Chapter 23 - The Current Situation

Elihim went back to his own room. Surprisingly, after all that happened, Ellie was still deeply asleep.

'She's such a sleepyhead.'

While hearing Lyssa and Brius bringing the sleeping Heron inside, Elihim chose to come back to bed with Ellie.

'Now what do I do?' he began to ponder while he comfortably used his cute little sister as a body pillow. Ellie, on the other hand, subconsciously snuggled up to him in her sleep.

The early sunlight was just about to reach him when he closed his eyes.

'My goal is to get out of this house and live on my own. In that way, my Karma will not unnecessarily get tangled with anyone nor will anyone's Karma will touch me. My life will be peaceful and then, I will rest until I die.'

For Elihim, that was the perfect plan. This is his seventh and last life according to what he learned from the previous worlds after becoming the Overlord more than once.

Just like what Feia said to him, he should use it to rest. It was his retirement plan.

'But first, I have to untangle my Karma to this life's family of mine. Since my bad Karma had affected them, I have to do something as a payment... Furthermore, what am I going to do with the information that I am just adopted?'

Elihim peeked and saw the innocent Ellie's face and decided.

'I guess I should just ignore and keep it a secret. Ellie needs a reliable big brother now. I don't want to break her heart.'

With that in mind, Elihim took a nap. Multitasking so early in the morning is taxing to his young body. Although his mind had gone through and was practically immune to this small stuff, his body isn't.

Only through sheer determination and perseverance was he able to move as if he doesn't get tired.

However, Elihim is quite aware that even though he can break the limit of his young body, doesn't mean he should. He still needs to take care of it.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Brius apologized for making Heron in that state. But Lyssa didn't accept the apology since she should be the one apologizing.

She knew that it was her husband's initiative and actions that got him to this state.

After an awkward period, Brius just laughed it off.

"Why are we arguing about this? Let's just blame it on Heron. Well then, I'll check on him later." the kind friend waved his goodbye.

Lyssa appreciated that Brius still stayed friends with Heron after he chose such a selfish action that burdened the whole town.

For the sake of recruiting an Imagi, Heron had to cut the town's reliance on Hramm City. Afterward, the town's development stopped and they didn't know what to do.

Many were stuck in this predicament. There was chaos and protest against Heron. Stocks, goods, foods, and medicines stopped coming into the town. The sudden changed caused everyone misfortune.

Some lives were literally ruined while some came back to being poor.

All of them blamed Heron and even his incurable son, making the infamous "Incurable Scream" which was seen as a plague in the town.

However, Heron still had to make a living. As if he wore a stigma, whenever he needs something from the town, he would be ignored, ridiculed, and sometimes get beaten up.

Lyssa noticed a few instances of this. But Heron hid most of it.

It was even unbelievable how he survived through all of that. Although Heron has some kind of strength within him, he clung to a hope that helped him get through.

That hope lies on his son, Kaen Elihim.

Yet, two years have already passed. The past Elihim who saw the disappointment in his father's expression mentally scarred him.

But lucky for him, or anyone affiliated, the true Kaen Elihim have woken up after all the adversities...

"Elihi! Elihi!"

A soft voice was waking Elihim up.

"Hm?"

"Elihi, wake up!"

Elihim opened his eyes to meet the bright light before a small, yet round face covered it for him.

"Ellie?"

He sat up while rubbing his eyes, acting like a little child. In all of his life, executing this act was the easiest.

'Within everyone, there is this desire to stay innocent and carefree. That is why I don't have any problem with this.' he thought.

But sometimes, his maturity naturally exudes.

"Come on, I'm hungry." Ellie came down from the bed and pulled him.

"Yes, yes..."

Ellie was not comfortable being alone with her parents. It always had a heavy and awkward atmosphere whenever Heron and Lyssa are together.

That is why Ellie didn't want to go anywhere without Elihim. Being around her big brother was the most comfortable and most natural for her.

When the two of them came down, it was the usual scene; Lyssa preparing breakfast while Heron being depressed.

Seeing his two children, Heron wanted to play with them but somehow found no energy to do it.

'How can I listen to her? How can I make her talk?' he was thinking about what he heard earlier in his "dream"

But even in front of this heavy scene, Ellie walked with wide strides and a smile.

"Mommy! Breakfast for two!" she shouted as she ordered.

"..." Lyssa replied in silence but if one observed carefully, they could see her slight smile.

Quietly, she put down their breakfast which was meat stew.

"You mow, Ewii! Ai ham a iwange weam~-"

"Don't talk with your mouth full." Elihim laughed at Ellie's stuffed cheeks.

While he attend to his little sister's babbling, Elihim thought.

'The first to fix here is not poverty, but also these two's relationship.'

He sneakily glanced at Heron and Lyssa.

'They just need to open up to each other and re-spark their relationship. Heh... that should be easy with a little advice and a little aphrodisiac.'

Elihim internally laughed towards his plan.

Meanwhile, Lyssa frowned as she was definitely feeling something different from Elihim.

'Why did he suddenly felt more mature?' she found it strange.
