When she started to cry with pain in her foot, everyone was hurriedly gathered around her. Even Pars.

In fear, I backed up and straightened and quickly got up and started running. I bounced the wooded area a little further ahead and continued to scratch my arm through the trees with branches. I think I had been running for about 10 minutes and was tired now. When I saw a small pond ahead, I collapsed in front of the pond with the strength of thirst and dipped my palm in the water and brought it closer to my face. As I was quaffing, a voice came from behind me. I was frozen.

The blonde-haired boy coming out of the trees rubbing his eyes was stunned when he saw me. His body was transparent and I could see the trees behind his body. It was the first time to see a spirit. "Who are you?" he sniffed.

I turned to the pond and frowned. "You shouldn't talk to people you don't know, kid." I could feel he was behind me.

"Then…" he said as he put his little hand on my shoulder. "How will I know people?"

Despite being a spirit, the moment his soft and warm hand touched my shoulder, my step-family and my past began to cut through the wound in my heart, when I pushed his hand off my shoulder. He had power. He shouldn't have touched me. A child could not bear the pain of my past.

"You…" he said as his voice trembled. "You are her." He was crying. "The one who brings darkness to bear the pain."

"What?" I said as I touched the water with my fingertip. "What are you talking about?" I hadn't expected this at that time. He started sobbing when his warm little arms wrapped around me. "Hey…" I said in surprise. "You shouldn't have touched me."

"I am so sorry," he said as he sobbed, continuing to cry. "I... You... How did you endure so much pain? Tell me, big sister... Is it still hurts?"

"No," I said lying. "So, don't cry."

He suddenly left my body and wiped his eyes and looked around. "They're coming," he said. "They're coming to hurt you." I kept looking behind him as he started running to the other side of the woodland with his little feet.
