Chapter 13 - Fast food buddies (13)

Andras shuffled through some paper work, his previous injuries from the gate had already been healed.

His styled blond hair shone from the morning light peeping in from the gorgeous office view behind him. The blood red eyes lazily blinked and narrowed at the piece of paper in his hands.

Andras's secretary, Mallory entered the office. At this, he raised an eyebrow.

"Any news on Orchid?" Andras asked.

"Nothing official, most of it are uncertain reports from thugs." Mallory's chestnut brown hair was neatly arranged to the side, his handsome face reflected well in the window.

Andras sighed. "Okay, just leave them on my desk." Frowning, he sat back on his chair.

Currently, he didn't know what to feel about Orchid. He wanted to capture him, rip off his nails, ruin that annoying sly look, or skin him alive.

However, he instead regarded him as if he didn't exist, and when he saved Sirvana, it baffled him.

Didn't he plot the whole entire event to kill at least one of them anyways? Why did he plan so diligently only to not reap any benefits? This caused him to stare suspiciously at Orchid, but Orchid simply looked away.

What's more, what happened once Orchid healed Sirvana? It seemed as if Orchid was being punished by someone stronger then him. Andras had even heard him swear involving something with a puppet.

But who could control an S+ ranked? Without the late emergence of SS ranks, they would have become the ones to rule the world. And since one couldn't raise their predestined rank, they were just a little more plentiful then the few SS ranks.

All these questions hurt his mental state. For the past few weeks, he had even put aside his disdain towards Samuel and talked to him on multiple occasions regarding Orchid.

Andras won't just capture Orchid and torture him, he'll force all the answers out of his sly mouth. But then what? Kill him? Let him go? Cripple him and then keep him as a trophy?

"…" He was getting off task. Sighing, he picked up another piece of paper.

"Don't you have parents or something?" Chu Mal-Chin unhappily looked at the little girl devouring the twenty piece chicken nuggets.

"Mm, yauh." She responded, mouth still filled with food.

Ever since he came here to just think about things, a certain little girl kept pestering him for food.

"Eat properly." Chu Mal-Chin frowned. "Do they starve you or something?"

Gulping she shook her head. "Nah, I just don't eat much."

"Why?"

She didn't answer him, but instead asked another question.

"What's your name Mr?" She dipped a nugget into sauce before plopping it into her mouth.

"Why should I tell you?" Chu Mal-Chin already didn't want to get too involved with some random person's daughter. Else he's about to be branded something else other then a weirdo.

"Because I'm useful." She said. Chu Mal-Chin glanced at her.

"I already awakened as a gifted." The girl stared resolutely at him.

"..Don't joke about things like that." He warned. "People will try to kidnap you even if it isn't true." And plus, people who awakened usually gain their abilities at 17. Only S or higher ranked gifted could have the ability the awaken at such a young age.

Chu Mal-Chin eyes narrowed. This girl doesn't look like anyone important too, but she really shouldn't say stuff like that ah.

The girl's eye twitched before sighing.

"Just give me your name old man."

"What happened to the nice polite girl a few days ago?"

"Oh, how I'm so sorry dear Mr, please grace this one with thou's holy name." She sarcastically and loudly said, causing heads to turn.

"…Malso." Chu Mal-Chin sighed in defeat, ah he really hated kids…

"Abby. You have to remember it, okay?" She stared at him.

"Sure sure, but why are you even pestering me? I get that I go here regularly, but they are other people with chicken nuggets."

"…Call it a hunch."

"About what?"

"I can't tell you…yet."

"What does that even mean?"

Suddenly, Abby's eyes shook with fear. Her small body stiffened on the chair, Chu Mal-Chin could see cold sweat forming.

Looking around, he saw several men in black suits. They were either mafia members, or just some rich girl's bodyguards.

Slowly cranking his neck back towards the terrified Abby, Chu Mal-Chin sighed.

"Are they your guardians?" He whispered.

"…I don't want to go with them." She answered back softly.

"Alright then." When did he decide to get dragged into this hm? Too bad his conscious was still existent.

Setting down a teleport anchor at the seat, he grabbed Abby's hand. Just as someone in those suits saw them, they shouted towards their members.

"Stop right ther-!" But it was too late, the fast food buddies already teleported back to Malso's apartment.

"Damn it! Find her!" He cursed before turning back to the other men in suits. The WackDonald employee wiped the nervous sweat off his brow.

—-

Seeing how she was suddenly transported from a fast food joint to an apartment, her eyes sparkled.

Chu Mal-Chin rubbed his forehead. Now what does he do!? None of the teleport anchors were at safe, child friendly spots. The only thing remotely good was his apartment.

"Abby." Malso turned towards the girl. "Don't tell anyone that a strange man took you to his home. Also don't forget to keep my power a secret." He warned.

"Mm! I know I know~" Abby seemed much happier wandering through his messy apartment, thank goodness he cleaned it often.

Abby started to turn towards the bedroom, just as she was about to turn the handle, Malso stopped her.

"That room is off limits." Chu Mal-Chin almost sighed in relief. He almost forgot he just hung Malso's suit leisurely on top of the mirror.

Even if Abby was a little girl, better safe then sorry. Especially with all the Orchid news going around.

Abby pouted but complied, and after filling herself up with hot chocolate, she told Malso she wanted to go back.

"Tsk, I'm not a taxi driver." He scratched his neck.

"So you're gonna keep me here then?"

"I'm a very good taxi driver." Grabbing onto Abby's hand, he buried his face into his scarf. He used his other hand to cover her eyes, and they teleported into the dusty and shady alleyway where he had met Andras.

It was a good idea to cover Abby's eyes as now it was dawn, thugs and prostitution was rampant. Chu Mal-Chin wondered if he should cover her ears as well.

Abby didn't voice any complaints, so he hurriedly ushered her to the Main Street. Once they got to a familiar place, Chu Mal-Chin sighed before releasing his grip on her.

Abby smiled and waved him goodbye, he half heartedly raised his hand in response, causing her to frown.

"I waved my hand, Mr. Wave back." She creepily said.

"…" He fully raised his hand and saw her off. Is it really okay for a little girl to just…roam the streets….? She probably knows what she's doing….maybe.

Just as he was about to leave, a chestnut haired man with handsome features strongly grabbed onto his shoulders.

"Excuse me sir, can I ask what you were doing with that girl today?" Mallory's aura was oozing scarily behind Malso.

"…" Oh come on.
